Fulham have deal in place for Vitoria Setubal teenage pair

Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Wed, 05/23/2012 - 12:17

Fulham are eyeing Vitoria Setubal teenagers Filipe Cristo and Dinei.

The pair play for Vitoria's U17 team, with Filipe Cristo a central defender and Dinei a midfielder.

Fulham had them on a week's trial with their academy last week and are ready to offer both players a place in their Academy.

The two clubs already have a pre-agreement for both players.

There certainly has been a marked changed in policy in the last few years towards scouting and bringing in promising youngsters. Hopefully we will start to see the rewards of this in the coming seasons.

The focus on youth is very exciting. Obviously the Ajax strategy of bringing through good young talent, selling for a huge profit, then replacing them with fresh new talent is firmly in place. Can only be good for the club, obviously the fans will have to accept players leaving for big clubs when they come through.

If we can get the ball rolling with a few big name sales, then it will obviously make our academy the place for young players to come, snowball effect.

Jol has already shown a willingness to play the young players if he feels they are good enough.

pretty sure most of us except this way of life for fulham already. the only thing that has really confused me is that it has taken so long to realise that major investment in youth is the way to go

Tribal Football strikes again.

I guess if they link us with 200-300 players this summer, they're bound to get one of them correct. In the early days of FulhamUSA.com, American Mike used to threaten us with dire consequences if we posted ANYTHING from Tribal Football.

Since we were all terrified of him, we pretty much kept away from that pulp fiction lot.

Fulham fishing in Setubal

Saturday, May 19, 2012

Dinei Christ and Philip, two of the greatest pearls of grassroots football in Vitoria Setubal have been for a week at the Academy of Fulham and provided evidence. The English club is interested in hiring these two sub-17 players in Victoria.

Two talents from the formation of Vitoria Setubal and have been for a week, to give evidence at the Academy of Fulham. Several months ago that the English club followed the evolution of the two players in the under-17 team from Vitoria Setubal and after the close of the season made the decision to invite Christ and Dinei for a "tryout" for a week.

During the days they were to train at Fulham, the two young talents sharpened further the interest of the English club, as the potential that the coaches of the team recognized the under-19 players must take a move to Fulham the acquisition of the stars setubalenses. During practice, much as Christ Dinei impressed by their technical quality, which was evident even training with the best under-19 team in English football. Indeed, Fulham was champion of England at this level and it was with this team that the two sub-17 Vitoria Setubal were to show their worth.

The next step will be to integrate the two players on the stage of pre-season that the English club will be held in Portugal, for the Fulham make the final decision. There is already agreement between the clubs so that both can integrate this stage and a preliminary agreement for the transfer to take place, if that is the final decision of Fulham

Good luck to them.

"Fulham was champion of England at this level" - makes you a bit proud, doesn't it? Success breeds success and maybe we wouldn't attract this sort of talent if it was "Fulham - who?".

Bit disturbed to read they were being "hired in Victoria" (doesn't say whether it is Chatham-side or Brighton-side) but it does have direct District Line links to Putney Bridge.

FULHAM are ready to up their bid for HUDDERSFIELD hot-shot Jordan Rhodes to £5million.

Two young Portuguese?

I guess that means we must have hired a diving coach as well

Really going for it for this Rhodes lad. That's a lot of money for a relatively unproven player.
