...People are eating blue (!!) bagels  here the last week... WTF? Anyway, loads of fun this week all over town. Today it is all culminating with the superbowl parties. I am having a few friends over for the game and are doing some last minute menu adjustments. What do you suggest I serve up?

I have sorted out the buffalo wings and also pizza. The beer is well taken care of. But what else? I can't BBQ here or I'll burn down the building but I guess I could order in. What do you suggest for some fine Superbowl grub folks? Thanks in advance

Mr. Finn, Not sure of your readily available shopping options, but if you have a good size pot (ceramic works best) you can braise a pork or beef roast in green sauce (chili verde). Salt and pepper the roast, brown on all sides, take out and add thick slices of onions, whole carrots or celery (or both) for the roast to sit on top of. Add 2 cups of chicken or beef broth, 1 cup of water, and 3 or 4 cans of the 7oz verde sauce cans (the roast should be half-way covered w/liquid). Put the lid on and depending on the weight of the roast just simmer for 3-4 hours. The roast will literally fall apart w/a fork. Can be served by itself or you can go Southern Californian style and serve w/corn tortillas (food you can eat with your hands is what your looking for) garnish w/chopped white onions or cilantro (mixing the two works perfectly). Super easy and super good. Cheers

One tip I forgot (especially if you don't eat them at home much) is when you are ready to serve is to heat the tortillas. Do them one at a time on your stove top. Use tongs and warm them on both sides of the tortilla. Do NOT microwave or stack in a oven. They literally take less than a minute (roughly 20-30 seconds a side). It helps that my better-half is of Mexican descent and she's taught this gringo a few tricks.  Go G-Men, hope they smack around the Pats.

That came out really well Mr SoCal!! Well pleased with that. I ran over to El Barrio up here and got some good stuff and very fresh tortillas from the Spanish store(s).

I'll do that again. Thanks for that recipe and give your better half a big hug for the heating up the tortillas first top-tip. Big hit all around. Thanks mate. Recommend other people to give it a shot. The roast does indeed become really tender, and the only extra thing I did was to add a little extra heat as we all like a good spice-kick. Delicious.
