Players saying Roy might go...

It's worth reminding yourself, every time you read something attributed to one of our heroes in a newspaper, that for all the affection they, hopefully, hold for Fulham, none of them are Fulham fans. To the likes of Clint Dempsey and Mark Schwarzer, football is a career, whether as a player or manager. Under those circumstances, if they are asked should Roy go to Liverpool if they make him a better offer than Fulham, of course they will answer, "Yes."
If anyone comes in with a fantastic offer for any of our squad, they too would want to take it up. Whilst the likes of you and me would sell family, friends and possibly our souls for the chance to play for the Mighty Whites, a professional footballer has to take a far more dispassionate view. It is a fairly short career for most players, high wages seem to lead to high living standards and equally high bills, and they are well aware that when they can no longer perform to the levels we demand, Fulham FC will pat them on the back, wish them well, and stop paying them. No less a man than Jimmy Hill once told me (about twenty years ago) that in football, loyalty stops at the chequebook. This remains true today.

So, try not to get too concerned when reading comments by players. What will be, will be.
We'll be there next season, regardless.
Any fool can criticise, condemn and complain, and most fools do.
