if QPR return to the big time they really will complete with us? Harry knows what he's doing unlike an other certain QPR manager who went to Stoke. He's made some great signings(even if they're on loan) in Tom Carroll, Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Niko Kranjcar. this isnt me getting too upset because we'll have a years advantage over them. I honestly have been a massive supporter of Martin Jol and never wanted him to go but i would LOVE to see improvement but at the moment we seem really negative at home and away. the most negative i have actually seen us at home in the premier league era. we have signed some top class quility and I personally feel with the money we've got now, Martin is drawing up transfer plans throughout the summer and we'll have a top side by the start of next year.

A lot of the fickle fans atm were saying exactly the same last season when they signed Mbia etc. saying how much ambition they showed etc.... I wouldn't be so certain even with the decent signings, that they will come back up, its a long hard season in that league and nothing is certain.

Shouldn't be worrying about QPR right now. They're a nonentity...

In the past we only cared about Chelscum as our natural rivals.  I still think that way, why would I care particularly about QPR?  They are of no more or less relevance to me than say Gillingham, Brentford or Milwall.  If they come up they are just another promoted team, no different to any other e.g Palace.  They happen to be in the London area but so what?

"They happen to be in the London area but so what" - They happen to be in our area of London, that traditionally qualifies for rival status. I personally DO care about them. They're a dreadful team, with awful fans. I take more pleasure beating them than ANY other team.

Seems foolish I think to worry about the likes of QPR.

If we get relegated or they come up, then we can look forward to renewing the rivalry.

In any event, QPR do not have a sustainable business model.  They have neither the broad appeal, ground capacity or brand to be of much concern.  In short, they're every bit as unfashionable as us.

We spend next to nothing on transfers, they spend millions they don't have.  We're being sensible, they're on a burn out.  Amazing considering what he did at Pompey that they're willing to let Redknapp do it all over again, but there you go..

I'd be much more concerned about the Leeds United, Nottingham Forests and Sheffield Wednesdays of this world to be honest as they are just plain "bigger clubs" than us and would most likely do very well in the medium to long run if they can avoid the drop their first season back up.

No. I don't think many of us are bothered in the slightest what happens with that lot. I've said before that I genuinely didn't give them a 2nd thought for 12 of the last 14 years, and I'm back to not caring.
As for Redknapp 'knowing what he's doing', it didn't look that way last season when he got them relegated. He had plenty of time, (took over Oct / Nov?), had a transfer window but down they went!

valdeingruo

He is just signing players that used to play for him at Spurs, the only reason why they are there (sound familiar?) With the quality of player they have compared to the rest of the league of course they are going to look good, especially since they seem to have gotten most of the bad eggs out and remembered to play as a team. Its essentially telling a mid table team to have a year off, enjoy themselves in the Championship and see you next season.
Self proclaimed tactical genius, football manager approved.

Exactly right Whiteroom - they are in the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, and are much more of a significant rival than Chelsea (other than in some peoples dreams).
Having grown up closer to Loftus Road than Craven Cottage (thanks Dad  049:gif) , I can't abide QPR, or their deluded, muppet fans.

It may be that you are relatively young fans and so have only known the current situation where Chelsea have been funded by a wealthy Russian cr**k, sorry I meant oligarch.  Over the years that was not always the case and there have been times when Fulham were the dominant club, so to regard Chelsea as our rivals is not wishful thinking at all.  Nothing lasts for ever if/when their owner gets bored or sees his pile being nicked by another robber baron (sorry fellow oligarch) he could well pull out.  We could then see them in freefall.  So yes, I am proud enough of my club to aspire to rivalry with Chelsea, who are also the more local club, and not with  bunch of nonentities who are on the fringes of the borough.
I don't hate their fans or players (I keep hatred for dictators, murderers, child molesters and other vermin) I just enjoy friendly rivalry with the blues and cannot see the fascination with QPR (perhaps if I was a Brentford fan?).
Not knocking your desire to slag off QPR I just don't get it.

Shouldn't be worrying about them period. Anal discharges pure and simple.

Harry is not a good manager. He knows how to wheel and deal, 'Here you are son, say no more, put it in yer back pocket, all friendly like, man of the people'. But that doesn't make him a good manager as last season proved.

Hughes on the hand is and will prove it again, as he did with us.

If QPR do come up and we stay up then it will mean we can feel as superior to them as Chelscum feel to us. Buying players is one thing. Making it work in the Prem is another.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

I think they should only be known as 'the anal discharge' from now on, all part of their re-branding under that dopey clueless owner of theirs.

Anal discharge 0 - 3 Fulham

Suits them perfectly!

Twig I've been going since the early-mid 70s, and Fulham finished higher than Chelsea just once I think in all that time (82/83).

Seeing as the late 60s were also a time when we were on the decline, can you let me know how old we have to be to remember a spell of more than a year or two when we were the dominant club in Fulham?

I'm just trying to make the point that, pure geography aside, we've not been on Chelsea's radar in any shape form for a generation or two, and that isn't going to change any time soon.

Also, like it or not, Chelsea fans humour us rather than look at us even half seriously as rivals, and as much as I would like to stick it back up them few more times, and change that feeling, it's not really happened in 13 years of playing them twice a year.

QPR are on the other hand are very similar in size and fan base, and to me it is just more of a natural rivalry.

I guess it's all down to personal experience, and I know full well that some of the older lot have good reason to despise the 'filth' as they call them, especially if they were on the receiving end of their 1970s 'hospitality' (or bullying if we're totally honest), but I just about missed all that due to my young age at the time, and I can honestly say the only time Chelsea wind me up is when we play them.

QPR on the other hand are annoying at the mere mention of them (a bit like Brentford in the early 90's I suppose)
