Picayune Looks One Way For The Green Midfield

The Town Hall was packed with everybody from long haired hippy Jesus freaks, dirty, smelly, placard waving radicals, business men in smart yet strangely ill fitting suits to little grey haired old ladies waving Umbrellas in the air in anger. They were all there for one reason. To stop the building of a one way system bang in the middle of a Greening Field Site. As long as anybody could remember the Greening had always only gone one way ANYWAY. Trouble was that one way could vary. One week it had been going forward. But only forward and only for week. As if the Greening had been told to point only in that direction for that one day. But mostly the Greening pointed backwards and sometimes sideways.

' We want a Greening in the middle of our Green Field to be able to point in any direction at any time.' shouted the crowd. But the builders  felt The Greening needed to be set in concrete. In fact they had already started to build over the Greening. So not only did The Greening point in only one direction, rarely forwards, but now the Greening pointed and didn't move.But an irish sounding builder had a radical idea. A Mr Murphy from no fixed abode stood up and said that there as only one solution. Lets rid the Green field of The Greening altogether and lets not build any one way system but have a walk area where nobody could drive  through it.


It wasn't the ideal answer to the problem but it was a start. So the people left the town hall knowing that at least the one way system had been stopped. But next day when they all awoke from their slumbers. What did they see from their windows? But the concrete one way system had been built and a an Irish Builder looking dazed and holding his groin. The Greening was not going anywhere and somebody would have to pay for the new one way system that nobody wanted
