NFR: Did anybody else notice Helguson got a double against Stoke?

Sorry if this has already been mentioned in another thread...

I just watched the highlights of the Stoke v QPR game, and as much as I hate both those teams, it was nice to see Helguson get a double. Cracking header for the first goal. I know he never really set the world alight for us, but I always liked him. I remember the period that we played him and McBride up front - what a partnership! Any ball in the air in the box and we looked a chance.

Anyway, just good to see him still scoring goals. And it didn't hurt that they were against Stoke  098.gif

Glad you brought this up. He has been playing really well since he left us!! He was key to getting them back up but it is great to see him back in the top flight. Wouldn't bet against him getting double figures this season. Thought we should never have left him go and haven't changed my mind.

Yes, he would have been a useful backup when Bobby was injured. Better than Elm and EJ at least.

Who was it got rid of him? Sanchez?

Yes, Sanchez transferred him just before the 'boro game when McGod wend down injured. I think those two occurances basically killed Healy in terms of what he could do for us. He needed a striker like McBride/Helgusun and was lost without one.

HH didn't set the world on fire with Bolton and was average in the Championship, but he always worked his backside off and has been very handy for ... uh ... er ....

I know Stoke are having a bad time at the moment but I can't remember the last time I saw a centre forward cause so much damage at the Britannia Stadium. Apart from taking his goals exceptionally well, Helguson practically terrorised Robert Huth and Ryan Shawcross for the best part of 90 minutes. Impressive.
Did you know? - Helguson has scored in all six games he has ever played against Stoke (seven goals in total).

Was about to post this, god I miss him

I also read Colin saying in the first 10 minutes of this game he got a golf ball in the cheek. Does he mean a Stoke fan actually threw a golf ball at the player? Bloody hell, that's terrible.
