there's not alot of sausage discussion. So what's your favourite?

chorizo if that counts. If it doesn't, the good old cumberland.

FatFreddysCat

As mentioned in the past my quest in life is to find the perfect sausage, basically i love most sausages but not them horrible lincolnshire things. I didn't realise untill a couple of years back that a banger is really a sausage !!!. I always buy the hot cumberland sausage whilst shopping in Tesco. Best sausage i ever had was on the Greek island of Chios, or some bakery in Garston (near Watford). Toulose are good. I'm going to try a few proper German Sausages next week and will report my findings. And bless you Lorky, sausages have been mentioned loads of times and always garanteed a good reply tally, i'm sure even Blingo will add a bit.

Chorizo is a good shout from the young Mr Lork as I like them spicy and hot myself,
but my all time favourite is Andouille sausage from New Orleans. Absolutely brilliant in a wide variety of dishes and permutations. Outstanding stuff.

I hate those white german things with God only knows what kind of goo inside that kind of explode when you put your fork in them. That stuff is disgusting.

I'll make a note not to try any white sausages whilst in the Fatherland Finny. Thanks for the tip.

Chorizo while best for raising cholestrol is also an excellent stain for both stone & wood. I especially like the way the fat congeals around it as it sits on your plate.   ...and this comes from a man who loves sausage as muct as Freddy. There is a place in a desert town north of Los Angeles called the Hungarian Sauage Factory. While their Italian (both sweet & spicy) and their bangers are excellant, The best is their garlic sauage. Near a foot long and made from meat not the by products, they are absolutely wonderful.

I think I'm hungary.  :015:
Its not that I could and others couldn't.
Its that I did and others didn't.

FatFreddysCat

I want that Garlic  sausage  :004: , are you aware that a banger isn't legally a sausage over here Jim? A banger has a much lower meat content.

FatFreddysCat

Did anyone watch that program Jimmy's Farm? One of jamie Olivers mates starts up a rare breed pig farm in suffolk , it was like porn to me i was hooked. I keep promising myself i will drive up there one summers day and stock up.

Actually (and very surprisingly) I have found it very hard to get a really good plate of bangers 'n mash in New York. You would think that every Irish pub serves one, and they mostly do, but the sausages are not anywhere close to being the real business.

The only thing harder to find is a good ruby. You can have any cuisine in the world here, including Uzbekistan, Borats and the rest of them, but finding a quality Indian place in Manhattan is very hard. I have found 2. One that is very good, and one that is tolerable, and I have been to at least probably 25 different ones in Manhattan alone.

Mostly you get overpriced rubbish that wouldn't last a good old fashioned Indian waiter scolding in London. They think I am mad when I tell them what I think of their food and throw in the customary tantrum for good form, which seem to shock them. I do not think Americans are very good at the fine art of complaining about food in a restaurant, especially not the Indian ones.

finnster, we don't care about Indian restaurants here in the States. They just aren't that big a deal here.

Hahaha Finny , as i've grown older and wiser i've realised that the teenage English custom of abusing Indian (Bangaledeshi) waiters is best left untill the food has been served.

Jimpav

Have to say Chorizo would be my front runner- lovely in a risoto or poached in red wine.

Pork and leek with mash and onion gravy.

FatFreddysCat

It's a bit like a Pig in a blanket mate but often with gravy and onions on it.

You got me there Fred.

Sausage roll or sausage in a roll?
Now that is indeed a bit of a question, innit?

"To be or not to be" magnitude over that choice.

Sausage in a roll usually, very hard to find good sausage roll unless home made. I used to like the Ginsters sausage roll , but have gone right off it.
