how do you fill you time in the 'closed season'?

I shall be taking things easy, this season has been too fraught for me.

I plan to spend a goodly amount of time in the garden, catching the sun, drinking beer...

What's that dear?

Mow the lawn, weed the beds, fix the windows, sweep the patio.... and 100 other chores?

:58:

Sigh!

....I've taken up building model aircraft (Airfix type stuff)

I approve!

Tonywa

Cricket which is my favourite sport anyway, so I rather regard the football as filling in between cricket seasons rather than the other way round ;-)

snarks

Getting fitt(er) increase my running (providing the dodgy hamstring calms down a bit) and sea swimming.

As an aside, did you know the sea in May is colder than it is in November!!

Oh and play some golf.

Yes, because water heats and cools much more slowly than land does, so it retains winter chill and summer warmth for longer.

Logicalman

It's a big issue in our house cos we both watch or listen to the Fulham match, as well as watch some half dozen Prem matches and the odd Championship match when broadcast, every week!!

This Summer we move house, so a couple of the weeks will be taken up with other things, but come mid July, and thenrext 5 or 6 weeks will be a struggle.

Please, nobody suggest watching anything like MLS as a substitute, I'd rather take up walking around hitting a little ball with a stick!!
Logical is just in the name - don't expect it has anything to do with my thought process, because I AM the man who sold the world.

Male Escorting with lonely afluent women, who need a real man for company, and are willing to pay handsomely to be pleasured.

now that footie has gone on holiday until August what do you do?

myself I've taken up building model aircraft (Airfix type stuff) to while away the hours
I hated biplanes - especially the Fairey Swordfish.  The struts never seemed to support the top wing and they always fell off.  My favourite was the English Electric Lightning - lovely to behold and easy to paint (all silver).  After that, just about anything from WW2.  Currently, I paint scale model soldiers (mostly Andrea and Pegasus 200mm busts).

Agreed. I'm currently recovering from a back injury so I'm in the frustrating position of organising my team's games every weekend but not able to play

Cricket.... And it couldn't come quick enough following the season we had!

Cricket, absolutely.

I like Stephen Fry's quote; "Cricket is proof that God loves us, and wants us to be happy...."

...perhaps our cross-pond cousins might say the same about Baseball?

Back injuries generally happen when you spend far too much time bending down looking through Keyholes.

There is no comparison between the great and wonderful game of Cricket.            ( Willow against Leather ).

And something that's is another form if rounders, but less skilfull.
