Great memories -I saw the semi-final and the replay -that last moment of the replay when the ball bounced into the Brum net off of John Mitchell's knee was one of the highlights, if not THE highlight, of my Fulham supporting career.

I also was at the Final, and the Carlisle game, where Les scored I seem to remember.

Thanks for that. What memories. Happy birthday Les, and best wishes to Jimmy Conway, who edged it for me as my favourite player.

...Ray, here is Les's poached goal to take us through to the semi-finals. Even so it was Peter Mellor's stellar performance that kept our dreams alive, he was magnificent, especially bearing in mind the Carlisle fans were throwing things at him - I remember Alec Stock incandescent with rage at what was going on. That has to rank as one of the scariest trips away, the fans were extremely aggressive, the police were just as bad, no protection and the atmosphere was really poisonous.

Glad we gave them further comeuppance when Mr McAree hit that stormer to start the promotion years..

Those clips brought back some great memories, I was behind the Birmingham goal where Mitch scored, oh the elation of that moment comes flooding back to me.

We had a very good team that season with a clever manager but the noticeable feature is the pace and skill of Barrat and Conway, wish we had wide men today with pace who were prepared to attack  defenders on the outside.

Thanks for that LB11.

I remember marching through the Carlisle streets with a police escort to and from the ground, and the scary atmosphere during the game, but we erupted when Les scored, and the celebrations continued all the way back to London.

Happy Birthday Les -what a player - truly a Fulham legend.
