This is very sad and shows that some celebrations should not happen.

Indian soccer player dies following tragic goal celebration

A soccer player in India died Sunday after injuring himself while celebrating a goal earlier last week in the Mizoram Premier League.

Peter Biaksangzuala, a 23-year-old midfielder on Bethlehem Vengthlang, scored against Chanmari West FC but he landed awkwardly after attempting several somersaults and suffered serious spinal cord damage. Here's video of the accident. Viewer discretion is advised.

After scoring a 62nd-minute goal on Tuesday, Biaksangzuala attemped the acrobatic celebration reportedly in honor of Germany's Miroslav Klose, who performed a similar celebration at the World Cup. Biaksangzuala's teammates rushed to him after he fell, and he was immediately taken to an intensive care unit at Aizawl Civil Hospital. He was there for five days before his death.

Anyone can blend into the crowd.  How will you standout when it counts?

Or does that not count because it doesn't fit your grouch-centric opinion?

Sounds tragic and so I cannot bring myself to watch the video.

Let's hope that it serves to restrain someone else from doing the same.

From one Sgt to another ... that's the reason I've stopped reading comments on on-line news articles or videos. It's disheartening to be exposed to all that hatred on a regularly basis.

Here is a tribute news item to the player, includes a quick bio on the guy.

At least the comments are respectful.

No didn't watch the vid but have often wondered about the dangers of those somersaults. Even the sliding along on your knees surely risks a serious knee injury

Berserker

I haven't watched the video, I can never do that where people or animals get hurt. It is a very sad event for the player especially after being so jubilant.

I must say i am not a fan of all this celebrations business, players cart wheels, dancing moves, give me the good old pat on back and handshake, that is all it needs. I see it now in cricket a bowler takes a wicket and off they go running around high fives with anything in their way.

Not for me all this.

I agree.  Act like you've been there is what my coach used to say.  Act like you've been there.

Well, they stopped them going to the crowd, they stopped them taking off their shirts, I guess exuberant celebrating is next on the list.

Its a pity really that some players feel they need to emulate the great stars. Then again, we had one such player that did that kind of celebration - now who was that then?

Act like you expect to score again.
