" I told the Inland Revenue I didn't owe them a penny,as I live by the Sea"😁

I admired him mostly for his endless work for deprived children, and children's homes.I believe over the years  lot of his own money was donated to them.

I was lucky enough to see Ken Dodd a few years ago, I laughed so much my sides hurt, he never stopped with his fast funny one liners. No smut no bad language. It is a sad loss to entertainment.

Also I saw a programme about him being interviewed by Fern Britton, a caring man, deeply religious. It showed a side to a man we would never have seen from just looking at him when he was working.

Only ever seen him on the telly and it is unforgivable not to pay taxes as these support those in need. However the courts decided that he shouldn't go to prison unlike Lester Piggot. However that can be forgiven if he donated lots of money to children's charities. As long as he has done more good than bad RIP

Was never a fan until I heard a live show on radio that he did. The speed of his delivery was impressive. The last of the great music hall type acts. A great showman that appealed to many.

Apologies if you feel it was out of order but in this world of free speech I think I am entitled to make my comments, they contained no foul language and I was only giving my opinion based on what the person I compared him with who was though to be a charitable person only to turn out to be proved exactly what he was.

Did you actually think it out before you commented.
By that ridiculous statement your making out as though everyone who helps under priveliged kids in homes are Paedophiles.
Ken Dodd also donated thousands to keep old folks home going where he lives...What does that make him for that.

Sorry, but I find this unacceptable. This is not "free speech" and I hope our mods will remove all comments from KJS immediately. I agree these comments are disgraceful, and actually rather sinister; "...the person I compared him with who was though (sic) to be a charitable person only to turn out to be proved exactly what he was."

We know exactly what Jimmy Saville turned out to be, so such comparisons are beyond the pale, and totally unwarranted. Our football club has a deserved reputation of being family friendly; is it too much to expect this to be reflected in our forum?

"One man's free speech is another man's slander".

KJS, as per our guidelines, posting unsubstantiated comments about an individual on a public forum such as this is something we do not tolerate because:
1. As we have seen with other forums, it opens up the risk of litigation.
2. It creates un-necessary ill-will amongst and between members.

Hope you understand and respect this.

Cheers

Burt

Sad when someone who uses his wealth  to aid good causes, as many celebrities, including footballers, do, should be  thought of as the same as a notorious abuser of the vulnerable.

Burt is right to say that  as well as being very offensive, especially on such an occasion, FoF could be  liable to litigation  for  displaying such comments. Imagine if Ken Dodd's family saw them.

Ken Dodd was much loved - a British institution, and he represented a  type of comedy which is dying out - inoffensive, witty and enjoyed by all, from  kids to grannies- RIP.

If you had heard a live performance you may change your mind.  I never liked the Diddymen and the tv stuff he did. But his speed of delivery on stage was brilliant.
