Tottenham star expresses his gratitude to Fulham fans

Tottenham's Moussa Dembele has admitted that it was nice to return to the home ground of his former team Fulham during Spurs' 3-0 win in the FA Cup at Craven Cottage.

The Belgian played for Fulham from 2010 to 2012 after arriving from Dutch club AZ Alkmaar before transferring to Tottenham in 2012.

The 29 year old received a hero's welcome from fans of his former team as his current team enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 win thanks to a splendid hat-trick from Harry Kane.

Dembele admitted that what made the match special to him was enjoying support of both the Tottenham and Fulham fans. He tweeted, "Thanks for the support from both the Spurs and Fulham fans, nice to be back."

Dembele has made 24 appearances in all competitions for Spurs this season and has managed one assist this season. He will likely see out his contract, which expires in 2019.

Report: Tottenham ready to raid Championship club for wonderkid

After beating London counterparts Fulham 3-0 in their FA Cup tie on Sunday, Tottenham are hoping to inflict further damage on their rivals by signing starlet Ryan Sessegnon.

Pochettino has been an admirer of Sessegnon, who played against Tottenham on Sunday coming on a second half substitute at Craven Cottage.

Reports of Spurs being linked with Sessegnon have now resurfaced, with the Daily Mail reporting that he has been placed near the top of the North London club's transfer list.

Purchasing Sessegnon will not be easy nor cheap for Tottenham, however it would certainly be a good move. Danny Rose has established himself as the first choice left back while Ben Davies has failed to provide competition by disappointing when given the opportunity.

Sessegnon would not make the first team for League matches; however he would be good for playing in Cup matches as well as possibly providing increased competition for Rose.

Benfica star who cost Fulham £3.6M for every appearance he made for them lined up by Chinese side in stunning £38M move

Fulham flop Kostas Mitroglou is a £38million transfer target for Chinese Super League side Tianjin Quanjian, report The Sun.

Mitroglou signed for Fulham on Deadline Day in the winter of 2014, for what the BBC reported to be an £11million fee. It has to go down as one of the worst pieces of business in Premier League history, as he made just three appearances as failed to find the back of the net.

He subsequently moved to Benfica, where he has made considerable steps towards rebuilding his reputation. Mitroglou bagged 25 goals for the Portuguese giants last term, and has already fired home 20 this time around.

As is the nature of modern football, Mitroglou's good form does not appear to have gone unnoticed in the Far East. The Sun cite Greek reports in claiming that Chinese Super League side Tianjin Quanjian are preparing a £38million move for the Benfica star. That'll undoubtedly make the Fulham faithful sick to their stomachs.

Pembs' Spurs Reaction

Fulham Under-18's travelled to Tottenham Hotspur on Friday and ran out 3-0 winners. Goals from Matt O'Riley and substitute Cameron Thompson ensured the win in the second half, after Jayden Harris forced an own goal just before the break.

"I think the performance all round was excellent" commented Head Coach, Mark Pembridge. "The work ethic, intensity in and out of possession was excellent. It was a great advert for youth football.

"The game was played at a really high tempo for the first half an hour, we weathered that storm and managed to go a goal up at half time through an own which gave us a bit of confidence for the second half.

"In the second half we played excellent, I thought we passed the ball really well and we got our rewards from it.

"If I'm honest it could have been a few more in the end, we had enough chances, we created some really good chances and there was some really good play as well."

That win makes it four wins and a draw out of the last five matches with three wins on the bounce. "It has taken a little while to get that consistency, but we are starting to get there now", noted Pembridge.

"The boys are starting to understand the expectations week in week out. You know, they are gelling together really well. Winning, it's a good habit to have."

The Whites pressed well in the second half and kept the ball, limiting Spurs attacking chances. "At half time we identified their game plan, when it goes to the full backs they press us quite quickly.

"We identified that and told the boys that we needed to up our tempo, we needed to pass a little bit quicker, little bit sharper. Maybe one touch, two touch play. A couple of passes and then we get out and break their press.

"We did it brilliantly I thought, we kept the ball really well through a really good passage of play in the second half. We created chances off the back of it, we just needed that final touch, that little bit of quality to hit the target or the make keeper make a good save."

Fulham are now fifth in the league and only two points off West Ham, who sit in the final spot of the league that will be in the first division when the leagues split. The Whites face Norwich in their next game, asked on his thoughts on the opposition, Pembridge added "I think Norwich are well organised, we played them up there early in the season and we ran out winners.

"But they are quite physically strong, they have a strong academy so it will be a good challenge for us.

"Hopefully we can finish on a high leading into the league getting broken down into divisions and we can be in and amongst it."

The Norwich match kicks off Saturday March 4th midday, at Motspur Park.

Lee Johnson hoping Bristol City can replicate reverse display against Fulham

Bristol City manager Lee Johnson is counting on his side replicating their display against Fulham earlier in the season when the two clubs meet on Wednesday night at Ashton Gate.
City produced one of their best performances since Johnson took charge just over a year ago as they beat Fulham 4-0 at Craven Cottage in September and the Robins boss has used video footage of that encounter to inspire his players.
"Certainly the second half was outstanding and we've watched it back actually because I think that game's perceived as probably our best of the season," Johnson told the club's official website.
"It was a really tight game, but once we got the second goal they went very expansive and we killed them a couple of times on the counter and really secured the last 10 to 15 minutes well.
"So a similar performance would be great. If not, I'll settle for a 1-0 win."
The Robins will be without 21-goal striker Tammy Abraham after the Chelsea loanee was ruled out for "two to three weeks" due to a thigh injury sustained in last week's defeat at Leeds.
"It's a big loss for us given how many goals he's scored this season and how good he's been," Johnson added.
"But it's the best case scenario because at one point we thought it could be six to eight weeks."
Defender Mark Little has been ruled out for a month after tearing his hamstring in the same game, so Zak Vyner and Adam Matthews are vying to step in at right-back.
Fulham must regroup quickly following their FA Cup exit at the hands of London rivals Tottenham at the weekend, with boss Slavisa Jokanovic spelling out where his side's priorities now lie.
"We must forget this competition, we're finished in the FA Cup," Jokanovic said after his side's 3-0 home defeat on Sunday.
"We have to rest and be ready for what is important right now, which is fighting for the top six and the next chance for us is Wednesday night."
Fulham fans will be gunning for revenge against the Robins, who also knocked the Londoners out of the EFL Cup three days before that 4-0 league win in September.

Bristol City vs. Fulham Preview: Three questions with The Exiled Robin
Fulham could use a win and a good performance. Bristol City desperately need a result. The Exiled Robin stops by to give us their thoughts on the match.

Cottagers Confidential: Bristol City are tied for the fewest wins in the league, and are only two points out of the relegation zone. How much faith do you have that they'll stay up this year?

The Exiled Robin: I still remain confident, strangely. The general feeling is we've got a good enough side and squad to sit comfortably in mid-table, and that's not just from our own fans. Something needs to be changed to make that work, however. Many believe that's the manager and therefore the tactics, others will say it simply requires a change of fortune. No-one's thrashing us, no-one's playing us out of games and in almost every single defeat we've had a genuine chance to take one, if not all three points well into the second half. Only once all season have we been defeated by more than a single goal, which tells a myriad stories.

CC: While you do have a negative goal differential, it's not as bad as many of the teams around you. Is Bristol City a team that is better than their record who has just got unlucky? What's gone wrong for the team this year? Has anything gone right?

TEB: Yes absolutely, as indicated above, we're clearly not a million miles away from most other teams in this division on a game-by-game basis, unfortunately we've got ourselves on a dreadful run and confidence has taken a battering. We've thrown away two or three goal leads three times already in 2017, which tells you everything you need to know about our defensive frailties, our lack of organisation, the extreme lack of confidence, perhaps fitness, but also our ability to have got well ahead in those games, against decent, top half teams, which are the green shoots we are all hanging on to!

CC: If you were the manager, how would you set up Bristol City to play against a team like Fulham who will want to keep the ball for most of the game?

TEB: Well, having beaten you 4-0 at Craven Cottage earlier in the season, and again in the league cup, we obviously had a formula that worked then and I'm sure we're looking to repeat. You've obviously improved since then and do retain the ball well, but having watched some of your games, including Sunday, I'd say you're still susceptible to pace down the flanks getting in behind your full-backs, and that's something we exploited back in September. Tammy Abraham has been ruled out with injury, which should mean a start for new signing Matty Taylor who'll buzz in and around the defence all afternoon, and hopefully pressure them into making a mistake.

CC: Prediction?

TEB: I haven't predicted a City win for weeks and weeks but I'm going to stick my neck on the line and say we'll win 2-1. We'll never keep a clean sheet, but hopefully we can take the confidence from our previous wins against you to eke out a desperately needed three points.

Fredericks: Regain Focus

Following a three game absence through suspension Ryan Fredericks is once again eligible to feature for the Whites and is determined to get back out on the field.

After two successive home League wins, Fulham bowed out of the Emirates FA Cup on Sunday afternoon against Tottenham Hotspur and will be looking to get back to winning ways against Bristol City.

"It's been three games now and I'm ready to get back into it," Fredericks told the Club's Official Website. "I went to watch them all.

"I just can't to get back out there and help the lads. It was tough to not be a part of it for the last few weeks.

"The Cup was like an added bonus for us and we went on a nice little run but the most important thing for us is the League.

"We can now get our main focus back.

"We want to push on for the top six and get promoted and now we can focus on that fully."

After a positive start to the season, The Robins find themselves perilously close to the relegation zone and will be looking for the clean sweep over the Whites after two successive wins at Craven Cottage earlier in the season.

"Bristol are battling for their Championship lives," he stated. "They are going to play at high intensity and we are experienced enough to deal with it.

"We have to be ready for it. There are no easy games in this League.

"It will be nice to go there and get one back over them after they beat us twice at our place earlier in the year."

After the midweek trip to Bristol, Fulham will make the trip West to take on another familiar foe in Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon.

After a comfortable FA Cup victory over the Bluebirds in the New Year a distinct upturn in fortunes has seen them fly up the table on the back on successive away wins.

Fredericks is fully aware of the new challenge that they will face at the Cardiff City Stadium come Saturday but insists all minds are firmly set on Bristol in the meantime.

"We played them a couple of weeks ago in the Cup and came away with the win," he reflected. "But they are a much improved team and we will have to be prepared for a different encounter.

"The League is full of tough matches and this week will be no different. We need to be prepared."

Bristol City v Fulham

WED, 22 FEB 2017CHAMPIONSHIP
Venue: Ashton Gate

Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham has scored 21 goals in all competitions this season

BBC coverage
How to follow:
BBC local radio; live text commentary on the BBC Sport website

Bristol City will be without top scorer Tammy Abraham for two to three weeks because of a thigh injury.

Right-back Mark Little (hamstring) is out for about a month, so either Zak Vyner or Adam Matthews could feature.

Defender Ryan Fredericks is available for Fulham after serving a three-match ban for a straight red card in their 4 February defeat at Birmingham City.

Top scorer Chris Martin could start after missing last weekend's 3-0 FA Cup loss to Tottenham Hotspur.

Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson told BBC Radio Bristol:

"We have been in many good positions this year and have folded on too many occasions.

"That resilience can be nurtured. We are still quite a young Championship group.

"It is that resilience that all of us have just got to find. When we do, we'll be a much better side for it.

Analysis
BBC Radio Bristol commentator Ed Hadwin:

"City come into this game having won just one of their past 12 games in the Championship, and with trips to Newcastle and Aston Villa to come in the next seven days.

"Lee Johnson's side have been competitive in almost all of the matches during that run, but have conceded too easily when they've been under the cosh.

"That's something they need to improve on if they're to move away from the bottom three."

Match facts
Bristol City have the last two league clashes with Fulham; they've never won three consecutively against them.
Fulham have won on three of their last four visits to Ashton Gate in the league (L1).
The Robins won just five points in their last 12 Championship matches (W1 D2 L9), fewer than any other team over this period.
Fulham will be looking to win three consecutive league games for the first time since August 2016.
Whites' top scorer Chris Martin has failed to find the net in each of his last four league apps, after a run of scoring in three consecutive games.

Sone Aluko and his birthday 'snub' from Fulham as Whites prepare to face Bristol City
No gifts from Spurs, naturally, and nothing from his own club either amuses Whites midfielder

Sone Aluko joked Fulham were too embroiled in Sunday's FA Cup tie against Tottenham to wish him a happy 28th birthday.

The Whites midfielder took to social media to castigate the club, but admitted, like everyone else he was too wrapped up to miss blowing out candles as the club blew it against Spurs.

A lack-lustre 3-0 defeat was hardly a fitting reward for a player who has lit up the Cottage since he arrived last summer from Hull.

But as he offered any journalist the chance of exclusive quotes for the so-called snub - Aluko did so tongue firmly in cheek.

He and the rest of the squad need to get back to celebrating wins - and have the perfect opportunity against Bristol City this evening who are Championship winners only once - and that against doomed Rotherham - in their last 12 outings.

Loan Round-Up

Both of Fulham's Burton Albion loanees played their part in the Brewers' important 2-1 win over play-off hopefuls Norwich City. The Canaries came into the game on a six game unbeaten run.

The breakthrough goal came in the 25th minute as Lasse Vigen Christensen nicked possession off Canaries' defender Tim Klosse in the box and squared an assist to Cauley Woodrow who stroked the ball into the back of the net.

Jerome equalised for Norwich in the 52nd minute but within two minutes Kightly struck an impressive winner. Woodrow was substituted in the 80th minute, and Christensen followed suite in the 88th.

Those three points leave Burton 4 points off the drop zone and Norwich seven points from the play-off spots.

Ryan Tunnicliffe played the full 90 minutes in Wigan's home match against Preston North End. The game finished 0-0 and the match hero was Lactics' goalkeeper Matt Gilks who saved a penalty to keep the game scoreless.

That point earned leaves Wigan two points from safety in the Championship.

In a League One relegation clash Cameron Burgess played 90 minutes for Bury in their valuable 2-1 away win over Chesterfield.

Tom Anderson was sent off in the 78th minute and gave a penalty away for Chesterfield when they were a goal to the good. The dramatic end to the match saw the penalty saved before Andrew Tutte scored in the 80th minute, and George Miller stole the winner deep into stoppage time.

Bury are now out of the drop zone, only on goal difference, whilst Chesterfield are now seven points from safety.

In League Two Sean Kavanagh played the full 90 minutes in Hartlepool United's home draw to Plymouth Argyle. Hartlepool were undone by a stunning strike by Matty Kennedy in the 76th minute to rescue a point for the Pilgrims.

It was a good point for Hartlepool who are now three points off the relegation places, and Plymouth push for promotion, three points off the summit with a game in hand.

Elsewhere in League Two, Marek Rodák starred between the sticks for Accrington Stanley in their 2-1 win over Colchester United.

Stanley defender Omar Beckles was sent off in the 45th minute after goals from Billy Kee and Matty Pearson, meaning they had to hold onto their lead for an entire half to see out the game. Rodak made 6 saves in the game, only conceding a penalty.

That win leaves Accrington in 19th place, four points above the relegation zone, and Colchester in 11th.

In Spain Jozabed featured in Celta Vigo's 3-0 win over Osasuna. He replaced Sanchez Ruiz an hour into the match when the game was at 1-0, and made his mark by doubling Celta's lead with a header from a corner. Ex-Liverpool winger Iago Aspas scored the third two minutes later to seal all three points.

That win leaves Celta Vigo in ninth place with a game in hand, and could move up to seventh. Osasuna stay rooted to the bottom of the table, eight points from safety.

In the Scottish Premier League Larnell Cole played the whole game for Inverness Caledonian Thistle in their away match to Hearts. It was a well earned point for Inverness who took the lead in the 24th minute through Carl Tremarco, before Hearts equalised in the 64th minute through Sutchuin-Djoum.

Inverness are bottom of the league, four points from safety whilst Hearts are in fourth place chasing Rangers.

Jokanovic bemoans £40million mistake, delivers warning about Sessegnon

Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic has said that his club made a mistake by allowing £40million-rated Moussa Dembele to join Celtic last summer.

The 20-year-old has been impressive for the Scottish giants this season, establishing himself as a key player of the first team under Brendan Rodgers. During his 41 matches in all competitions this season, the France under 21 international has bagged 26 goals.

"We make a big mistake," Jokanovic told The Times about Dembele. "We tried to get him to stay but in this modern life he prefers a different way. We are fortunate we don't make this mistake with Ryan Sessegnon."

Sessegnon is reportedly a target of Tottenham and Manchester City. It is unlikely that Fulham will be able to hold onto him as the prospect of playing for a trophy challenging team will surely be appealing.

However Jokanovic's comments do suggest that the 16-year-old will not be allowed to leave easily.

Why Cardiff must not allow performance levels to drop against Fulham

Neil Warnock's men will be hoping to build on a recent run good run of form but it's vitally important they don't get complacent.

The Bluebirds host Fulham on Saturday in the hope of making it four wins on the bounce following wins over Rotherham United, Derby County, and Leeds United respectively.

The Bluebirds have been ruthless in front of goal recently – scoring a total of 11 goals in just three games, and will be looking to build on that record when Fulham visit on Saturday.

It's clear that manager Neil Warnock is having an incredible effect on the players, and they've responded excellently.

However, it's important the Bluebirds don't take their foot of the gas. Fulham will be tricky opponents on Saturday – sitting in eighth place, nine points off the elusive play-off places.

The Cottagers dumped the Bluebirds out the FA Cup, as well as dominating the other League fixture at Craven Cottage – having a total of 62% possession, and recording 17 shots. However, Paul Trollope was in charge of the away draw.

Under Warnock, the Bluebirds are a completely different outfit. They're extremely hard to beat, and have a desire to win games, which didn't seem to exist when the now Brighton assistant was in charge.

There is no doubt what an impact Warnock has had on this team, and there is a real togetherness within the whole squad. The 68 year-old has the ability to make average players play well, and this has certainly worked well recently for the Bluebirds.

It's a case of taking it one step at a time. Patience is key, and although the play-offs look out of sight for the Bluebirds, there is still a lot of football to be played this season so who knows?

However, it's important not to get carried away, and ensure to concentrate on each individual game. For Cardiff's case it's about getting something out of the Fulham game then moving onto the QPR away fixture on the 4th of March.

Johnson eyes four in a row over Fulham

Head coach looking to continue City success against Cottagers.
Johnson looking to continue run of wins against Fulham
City have beaten the Cottagers in each of the last three meetings
Head coach relishing Red'N'White Night at Ashton Gate

Lee Johnson is hoping games against Fulham will continue to bring out the best in his players.

City host the Sky Bet Championship play-off chasers at Ashton Gate tonight (8pm), having won all three meetings since Johnson was appointed just over a year ago.

The hat-trick of victories all came at Craven Cottage – a pair of last-gasp 2-1 successes in league and cup, and most recently a 4-0 rout in West London last September.

"It's a game that we can win," Johnson told Bristol City Player HD. "We've beaten Fulham three times since I've been here and we want to make that four.

"It's just a case of the lads getting the confidence back from the first half against Derby, which was outstanding, and going out to enjoy a fantastic game under the lights against a good side."

Goals from Tammy Abraham, Luke Freeman, Bobby Reid and Aden Flint rounded off City's biggest win of the season last time out against the Cottagers.

"The second half performance was outstanding – we watched it back because I think that game is perceived as the best game of the season," Johnson continued.

"It was a really tight game, but once we got our second goal they went very expansive and we killed them a couple of times on the counter.

"A similar performance would be great – if not, I'll settle for a 1-0 win!

"Fulham are a good side. Statistically they have the most passes, along with Reading, in the division. It will be a tough encounter but one we tend to cope with quite well.

"It's a good game and one we're looking forward to. I'm sure it'll be very open, very end to end and we're going to go for the win."

Ashton Gate will play host to a Red'N'White Night – something Johnson believes can make a difference to his team, having experienced such occasions in his City playing days.

"It definitely gives you a boost – one hundred per cent," the head coach added.

"Our home form has been steady this year. Even the performances in the games that we've lost have been good and the fans have been good.

"This will be no different. We're in a position now where we need everybody. The players will definitely get a big pick-up from the noise and from the decibel level of Ashton Gate."

Tickets remain on general sale for Red'N'White Night at Ashton Gate, with the quid-a-kid offer up for grabs. Call 0117 963 0600 or buy online.

Ones to watch: Fulham

Three key players for tonight's opponents.
bcfc.co.uk looks at three key players who could feature for the Cottagers
City welcome Fulham to Ashton Gate this evening (8pm)
Aluko, Cairney and Martin are all profiled

Sone Aluko
Aluko has featured in all but one of Fulham's league games this season. His tireless efforts have seen him become a fan favourite at Craven Cottage, since swapping Hull City for Fulham in the summer. The London-born striker scored 15 goals in his 115 appearances for the Tigers, twice helping them win promotion to the Premier League – a feat Fulham will hope he can repeat with them. Despite his power and pace, the Nigerian international has only netted four times in the Championship this season, a statistic he will be hoping to improve under the floodlights in BS3.

Tom Cairney
Fulham secured the 26-year-old's services from Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 2015 for a fee thought to be in the region of £2.4m. Since his arrival from Blackburn Rovers, Cairney has emerged as a pivotal player in Slavisa Jokanovic's engine room and was resultantly handed the captain's armband in the summer. His eye-catching performances this term have reportedly triggered significant interest in the midfielder, but Fulham's £20m price tag has kept him at Craven Cottage. With six goals to his name this campaign, all of which have come from his wand of a left foot, City cannot grant him much space as he does have a habit of shooting from distance.

Chris Martin
On a season-long loan from Derby County, Martin quickly showed the West London club what he is about. The Suffolk-born front man sits top of Fulham's goalscoring charts with ten goals in all competitions, five of which have come in his last ten league outings. However, recent reports suggest the attacker is desperate to return to his parent club, penning a new long-term contract with the Rams. Despite making his feelings clear, the 28-year-old continues to impress in a Fulham shirt and his large frame, combined with his natural eye for goal, make him a nuisance for defenders – something Lee Johnson's side should be mindful of, if selected.

Preview: Fulham home

All you need to know about tonight's opponents.

FULHAM
The West London club have games in hand on their rivals all challenging for a top-six spot, but it still looks a tall order for Fulham to creep into the play-offs. Five wins in their last ten league matches showcases their indifferent form. In their most recent outing, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur - inspired by Harry Kane's hat-trick – were comfortable winners at Craven Cottage in the Emirates FA Cup fifth round.

HEAD COACH
Serb Slavisa Jokanovic first came to English football in 2000, when he joined Premier League Chelsea. It was more than 12 years before he returned to these shores to manage Watford, but he made a huge success of it. Jokanovic guided the Hornets into the Premier League as Championship runners-up in 2014/15, but was strangely never given the chance to take charge in the top flight. Now he is trying to do a similar job at Craven Cottage after being appointed Fulham boss in December 2015.

OFFICIALS
Tim Robinson will be in charge of the match, assisted by Andrew Fox and John Flynn. Kevin Johnson has been named as the fourth official.

TICKETS
The match is pay on the day for home fans. It's quid-a-kid across the ground for under-12s.

LAST TIME OUT
Fulham 0-4 Bristol City. September 24th 2016. Fresh from winning 2-1 at Craven Cottage in the EFL Cup, City thrashed their West London hosts in the sun. Tammy Abraham got the ball rolling in the first half, before a second-half onslaught saw Luke Freeman, Bobby Reid and Aden Flint all find the net. To make matters worse for Fulham, Kevin McDonald was shown a late red card.

LAST SEASON
Sky Bet Championship: 20th
FA Cup: Third Round (Lost to Sheffield Wednesday)
EFL Cup: Third Round (Lost to Stoke City)

DID YOU KNOW?
Fulham mascot Billy the Badger has been one of the most controversial furry friends at football grounds across the UK. First he was caught trying to cheer up Chelsea boss Avram Grant on live TV, and then he was sent off for break-dancing on the pitch in a league clash with Aston Villa. In March 2009 he even walked across the playing surface when Fulham scored...but fortunately the referee missed it!

ODDS
Sky Bet has installed Fulham as favourites at 13/10, with City priced 19/10. The draw is 5/2.

Academy USA Internationals

Whites academy players Marlon Fossey and Luca de la Torre have both travelled to the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship being held in Costa Rica.

They are representing the USA and in their match on Tuesday afternoon de la Torre scored against Haiti to put them in the lead in a game they went on to win 4-1.

This Tournament is doubled edged as it also acts as a qualifier for the Under-20 World Cup being held this summer in Korea. 16 out of 24 teams have already qualified from around the globe and this tournament will see four more added from the CONCACAF.

On Tuesday the USA won their second match in the tournament with a convincing win over Haiti. de la Torre scored as a corner was swung in, it was knocked down into his path and he coolly sweep the ball into the goal from 12 yards out. A hat-trick from Brooks Lennon secured the three points for the USA.

It was a much needed win for the USA having lost their first match 1-0 to Panama in the opening round, as they continue to seek their first Under-20 CONCACAF Championship in the USA's 23rd year in the tournament.

Both Fossey and de la Torre have had pivotal roles in this campaign, Fossey played the full 90 in both matches. In their opening game against Panama de la Torre was taken off in the 69th minute for Coy Craft, but was also on the pitch for the full game against Haiti.

That win puts the USA in second place over Haiti and behind Panama with one game to go. The top two teams go through the group stages and into the classification stages, which is two groups of three. The top two in the classification groups qualify for the World Cup, and the winners go on to the final to decide the winners of this years CONCACAF.

The USA's next game is bottom of the group St Kitts and Nevis, who have conceded nine goals in their last two games, as Haiti and Panama face each other. Kick off is 22.30pm GMT Friday 24th February and you can watch it live on the CONCACAF facebook page.

Jokanovic poised to sign two-year Fulham contract extension
by DAN on FEBRUARY 22, 2017

Slavisa Jokanovic is set to hand Fulham a major boost by agreeing a two-contract extension at Craven Cottage, according to a report in the Daily Mirror this afternoon.

The Serbian head coach has transformed the west London side from perennial relegation candidates to genuine contenders for a Championship play-off place this season but his current deal expires in the summer. Jokanovic had been linked with potential moves to Malaga and Werder Bremen and there were suggestions that he was unhappy at the club's failure to recruit further strikers in the January transfer window, but he is poised to commit his long-term future to Fulham.

Jokanovic, who guided Watford to promotion from the same division two years ago, recognises the importance of ending any idea about his future with the club preparing for a crucial run of games as his side tries to make up ground on the Championship's top six. Fulham, who have been impressed with their head coach's ability to integrate fourteen summer signings into a massively reshaped squad, are hoping to announce the news by the end of this week, according to Mirror football correspondent John Cross.

The Whites travel to Bristol City in a rearranged fixture tonight and head to Cardiff City on Saturday looking to maintain the league momentum they had built up prior to their FA Cup exit at the hands of Tottenham last weekend.

Cardiff City, Fulham and Nottingham Forest tracking Sutton United hero

Cardiff City, Nottingham Forest, Fulham, Charlton Athletic and Millwall are tracking Sutton United's Roarie Deacon over a potential move in the summer according to a report from The Sun.

The 25-year-old midfielder came through the Arsenal academy but eventually slid down the leagues after also being part of the Sunderland academy before being signed by Sutton in the Vanarama National. Many players would be forgotten after dropping out in the EFL but Deacon reminded everyone of his talent in Sutton's miraculous run to the last sixteen of the FA Cup where their run was ended by Arsenal on Monday night.

While the column inches may be getting taken up by the controversy surrounding their reserve goalkeeper Wayne Shaw after an investigation was started against him by the Gambling Commission after he ate a pie on the sideline, Deacon is now attracting attention of his own with teams from the EFL now plotting to make a move when the transfer window opens again in the summer.

Five teams are reported to be interested in signing Deacon with Cardiff, Fulham, Nottingham Forest, Charlton and Millwall, who have had their own brilliant run in the FA Cup, all scouting Deacon with a view to sign him in the summer. For the former Stevenage man, it would be an ideal chance to return to the EFL after dropping out in the summer though it may be tough for him to leave a club that gave him a chance to rebuild his career and eventually shine in front of the BBC Sport cameras.
