Last time we were down there in 96 we ended up in The Bulldog on St James Street.  That's a decent one.

The Camelford Arms and Marine Tavern are good too.  None of these are too tourist-y, just good old fashioned boozers.  Proper pubs, I'd call them.
Busted, you naughty boy. Yes, they are great pubs and probably even better if you are gay.

And the Worlds End on London Road is supposed to have the best BBQ pit in the UK, although I don't think they do halloumi. Off London Rd on Baker Street is a very good Harvey's pub (The Mitre) and arguably Brighton's best fish and chip shop Bardsleys (does sit-down as well).

I am going to bump this thread, as I think it is very useful to those travelling down at the weekend, who may have missed it.

I always associate trouble with Brighton. I remember one particular game at their old ground in mid 90's. Was like a war zone getting back to the station,  almost hand to hand through the streets.

Remember it well, there was a right old scrap going on by the clock in middle
of the road at end of Western Rd.
Some old local lady got caught in middle of it and got knocked to the
ground, we stayed with her till she got her bearings and felt better, for our troubles
she said as she walked off(cant quite remember exactly now) think it was "Why dont
you Fulham Nonces Get to fxxk"  .We had a laughing fit on the train out of Brighton. .Hillarious
it were she was about 90..

That probably would've been the Adams promotion season when we took thousands down there.I was literally one of the last ones let in as they closed the turnstiles to the away end. There were hundreds still queuing outside. A lot of those got in the Brighton stands including a large group who got escorted out by the police and around the pitch into a disused bit next to the away end. Crowd was over 8000 and half were Fulham fans.
Lots of trouble around the station it kicked off in a bar on the pier too

What a great Thread Shredhead!!! The only trouble is there is too much choice in our beloved Brighton, so we're going to have difficulty finding each other !!! A real ale pub crawl, sounds on the cards.....see you in the Nelson or the Basketmakers.

It takes 2 to fight.....

Anyone who goes to the weatherspoons in West Street ....  :046:

Whatever one chooses, enjoy yourself. Most people do when they visit Brighton..... 082.gif

Worlds End BBQ is banging, but as I sad just now in another post, I shall be running straight from the train to Burger Brothers for the worlds tastiest burger!

I did suggest that we have an away 'sticky' for pubs, travel, meeting and tips etc prior to the away game at Ipswich. It went well but petered out after that

JMS. My daughter has decided to go to the ground with a close family friend who is a season ticket holder at the Amex (although really a fan of another team - a common phenonemon since they moved to the Amex). Which leaves me free to meet and imbibe. Let's text each other - I'll probably head for the Nelson and then onto the station for the long queue.

Bumped.
Also,  if you like original ska and are in Brighton tomorrow night get down to Skatadays at Riki Tiks in Bond St. One of the DJs is a big Fulham fan. 9pm-1am.
