It is indeed - a great year in British history.  Well spotted Mr Mammoth.

The Battle of Rorkes Drift was in 1879 also.
Whereupon there were a record number of Victoria Crosses awarded 11 in total, was there anything else significant that happened in that very important year.

Cannot believe no-one has mentioned the marriage of:
Dutch King Willem II to Emma von Waldeck-Pyrmont!
Some people have very short memories on here :(

I see, well carry on cleo sounds as though it's authentic so it must be true.
In that case it must have been a Fulham Supporter who discovered the world wasn't Flat after all. In actual fact it's roundish.

Well spotted Woolly. Where would we be if that St Andrews' vicar has not got those young local lads to stop causing havoc and form a football team..... :58: Just where would I go to make my Terrets kick in? :022:

Isn't there a pub down the Lower Richmond Road called The Half Moon, that Fulham FC used as their HQ.

But wasn't Private Hook one of the VC winners (according to Zulu)

I think you are right Woolly. A while back I met a vicar who said his father had been at the church where Fulham had been formed. As for Rorkes' Drift. There were many VC's awarded there. They reckon this was to cover up for acute incompetence by those in charge.

Any Fulham historians out there knowledgeable enough to be able to post a fact for every year as the pages pass through to 2017?   092.gif
