After last Saturday's effort I'll be clutching at any straw to get a result against Newcastle, here's my 'best of a bad bunch'...
Seri still needs some time on the bench, he's a better player than we've seen so far, its just not working at the moment. Christie is the best(?) option we have for right back and I'm also hoping that young Ryan will be fit.

You may well be right but the LAST thing we need is tinkering, especially in defence. Jok tried changing virtually every week. We need some consistency of selection. Bear in mind that up until the 2nd W Ham goal we were pretty much bossing the game and could easily have scored 2 or 3. It is a real dilemma for Claudio. Who'd be a manager?

Think it's time to swap Odoi out, he's had too many chances for me, and can't afford to suffer more of his switched off moments. So, I'm inserting Christie at RB, and RCB will be Mawson, LeMarchand returns, and will be LCB, with Bryan at LB.

Logic behind this is. Anguissas best performances at Marseille were alongside a more defensive DM in a 4231. We have never seen Anguissa and a more defensive CM other than against Liverpool and against Brighton (Mcdonald) and these were 2 of his better performances.
The question marks then become Seri vs. Cairney and Schurrle vs. Kamara. I have chosen Seri as I believe Cairney slows us down a tad when playing on the counter away from home. I also don't believe he's got the fitness to play 3 games in a week. The second decision was a flip of the coin decision. Schurrle the better player but Kamara in better form. I would go with Schurrle as Kamara is a better impact sub vs. a tired defense.

Depending on how you see it, the grim reality is that Seri is our playmaker now. It was evident as soon as he left the pitch we couldn't muster enough chances like we did in the first half. Painful as that be, because I have always been of Johansen, but he just isn't doing it so far this year.
IMO we were really good in attacking against West Ham (especially in the 1st half), just needed to sort the defense out.
Subbing off Seri killed our attack totally.

What this thread shows is that there are so many different opinions as to what our starting eleven should be.
If I write out my first starting eleven today, I reckon within 24 hours I would amend one or two positions, and probably again within another 24 hours.
Because for me we have not got enough players currently playing well enough to be selected to form a team.
Maybe a five aside team.
Which eleven genuinely have earnt a starting place, if you take into consideration their current form, workrate, application, passion and effort, not forgetting their ability.
Not many is there, and certainly not enough to field a team.
Probably if I was pushed, maybe around 8, but only just.
Which tells me, that unless circumstances change against Newcastle United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Huddersfield Town and Arsenal, prior to the January Window, then the month of January will determine whether we stay up or go down, depending on whether we recruit the right personnel, who have the quality and desire for a relegation scrap, because at the moment we do not have nearly enough, hence the reason why I have difficulty in selecting enough players to form a team at this moment in time.
Every week we have a thread with supporters selecting their team, nothing wrong with that.
But generally every week it's a circus and a pantomime performance over a 90 + minute runout.
Whether it is defence, attack or midfield, individually or collectively. That's why I never bother to name an 11, because it ends up with the best players being the ones that never played.
We are chasing our own tail.
So if nothing changes dramatically enough in those four matches, to alter our position, and there is no evidence so far to show that it will.
Then I can only then rely on the right kind of players being brought in to do one job, and one job only, and that is to avoid relegation at three other clubs expense.
Simple as that, I cannot see how saying statements like, in the Manager I trust, whoever the manager is, that's Cobblers. Or I hope, because at the moment, we have three hopes, no hope, Bob Hope and the hope that we sign quality players that are up for a battle, up for a fight, and to play for the shirt.
Yes we have 21 matches in the League left, but it will be down to 17 before we play Burnley away, a ground which has never been happy hunting for any Fulham team.
A couple months ago, we were saying, including little old me, we have still got 32 matches left, plenty of time. Well since then we have changed the manager, but not the recruitment individuals, played 11 won 1 drawn 1and lost 9, scored 8 conceded 29, that's 4 points out of a possible 33 points, and we are rock bottom and adrift.
That is the stark truth, and nothing tells me very much will change before we can get our hands on a few Warriors, Leaders and fighters who know how to dig us out of this hole we are currently in, but they also have to have the desire and hunger and confidence that is currently absent from so many of our players.
Crossing fingers does not work, and neither does wearing your favourite underwear.
You may pitch your team now, but in 48 hours, what's the betting you may change your mind.
Now if it was a five a side League, it would be a little easier.

Not a lot else has worked this season so thought I would mix it up abit.
Firstly just reading these team selections is enough to make me need a stiff drink, secondly you all seem to have missed the post saying frank(thank God) and Sess are out of contention.
Sessegnon missing through injury is a blow. Hope Ranieri gives Kebano a chance think he would be good away from home

Show just how weak we are defensively when Odoi and Ream keep getting selected when neither is up to Prem standard.

I only saw the game on TV but thought AK was excellent, OK his finishing wasn't "clinical"
but his effort, positional play, enthusiasm, defensive potential and pure "rawness and pace"
deserve his continued opportunity.
It's like you guys don't trust Ranieri's reflection in saying the first half against West Ham wast the best we have played. Why would this be disrupted then?
That first-half was very good, maybe our best this season, and we should have scored, and even after we went behind we kept going forward and creating good chances, that we should have scored from, only to go behind again, but we still tried to get back in it. In the second half they sat back, and there was bit of a stalemate, but if we'd been in front, they'd have had to come at us, and left themselves exposed the back.
So, should we start with this?

Though, of course, we are away this time. maybe KMac should start. And should Schurrle start - does he do enough defensively? Although, he is someone who can score, and maybe works harder than people think.
I really do think we have been very unlucky, and are desperately in need of the confidence good results, that we deserve, will give us.
I do think it's starting to come together, but missed chances and the same old defensive lapses, have undone us - but a couple of wins, even one, and with confidence coming back, I think we could see a completely different team.
Our players are better than their results, and also becoming more of a team.
Let's hope for the best today at Newcastle, to where I'm shortly setting out.
The players deserve it, and out brilliant away support certainly does. Let's hope we're cheering a Fulham victory. We have to think we're in with a chance, just try not to make any errors and concede early. xmascheer1 049:gif

This is almost the closest and near enough the team I would select, given who is available.
My only one concern is that for me, the jury is out with Seri, I would definitely select Cairney. Seri will be off to another club sooner rather than later.
However, I understand the reasons as it is not easy to select a starting eleven when not that many have been playing as well as you would expect.
I am glad to see Cisse in this eleven, he cannot do any worse than others, he deserves his chance.
As does Kebano, and I am surprised he has not been involved more, considering the poor performances of others.
That back four is as good as we have by a long way, and they should stick with it.
The more consistent we are, the more likely we will have a settle side, and it works both ways. The more settled we are the more consistent we should be.
Cisse and Kebano are fighters and will punch their weight.
Whereas the likes of Schurrie who is not only a luxury we cannot afford, but we are playing with ten men when he is on the pitch.
Need to get some kind of result today to stop the rot.
A team similar to this one is capable, but I prefer Tom to Seri, although currently some may say it's a tight call.
Roll on the Transfer Window, in the meantime we need stability and desperately need to pick up precious points before the Burnley match at Turf Moor.

Find it hard to believe that anyone would play Seri ahead of Cairney. Neither is up to much defensively admittedly but Cairney one's foot is better than Seri's two. Vietto ahead of Schurrle.
Oh for a return of those days last season when the team picked itself, there are so many options for today, each one being no better than the next.
It really is time Ranieri decided on his best starting eleven amd stuck with it for a few games.
Apparently a 3-5-2 today.
Imo Christie and Byran need to focus on defense and stay back 5-3-2...hopefully keeping the first clean sheet of the season.
Gotta stop the goals from leaking in.
