- Moved to Germany when he was 3 months old.
- He's played for Germany's under 17 & 21 national team.
- Carlos Queiroz, Alex Fergousan's previous assistant coach & Irans current coach invited Dejagah to the national team last year.
-  Felix Magath coached him in Wolfsburg & they won the championship in Bundesliga. It was also Magath who allowed him to get transferred to Fulham.
- He is considered Irans best player & a big reason why they made it to the World Cup. His value will go up much higher after the World Cup & will be considered one of the most under rated players in the world.
- Over 15 million people watch Fulham's games in Iran.

Good post, good info and welcome to the board!

"- Over 15 million people watch Fulham's games in Iran."

Astonishing.

Nice to have another Iranian here! Salam dadash!
I for one cannot wait for Dejagah to light it up in the World Cup... but until then, COME ON YOU WHITES.

FulhamIran

Thanks! Yeah, who would of thought Fulham would be our favorite team in the EPL.

At least 15 million. And this is how some others follow Fulham:

Great post. A fwe questions for you. When we play do most iranians care for the result? Or is it ok if we lose but Dejagah plays well? What do you think when Dejagah doesnt start? Are most Iranians happy with Dejagah at Fulham or do they think he should move to another club?

It will be interesting to compare the responses here to how US fans felt about Dempsey :)

I've said this before, but I'm paying attention to Iran in the World Cup both for Dejagah, and also in case Steven Beitashour makes the squad.  He is unfortunately no longer with the San Jose Earthquakes, but I still like him.  (Dejagah is much better, but I've never seen Dejagah play in person.)

Anyways, welcome FulhamIran.

Does your league still feature the American striker who was so good the last couple of years?

Thanks for the information, although I have my doubts over whether he is "one of the most under rated players in the world".

He's a good Premier League player, absolutely. But would he be a starter at Man City or Chelsea? I don't think so. I might be wrong.

Are you kidding ...!? I'm losing sleep over Fulham's standing on the chart.
Thats why I know the upcoming fixtures for all the other bottom teams.. Specially Norwich!
But of course if he plays good, and Fulham loses we still feel somewhat positive for contributing.

As far as which team we'd rather see him play for ... Any team that would utilize him best, give maximum exposure & allow him to showcase his talent. You have to understand that as a nation we are very prideful & also live for football. He's our pride & we love it when you guys chant his name.  Specially during a time where the western media is trying its best to make out country look bad.
Since him & Magath have major history we feel that this might be match made in heaven!

He is underrated. You have to understand that he was borderline a national team German player.

Thanks for the love guys!

What interests me is that Rene dropped him but he has flourished under Felix. Not quite sure why.

Great to hear that FFC is so popular in Iran. When the world is troubled it's positive that people can find something in common, from that understanding can flow.

Dejagah can come on and make all the difference. If my other half comes to a match he often comments and about this, he's a neutral so his opinion isn't biased at all. Hope Dejagah stays with Fulham

bit different. iranian owner, iranian mcbride's bar at the cottage, lineage of iranian players for decades... wouldn't be so quick to judge them as superficial as the phony american fans.

Welcome and thanks for the stats; had no idea the ratings were that high. Dejagah has real quality.

I like him. He could develop into having a long premiership career, hopefully with us. He is strong as an ox and fast for someone with his body shape. My only concerns with him are his fitness, he is a little injury prone.

I'm not quiet sure about the back story of the American 'soccer' fan situation .. Hehe.... I'm actually Iranian/American myself. I was born in Texas but lived in Iran for 10 years.  I have no doubt if it wasn't for nba, nfl (American football) & baseball they would have been one of the strongest countries in football... Some of their athletes are truly super human! Have you seen Lebrons James?!

Him Magath won the championship together in the Bundesliga as underdogs!
Ashkan was considered his top 3 player! Of course he knows how to use him.
It's so weird how they randomly ended up together again.

At the moment he seems to be used as an impact sub, and to pretty good effect in recent matches.

Makes you wonder what it would be like if he started more regularly. He has a great partnership with Riether, and he carries a big threat whenever he goes forward.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Fulhamishness.

FYI:  I actually lived/worked in Iran from 1974/1976 at the Casino in Ramsar, a great experience apart
from experiencing my first earthquake  !
I actually flew home from Iran for  the Cup final in '76

Cheers

I rate him as a player and Felix certainly gets more out of him than Jol did.  When someone on this board saw him outside the Cottage, not playing apparently he looked really peed off. What I was really wondering (and perhaps didn't make clear) was why Rene sidelined him.
