WATCH NEW SIGNINGS AGAINST FULHAM

Watch Wycombe's new signings make their home debuts in the pre-season friendly with Fulham on Saturday 28th July (k.o 3pm).

Matt Spring, Sam Wood, Richard Logan, Dennis Oli and Lee Angol are all likely to be involved, with newly-appointed skipper Gary Doherty set to lead the team out for the first time at Adams Park.

Martin Jol's Fulham finished ninth in the Premier League last season and former Blues loanee Marcello Trotta could be involved.

Tickets for the clash with the Cottagers are priced at £12 for adults, £5 for senior citizens/students and £3 for juniors. They can be booked online, by calling 01494 441118 or visiting the Information Centre at Adams Park.

Hospitality can also be booked for the game for just £25! The club can accommodate individual supporters through to any sized group booking and the package includes a behind the scenes tour of Adams Park, pre-match meal, executive area seats in the Main Stand and much more.

Riether raring to go at Fulham
Germany international hoping for success on loan from Cologne

Sascha Riether: Looking forward to sampling the Craven Cottage atmosphere as a Fulham player

New signing Sascha Riether cannot wait to get started at Fulham - as he has already tasted the unique atmosphere at Craven Cottage.

The Germany international has arrived on a season-long loan from Cologne and although he is new to English football he has faced Fulham in a Europa League quarter-final for Wolfsburg in 2010.

The Cottagers won that one 3-1 on aggregate as they went all the way to the final and Riether has strong memories of the experience at his new home ground.

He told Fulham's official website: "It was a great stadium, very traditional. And the atmosphere was unbelievable. Wolfsburg lost so it was not good at the time but it was a great experience."

Riether won the Bundesliga title with Wolfsburg in 2009 and was capped by Joachim Low the following year.

But his career took a turn for the worst when he moved to Cologne last season and was promptly relegated.

"It was very disappointing," he said. "We had a very good team and we did well for the first part of the season. But then we had a lot of problems and going down was very frustrating."

Change

The 29-year-old is now looking forward to a new challenge in another country.

"I'm very happy to be here," he added. "It's always a great experience to change club and to change to a new country.

"In Germany they say the Premier League is the best league in the world and for me it is a great honour to be at a big club with a big tradition like Fulham.

"I hope I can help Fulham progress in the right direction. At first, I have to get to know the players, the club, the crowd and the fans.

"We want to be successful, I won't say which place we will reach in the league but we will see how we start and I hope we have a good season.

"It's a big step for me as I have always played in Germany. I learned English in school but I have to learn more.

"I have been here for a few days and it has almost always been raining! I hope the summer comes soon. But it's quite good for pre-season as it's not too hot."

Versatile

Riether has enjoyed much of his success at right-back but is capable of operating anywhere across defence or midfield and is hoping his versatility can be an asset for Martin Jol's side.

"In Germany, I played everywhere apart from in goal and as a striker!" he said.

"I am comfortable in most positions. I don't have a position I feel I must play in; if the coach wants me to play somewhere I will try my best."

If Riether settles at Craven Cottage he has not ruled out adding to the two international caps he won in 2010.

"I hope to add to those appearances," he added. "It will be a good experience to play here and there are other German players in the Premier League.

"The German coach will be looking at players like Lukas Podolskiand Per Mertesacker at Arsenal so hopefully he will look at me too. We will see what happens."

Stripes
by LYDIA on JULY 11, 2012

The recent picture on the club website implies that our new home kit will have stripes. It has been quite a while since we have had a home kit with stripes as we are pretty used to our all white top that we usually have. Away kits are a different matter as we had a red and black striped kit in our survival year. But what might our new home kit look like in stripes? What do our fans think of this?

The last stripped home kit that I could find was in 1984 and both the home and away kit had smart pinstripes. It looked good and if we have something like that this season I would be very happy! We aren’t a club who are used to stripes like Newcastle or Sunderland so I doubt that we will have thick stripes all down our kit.

Fulham home kit 1984-Smart pinstripes

I decided to have a look at recent Kappa kit from around Europe that have had stripes to perhaps give us a clue of what we might expect from our new home kit which is to be unveiled on Friday.

French side Toulouse

Sweden's club team Hammarby IF

I think that the two kits above look good but I am still trying to imagine a Fulham kit like them.

People try to say that the kit you are playing in doesn’t matter but I disagree. I think that if you feel good and look good it gives you a good psychological mindset. I also think that kits have some sort of impact on the opposition the same way having a good warm-up can. You might not even realise that it affects you as a player but often just looking at the opposition, the way they look and warm up together can intimidate you or make you feel better about your chances. I remember playing against a hockey team last year who were sponsored by a Scottish milk firm and their kit had a cow pattern all over it and frankly, it looked ridiculous. Lets just say that we just didn’t feel as scared of them as we could because of it! I’m not saying that the good teams will have good-looking kits and bad teams will have silly-looking kits but I do believe that kits can add a good or bad psychological mind set for players.

What do you think about kits and what are you expecting from our new home kit this year?

Hugo Rodallega Looks To Be Fulham Bound

Fulham appear to be favourites for the signature of Hugo Rodallega now that the Colombia international has reportedly been involved in talks at Craven Cottage with Martin Jol

Everton were hopeful of signing up Rodallega when his contract expired at the Latics, but it looks like the 26 year old fancies a move away from the North West and a switch to London could well suit the Latics all time Premier League record scorer considering the large Colombian community that is based there.
