Maybe Cardiff are favourites as they have the experience of a promotion push. We haven't for over a decade.

Those setting the odds have the info that we do but are impartial . So as it stands Fulham in the play offs but not automatically promoted - sounds reasonable enough.
I hope for upside surprises

I think Fulham, Derby and Wigan will have the strongest teams next season, we are much better than a mediocre club at present.

Will back us to get promoted and a bit on us to win the league.....

I don't think we are going to get promoted. I just don't think we have a good enough squad or the right squad to do it. Or even a squad with enough depth. I think we'll make the playoffs and maybe even make the final but I think that's as far as we'll go. Next year is probably a more realistic goal.

Do people here seriously think Cardiff have a better shot of promotion than we do this season? I understand the reality of the situation but lets also have some backbone and grit, we need to toss some determination/optimism in with reality.

No we don't. Optimism and grit don't give a toss when reality comes around. We haven't yet got a squad good enough for promotion. No amount of pretending will make it so. Still plenty of time to improve.

Plus 1 or whatever ..... Huge squad improvement required to snatch one of the top spots.
The atmosphere's fresh and the debate lively.

Based on the survey I ran http://www.vivaelfulham.co.uk/articles/pre-season-prediction-survey-7-438.html and looking at how people rated the clubs in the championship, they see the league finishing in this order:

1   Fulham
2   Derby County
3   Cardiff City
4   Norwich City
5   Wigan Athletic
6   Nottingham Forest
7   Brighton & Hove Albion
8   Reading
9   Blackburn Rovers
10   Watford
11   Ipswich Town
12   Wolverhampton Wanderers
13   Bolton Wanderers
14   Middlesbrough
15   Birmingham City
16   Sheffield Wednesday
17   Charlton Athletic
18   AFC Bournemouth
19   Leeds United
20   Huddersfield Town
21   Millwall
22   Brentford
23   Blackpool
24   Rotherham United

I think it's important to remember quite how untested much of our squad is. On paper, I think you can look at Derby, Wigan and Cardiff as having the "best squads". But, if our youth can translate much of their promise into performance, well be very strong. However, that "if" is a pretty big one, and will be debated hotly until we've played a few games.

I think well do ok, but would reserve judgement until a few games in.

This.

We can be bias both positively and negatively for our club. We have our emotions wrapped up and a predisposition to the situation. Odds makers have only numbers. Their not going to give away cheap odds for anything. That shouldn't inherently imply that we have a good club but I think the use of mediocre is run a little loose.

I expect with the strikers that we have acquired are going to get their share of shots. The question I have at this time is can we actually limit the shots that we'll receive to post a respectable total shot ratio (tsr) which will be the difference between us in a top-2 spot and fighting for entry into the playoffs. TSR is a good baseline for a predictions and could give us some insight to the future of the table.

I've done an each way bet on winning the Championship. Odds were 9:1 with 1/4 odds if we end up in the top 3.

I agree with Craven Mad. We don't know how good our youngsters are yet. Also they will be better in the second half of the season than the first...
