Gibraltar has 6 teams in their top division. As part of UEFA, they now qualify for the Champions League and the Europa league. Man Utd FC finished 3rd this season. I'm looking forward to the day when Man Utd play Man Utd. Incidently, Lincoln FC won the league this year. They changed their name. They used to be called Newcastle United (No, I'm not making this up). The club was created by Charles Poison from the old Police youth team. One of their current strikers is called Adolf Anes. I'm also looking forward to the day when FC Hound Dogs get promoted from Division 2 and qualify for Europe. I wonder if Elvis is alive and well, and playing football in Gibraltar? Having Gibraltar in UEFA is going to be fun. Over here in CONCACAF land, there's a club from Trinidad & Tobago [TNT] called Joe Public. I think that takes some beating. |

Teddy Maybank, George Best and VDS. Teddy had been on loan from Chelsea, played well and scored a good few goals then went back for what seemed an age. George, was one of the best players I had seen on TV at the time........and he came to Fulham........still had some good games, especially at our level then. Edwin was such a shock, he seemed to out of the blue with no rumours. Had to check there was not 2 and I was getting them mixed up.

I think we'd all agree that the announcement of Mr Al Fayed as chairman was the real game changer! I remember exactly where I was when that happened. I had half the family on the 'phone within 30 minutes and we all knew that the bad old days were over with.
I wasn't around in the Best/Marsh era, so I would have to say Paul Peschisolido. I think he was the first £1 million player we signed under Mo and you just suddenly realised that the guy was actually going to do what he said he would. I remember Pesky scoring a great goal in one of his first games, a goal that Rob Scott or Darren Freeman would never have finished, and I just thought 'Yep, that's what £1 million gets you'. |

I usually get "and what about San Lorenzo" (my team here in Argentina) and there goes my story about going to Craven Cottage..... and how good the premier League is and how boring and dangerous football is here ...... and bla bla bla....... But today I got the most amazing response when i came across ....... Bryan Ruiz !!!!! I was coming back to the office after lunch and I saw him and asked him: "are you Bryan?" His face was more than surprise at first turning into a little fear, something like: Yes i am!!! .... (wait a minute how does this guy know who i am? i'm on holiday here in Buenos Aires, I play for an english team.......). I introduce myself as probably the only Fulham fan in Argentina and we a had a little chat. I told him I saw him playing at CC las year against Stoke and WBA (he started to relax when he realised i knew what i was talking about) and asked him if he was still finding it hard to adapt his playing to the pace of the PL (i think that's his main weakness), and what it was like to play alongside Berbatov (very difficult to deal with but very easy to play with)....... A very nice chap, very shy, very young too. He's happy at Fulham and he's planning to stay. Unbeliavable story, i think he is still trying to figure it out Great story FP. I like Bryan Ruiz more and more. |

Seems silly now, but Paul Moody. The start of the upturn. Van der Sar was another turning point.
