Ten point deduction for Palace

Am I being naive or is this very harsh? The FA seem to hand these out with casual abandon, surely this is not the right way to get a club back on it's feet.

Same rules for any club going into administration. 10 point deduction unless already relegated in which case penalty applies following season

What upsets me though is that when Jordan has sold up and paid himself back that club will still be in ruins and have nothing to show for a pretty good season. If I were a Palace STH I would be disgusted. The fans are the only losers in this situation.

Running a club into the ground certainly isn't right, but why punish small clubs more harshly than big clubs? I.e. Why not punish Manchester United, Liverpool etc. for similar financial irresponability? Or for that matter clubs like City who drive inflation in the football market (which pushes up prices even far down the table).

The points deduction rule is in place presumably so that clubs can't gain an advantage by overspending, but this is exactly what many of the big clubs do. They just have a enough cash that they can overspend in more clever ways.

Plus why issue the deduction now? Surely it would have been fairer to give them until the end of the season to sort their finances out. The independent seemed to think that they could have avoided/delayed it if the Moses sale went through by Monday.

...well first it is easy to pick on the smaller clubs, they can't fight back, and don't have the vocal support of the bigger teams.

What annoys me more than anything is that west ham united were not fined or deducted points after being found guilty of obvious financial irregularities and cheating as the FA thought that it was unfair to penalise the fans of whu.

What about the fans of Crippled Alice and Luton. Double standards by the FA who know what side their bread is buttered...

There seems to be a special dispensation for Prem clubs, however. How Pompey can continually welsh on payments to clubs over transfers and not play their players on time and still escape administration is beyond me.
