"Late goal well overdue" – Fulham fans react to dramatic draw with Leeds

Fulham salvaged a deserved late point against Leeds United to keep pace in the race for a top six finish.

With Sheffield Wednesday only managing a draw at home to Burton Albion, Fulham remain five points behind the Owls with a game in hand.

However, for much of yesterday's game, it looked like Fulham would come away with nothing.

An early Tim Ream own goal gave the visiting Leeds side a 1-0 lead, much to the delight of their 7,000 travelling supporters.

For the whole of the game, Leeds held on – although Fulham will feel aggrieved that Neeskens Kebano's effort was not given after the ball appeared to cross the line.

In the end, it took a late wonder goal from Fulham's star man Tom Cairney to earn Fulham what could be a crucial point come the end of the season.

Fulham boss rues 'very expensive mistake' as Whites robbed against Leeds
Kebano fired in a stunning strike off the underside of the bar, only for the officials to rule it had not crossed the line

Slaviša Jokanović described Neeskens Kebano's disallowed goal as a "very expensive mistake" as Fulham needed a last-gasp Tom Cairney strike to rescue a point at home to Leeds United on Tuesday night.

The visitors had gone in front through a comical Tim Ream own goal, before Kebano fired in a stunning strike off the underside of the bar, only for the officials to rule it had not crossed the line.

And the Cottagers looked to be falling further behind in the race for the play-offs as a result, until Cairney popped up with a superb curling effort in the 94th minute to keep their dreams alive.

Jokanovic felt his side deserved all three points.

He said: "As we conceded one and scored two I believe we deserve three points.

"We had an accidental start, we scored an own goal then we scored a legal goal but the referee didn't see this situation very well.

Slavisa Jokanovic (Photo: Surrey Advertiser)

"I cannot complain about the referee. It's a human error, you can make a mistake but it's a very expensive mistake.

"And from my position I saw how the ball was moving, I was sure it was a legal goal. We checked after at half-time and it was a big mistake but that is part of the football too.

"I don't know how to explain, I was sure the ball was past the line, and for some reason the assistant didn't watch the situation very well."

Jokanović was proud of how his players responded to the early own goal disaster though.

He added: "We played all the football, we moved from one side to the other side, we created many chances. We won only one point but I believe my team deserved three."

"I am really proud of my team, how we played football, how we fought with confidence, how we defended with the Fulham press. My team was really competitive, and we found this kind of compensation in the last moment of the game.

"It's important that we play with confidence, that we play with our style.

"In the end it's an important goal, confidence is good and we keep going and push hard to keep fighting to be in the top-six."

Vote For Cairney

Tom Cairney has been nominated for February's PFA Fans' Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month.

The winner is decided by supporters, so follow this link to vote for the Fulham man. Entries close at 7pm on Wednesday evening.

Cairney was in sparkling form in February, playing a part in six of his side's goals by netting two himself and setting up a further four for his teammates.

He's up against Brighton & Hove Albion striker Tomer Hemed, Brentford's Jota, Cameron Jerome of Norwich City, Preston North End winger Aiden McGeady, and Cardiff City's Kenneth Zohore.

The shortlist was chosen by Sky Sports pundits Paul Merson and Peter Beagrie, Mike Riley, general manager of the Professional Game Match Officials, and Malcolm Clarke, chairman of the Football Supporters' Federation.

Burton Albion international news: Lasse Vigen Christensen called up to face Spain and England

Burton Albion midfielder Lasse Vigen Christensen has been called up to represent Denmark's under-21s for two friendlies in March. Denmark will face Spain and England as they prepare for June's U21 UEFA Championships in Poland during the upcoming international break.

They will have the tough task of battling it out with Germany, Italy and Czech Republic in the group stages. The U21s are unbeaten in their last 12 matches, and most-recently drew with Italy in November.

Christensen has made eight appearances for Burton Albion this season on loan from Fulham, chipping in with three assists during his time at the Pirelli Stadium. He joined the Brewers in January at the same time as Cottagers teammate Cauley Woodrow, who was called up by England for the 2016 Toulon Tournament last May.

Bitter? Fulham's Jokanovic vented after Leeds drama

A very promising midweek round of Championship fixtures ended with some rather drab results, but Fulham hosting Leeds at least brought some drama to the table.

The Cottagers were trailing for the bulk of the tie after a Tim Ream own goal, but Tom Cairney popped up deep into injury time to level with a stunning effort from the edge of the box, handing the Londoners what may be a vital point in their hunt for a play-off spot.

Fulham, although they held home advantage, were perhaps not expected to beat the Yorkshire outfit, who are flying high just outside of the automatic promotion slots, but even though they snatched a point in dramatic fashion, their manager Slavisa Jokanovic put out a slightly bitter tweet after the match, claiming that his side were "the ones who played all the football"...

Fulham are now five points adrift of the last play-off spot, while Leeds sit nine below Brighton in second spot.

Fulham boss hails Tom Cairney as one of the Championship's top talents
Tom Cairney has been heralded as one of the league's best by manager Slavisa Jovanovic

He was Fulham's saviour on Tuesday night, scoring with almost the last kick of the game to rescue a point against fellow play-off hopefuls Leeds United.

And Tom Cairney has been heralded as one of the league's best by manager Slavisa Jokanovic.

The 26-year-old has been integral to Fulham's fine form, scoring three goals in their run of six games unbeaten.

Cairney curled home a beauty of a strike in the 94th minute to keep the Cottagers' play-off hopes alive with a point at home to the Yorkshireman.

Celebrate: Fulham players and fans celebrate their late equaliser (Photo: Darren Pepe)

Jokanovic said: "Tom Cairney is a very important player for us, he did a fantastic job and he is probably one of the best in this competition.

"Our possession is for shots and in general we are one of the teams in the Championship who shoot more times. I don't want to have possession of the ball for nothing. I believe we are a top team and this is the reason we want to play this type of game."

Fulham hero describes equaliser as best on pitch moment and hits out at classless Leeds fans
The Whites were trailing Leeds after a Tim Ream own goal in the first half and it was looking as if their play-off hopes would be fading fast

Fulham talisman Tom Cairney called his dramatic last minute equaliser and the celebrations that followed the best moment he has had on the football pitch.

The Whites were trailing Leeds after a Tim Ream own goal in the first half and it was looking as if their play-off hopes would be fading fast.

They would have been on level terms if Neeskens Kebano's shot, which cross the line, had been given.

But just when it was looking as if it was going to be one of those nights at Craven Cottage, Cairney popped up with a fine curling shot to send the Fulham fans into raptures.

And the midfielder promptly went to join the celebrations and wrote on Twitter after that it was the best moment of his career.

Making that late strike all the more sweeter for Cairney was the fact his family had been abused all game by Leeds supporters.

He added on the social media site: "Yeah they were abusing all the families in the cottage tonight they told me after... disgusting they've got no class mate! Makes it sweeter!"

Cairney has also been nominated for the PFA Player of the Month for February. To vote for the Fulham hero click here.

13 duels won; should Leeds United target Fulham's Tomas Kalas after outshining duo?

The Fulham centre-back outshone both Pontus Jansson and Kyle Bartley to help restrict Leeds United to one goal and one point.

Pontus Jansson and Kyle Bartley may have reaffirmed their status as the Championship's most fearsome defensive pairing in Tuesday's Championship draw with Fulham, despite the promotion chasers losing two points right at the death.

Header after header, clearance after clearance, the iron-headed duo defended manfully against a free-scoring side whose corner count delved into double figures on the night. And they could hardly be questioned for Tom Cairney's last-gasp worldie which kept Fulham's promotion hopes alive.

Nonetheless, the game's best defender may not have been wearing Leeds colours on Tuesday evening. And you can guess, by virtue of his horrific second half own goal, that we aren't talking about Tim Ream.

If there was any indication of how Chelsea's divisive player stockpiling has perhaps gone too far, it's that Tomas Kalas is still contracted to the Premier League leaders. He's 23 now and hasn't played for the club since impressing in the latter stages of 2013/14, playing a major role in that 2-0 win at Anfield.

However, in his fifth loan spell away from Stamford Bridge, the towering Czech centre-back is proving that he deserves a club to call his own. 43 appearances on loan at Middlesbrough last season didn't yield a permanent deal but it would be no surprise if Fulham were to try and sign him on a permanent basis from their London neighbours.

But, based on Tuesday's impressive performance, perhaps Leeds shouldn't make it so easy for them. Jansson and Bartley are undoubtedly first-choice but with Liam Cooper out of favour and often unconvincing, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that Garry Monk could target a new centre-back in the summer.

And Kalas has proven first-hand that he could be an excellent addition to a backline high on quality though lacking in depth.

Cairney's magic moment shows Fulham have found their bottle
by Dan on March 8, 2017

There was a moment earlier in the season – probably around the time when Fulham fluffed so many chances in that incredible home defeat by QPR – that the fans began to question whether the Whites had enough bottle to last the pace in the Championship. Slavisa Jokanovic had packed his new-look side with a whole host of easy-on-the eye ball players, but their failure to turn possession into victories and an absence of both experience and leadership suggested that a promotion push might be beyond them.

Tom Cairney, although clearly one of the club's most gifted footballers, has always had a couple of question marks about him. One surrounds the fact that his right foot seems to be solely for standing on – something he disarmingly admits himself – and the other is that he isn't necessarily the same player in a losing side that he is when things are going well. Jokanovic himself put it nicely after Cairney's victory in the Championship player of the year category at last week's London Football Awards:

He's improved and grown up with us and this Fulham team have grown up with him too – he helped myself and my staff to develop this style we play football with.

Cairney has clearly thrived on the leadership role he has assumed from Scott Parker over the course of the season and, although he is not the archetypal English captain full of shouted commands and waving his arms about, the classy midfielder has began to lead by example. In the last three home games, he has advanced into more forward positions of his own accord as the opposition has began to assert themselves and, last night in the dying embers of an absorbing encounter with play-off rivals Leeds, Cairney took it upon himself to change the course of the evening.

Never mind that Fulham were behind to the sort of freakish own goal that can knock the stuffing out of you or the fact that Neeskens Kebano's perfectly good goal was ruled not to have crossed the line by the officials. Forget too about the pressure that a defeat to Garry Monk's side would have ended Fulham's fine recent run and perhaps fatally shrunken their path towards the play-offs. Cairney, who had been shackled effectively by his boyhood club all evening, saved his customary goal against Leeds for the last possible moment – a sumptuous curler from distance of precisely the quality necessary to beat Rob Green after he had been inexplicably allowed to cut inside on his left foot.

That patch of grass outside the right angle of the penalty area at the Hammersmith End has delivered some memorable moments in recent years. It was from there that Chris David unleashed an unstoppable shot to ensure Fulham didn't leave the top flight defeated by Crystal Palace three years ago and Cairney's own dramatic intervention was from around the same spot that Clint Dempsey unforgettably chipped Fulham to that incredible victory over Juventus back in 2010.

The delirious celebrations were perhaps some of the most frenzied at the famous old ground since the night the Old Lady was brought so staggeringly to her knees. Cairney's delight was to be expected but to see Ryan Sessegnon and Ryan Fredericks clambering on top of the goalscorer in joyous exaltation showed just how much the rescued point meant to a Fulham side who might just be believing they can extend their season by a couple of weeks. Certainly Jokanovic has instilled a never-say-die attitude into a team that would have rolled over only eight months ago and this was typified by another tempo-altering cameo from Parker, who galvanised Fulham for one last push when he came off the bench.

The season still has plenty of chapters to be written yet. The tantalising nature of some of Fulham's fixtures, starting on Saturday at Newcastle but also including trips to Huddersfield, Derby and Norwich, means that it might still all be up for grabs when the Whites head to Hillsborough for a final day showdown with Sheffield Wednesday. Fulham are no longer a fair weather football time – they are schooled in the special Serbian art of street fighting and can't be counted out any longer.

Revealed how many Fulham fans are travelling to Newcastle

Fulham fans seemingly aren't so keen as their London rivals Brentford and others when it comes to supporting their team on Tyneside.

A little bit surprising to find out how few Fulham fans have bought tickets for Saturday's match.

Other similar or smaller sized clubs (such as their London rivals Brentford) have brought the full, or close to, 3,200 allocation to Tyneside.

However, the West London club have revealed that only 1,350 Fulham fans have so far committed and they are urging others to join them before Friday's deadline.

Fulham FC via Twitter:

"Join the 1,350 Fulham fans travelling to Newcastle by purchasing your ticket before 3pm Friday."

In contrast Newcastle United have announced on Wednesday morning that there is only 'limited availability' in the home sections, with a quick look on the club's ticketing website suggesting that there is going to be a definite sellout by Newcastle fans.

Newcastle United via Twitter:

"There's limited availability remaining for Saturday's game against Fulham."

Fulham were in the Premier League for 13 years in a row with Newcastle until the Cottagers were relegated in 2014 but you would have thought they'd bring more supporters than that.

A Saturday 3pm kick-off, train up from Kings Cross and possible night or two staying over, plus Fulham are fighting to get in the play-offs – currently five points off sixth but with a game in hand.

Good news for Newcastle supporters though, as it means more tickets will have been available for the game to enable fans to see Rafa's team hopefully take another step towards the Premier League.

Fulham Official Ticket Information for the Newcastle match:

Fulham travel to St James' Park for their first away fixture in March.

Tickets are located in the Leazes Stand level 7 – fans are advised there are 140 stairs and 14 landings up to level 7 seating.

Newcastle have asked us to sell tickets in the following order:

L7M & LL7M – Sell 1st

L7L & LL7L – Sell 2nd

L7K & LL7K – Sell 3rd

Please note there will be no matchday ticket sales in the away end. Tickets must be purchased by 3pm on Friday

Everton and Tottenham set to go head-to-head for Fulham starlet Ryan Sessegnon
Everton director of football Steve Walsh has scouted the left-back.

Everton and Tottenham are poised to battle it out for the signature of Fulham wunderkind Ryan Sessegnon. The 16-year-old left-back has been a revelation for Slavisa Jokanovic's men this season and has delivered some outstanding performances for the Championship outfit as they attempt to make the play-offs.

Everton's director of football Steve Walsh attended Fulham's 3-1 victory over Preston North End on the weekend, according to The Mirror, and watched Sessegnon put in another impressive performance at Craven Cottage.

The Everton hierarchy are keen on luring some of the best young British talent to Goodison Park this summer, but they will face competition for Sessegnon, who has recently taken his GCSEs, from Tottenham. The Daily Mail claims that Mauricio Pochettino's men are confident of beating the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal to the signing of the starlet, who was recently branded 'amazing' by his Fulham teammate Tom Cairney.

"His mentality is ridiculous. It does not make sense," Cairney said. "Earlier in the season at Leeds I thought, 'I don't know how he is handling it all!' His game understanding for his age is something I have never seen before. Fulham have got a huge prospect on their hands."

Sessegnon has not yet signed a professional contract with Fulham and will not be able to do so until he turns 17 in May. The Cottagers have told their young prodigy that he can make his own mind up about his future but would unsurprisingly like him to stay in west London and can promise him regular first-team football, something that may not be on offer at Everton or Tottenham.

Sessegnon does not turn 17 until May.Getty Images

In Danny Rose, Tottenham have arguably the best left-back in the Premier League, while Ben Davies is a more than able deputy in reserve and is close to signing a new deal at White Hart Lane.

Everton have the excellent Leighton Baines currently occupying Sessegnon's position, but the 32-year-old has little competition for his place on Merseyside and could hypothetically act as a mentor for the coveted teenager, who has made 21 appearances for Fulham this season.

Fulham boss heaps praise on Tom Cairney after Leeds heroics and reveals Newcastle plan

FULHAM boss Slavisa Jokanovic believes Tom Cairney is one of the Championship's best players.

Slavisa Jokanovic believes Tom Cairney is one of the Championship's best players

Cairney, who skippers the side when Scott Parker is not playing, has impressed with eight goals and 11 assists this term.

The 25-year-old was named the EFL Player of the Year at the London Football Awards last week.

And he enhanced his glowing reputation with a stunning last-gasp equaliser against Leeds, which had Jokanovic purring.

"Tom Cairney is very important player for us," Jokanovic said. "He's made a fantastic jump.

"He's probably one of the best in the competition."

Fulham travel to league leaders Newcastle on Saturday, looking to continue an unbeaten run which has seen them shoot up to seventh in the table and vying for the play-offs.

Jokanovic, who masterminded a win against the Magpies on the opening day last August, believes he has Rafa Benitez's side sussed out.

"We are confident for everything," he said.

Fulham beat Newcastle 1-0 on the opening day of the season

"We are going to try and find our style. We are going to try and dominate Newcastle.

"They are a physical, very strong team. They are going to look and put the ball behind us and around the space behind our centre-backs.

"We are going to try and move the ball and create our chances.

"I don't expect so many surprises in this game."

Match Preview – Newcastle United vs Fulham FC

On Saturday, Newcastle face Fulham in the league. Fulham are currently sitting in seventh place, five points adrift of sixth. United will be hopeful to come out victorious if they wish to extend their lead at the top and get one step closer to wrapping up the league title.

The last time both teams met was on the opening day of the season. The result came as a shock to most United fans. The game was built up greatly and many expected a win for the Magpies to start off their Championship glory.

It's fair to say that United underestimated the Cottagers massively and were bossed from the first whistle to the last. We were well and truly embarrassed. Rafa's men lost 1-0 on the night, and it was a harsh wake-up call for The Magpies.

Fulham's form has gone under the radar recently. They're on a six-game unbeaten run, winning four and drawing two.

Their last loss in the league came against Birmingham early in February. Fulham were unlucky to lose as their defender, Fredericks, got sent off early in the second half. The Blues took advantage and stole a goal from a tight game. A fair result would have been a draw.

Jokanovic's side have put in some fantastic performances which have proven their doubters very wrong.

Fulham's last performance was an exemplary one, when they came back to earn an impressive draw against fourth-placed Leeds. Fulham's key player, Tom Cairney, picked out the top corner with an upper echelon strike from outside the box which left the Leeds United goalkeeper stunned.

This goal came in the 95th minute of the game which denied Leeds the victory which would have meant they could have tightened the gap from third place Huddersfield Town. Instead, Fulham maintained a five-point gap to a play-off place as Sheffield Wednesday drew 1-1 to relegation fighters Burton.

I can certainly see United struggling come Saturday afternoon. It can't be ignored that Newcastle's away form is far more superior to their form on Tyneside.

In the past few games, we have seen United defend and not have a lot of the ball. We have been playing on the counter attack and that has seemed to be working as we have gained seven points out of a possible nine points from fellow promotion rivals.

Fulham are a balanced side who have lots of players that could offer a threat to a potentially fatigued side in Newcastle United. Last time out, Sonny Aluko was in fine form as he put a good strike past Matz Sels.

Another player who looked to be a threat was the match-winner of their previous game, Tom Cairney. He is their top goalscorer in the 2016/2017 campaign, netting eight goals this season. Cairney is arguably the fan favourite at Fulham and he will certainly be a difficult player to deal with on Saturday.

I sincerely hope that Newcastle take Fulham seriously and do not assume they've won the league already. Brighton closed the gap on Tuesday night and are still in with a chance of finishing top of the table at the end of the season.

So what do I think will happen on Saturday?

My prediction for Saturday's game is that it is going to be a tight one. Both teams will look to win on the counter-attack. Fulham will be happy to come away from this game with a point, and a draw would be a disappointing two points lost from a United perspective.

Taking my black and white tinted glasses off, I predict a 1-1 draw. Fulham will look to score first so they can sit and defend to protect their lead, however, I think United will score in this match up purely down their sheer quality up top.

Top 5 moments where American footballers have set the Premier League alive

With the Premier League increasingly becoming a global brand, it's little surprise to see a growing number of American players make waves in the division after crossing the pond to play in it. Rather excitingly indeed, with football on the rise stateside, we're likely to see more of a crossover of USMT stars landing on these shores.

Indeed, any one who does will find himself in some rather esteemed company. American stars have a strong presence throughout Premier League history. Since John Harkes became the first American player to play in the division with Sheffield Wednesday back in the early 90s, there have been a number of top class players to follow suit.

Visit Britain are looking to find the biggest Super Football Fan in the world, people to watch the USMNT stars strut the stuff in the Premier League over the years. While you weigh up whether or not you think you have what it takes, here's a closer look at some of the stars we've been talking about.

Clint Dempsey vs Sunderland

One of the most prolific American players to have starred in the Premier League, former Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Clint Dempsey will be fondly remembered for his time in both west and north London.

Able to operate either in midfield or attack, the Seattle Sounders man scored 57 goals during his time here, including this fine effort against Sunderland.

Joe Max-Moore lights up Liverpool

Back in the late 1990s, Everton took New England Revolution forward Joe Max-Moore to England on a trail and he impressed so much, the Toffees made his move across the Atlantic a permanent affair.

While injury may have hampered his time on these shores, no one will be in any rush to forget the fact he managed to score FIVE goals in his first FIVE appearances for the Goodison Park club. Few will have had better starts to life in the Premier League.

Brian McBride – a London legend

Though there have been more prolific strikers in the Premier League, former Everton and Fulham striker Brian McBride is one of the most loved cult-heroes who've made a move across the pond. This goal against Manchester United is a career highlight, though his time at Craven Cottage is still talked about to this day.

His hard-working approach to the centre-forward role has seen Fulham name a bar after him outside the ground, while he was also asked to chime in on a managerial appointment for the club back in 2014.

Carlos Bocanegra breaks Blues hearts

Continuing in the Fulham trend, defender Carlos Bocanegra had spells with the Cottagers, as well north of the border with Rangers, and proved a popular figure with those in west London. Perhaps his best moment came against bitter rivals Chelsea, where his last minute equaliser ensured their noisier neighbours didn't take home all the bragging rights.

Tim Howard defies physics

The Premier League is littered with great 'keepers, with Kasey Keller and Brad Friedel joining Tim Howard as legendary figures between the sticks. Former Everton and Manchester United stopper Howard gave around 10 years of service to the Premier League, with few better saves than this one over his decade here.

So think you have what it takes to be their Super Fan? Click on the link below to find the details.

Newcastle United, Fulham cannot be separated in attacking stat

Newcastle United are leading the way at the top of the Championship with a three-point advantage.

They are also topping the attacking tables having scored the most goals (69) in the division so far, with Dwight Gayle top-scoring with 21 so far.

The statistics are not that surprising given where Rafael Benitez's team are positioned in the standings, but one aspect of their game has been completely matched by a team vying for the playoffs.

As the tweet from Championship Stats show, the Cottagers have created just as many shots from outside the box than Newcastle.

Both have mustered 226 this season – the most out of any other team in the division – but there is a stark contrast to where the clubs are in the table.

As mentioned, the Magpies sit at the top, while Fulham are in seventh position, a whopping 20 points adrift of the leaders.

The London outfit are fighting for a chance to return to the Premier League via the playoffs, but they have to close down a five-point gap in order to contest.

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic nominated for Championship Manager of the Month award
The Fulham boss will go up against Rafa Benitez, Simon Grayson and David Wagner for the February accolade

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic has been nominated for the Championship Manager of the Month Award for Febraury.

He will go up against Rafa Benitez of Newcastle, Simon Grayson of Preston and Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner for the gong - the winner of which will be announced tomorrow (Friday).

Jokanovic has been nominated for the award after his side took 13 points from six games to rise to seventh in the table, scoring twice in all but one of their February fixtures.

In that run they beat Burton Albion, Wigan, Nottingham Forest and Bristol City, as well as gaining a point from their trip to South Wales where they drew 2-2 with Cardiff.

It was a fine month for Jokanovic and Fulham will be hoping to build on their momentum as they plough through a defining month in March.

Jokanović Nominated

Slaviša Jokanović has been nominated for February's Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month award.

Fulham won four of their six league games last month, whilst also claiming a draw at in-form Cardiff City, to give them 13 points and move up to seventh in the standings.

We won two matches at home and two away, with 2-0 successes at both Burton Albion and Bristol City coming either side of consecutive 3-2 home victories against Wigan Athletic and Nottingham Forest.

It is the second time this season that Jokanović has been nominated, as his achievements were also recognised after he led the Whites to an unbeaten December.

He's up against Rafael Benitez, manager of Saturday's opponents Newcastle United, Preston North End's Simon Grayson, and David Wagner of Huddersfield Town.

The judging panel comprises former Ipswich Town manager George Burley, Sky Sports' EFL League expert Don Goodman, EFL Marketing Director Drew Barrand, League Managers' Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.

The winner will be announced on Friday morning.

Jokanovic nominated for manager of the month

Slavisa Jokanovic has been nominated for the Championship manager of the month award after Fulham's fine February breathed new life into their promotion push.

The Serbian head coach oversaw four league wins from six games during the calendar month to lift Fulham to just outside the play-off places and also signed a new contract to keep him at Craven Cottage until 2017. Jokanovic's side recorded impressive away wins at Burton and Bristol City, whilst edging entertaining home encounters against Wigan Athletic and Nottingham Forest. It is Jokanovic's second nomination for the SkyBet Championship award, after he was also put for December's honour.

The Fulham boss is up against Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez, Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner and Preston's Simon Grayson. The judging panel is made up of former Ipswich manager George Burley, the Sky Sports' pundit Don Goodman, the LMA's manager director Olaf Dixon, marketing director Drew Barrand from the EFL and Sky Bet's football trading manager Paul Lowery. The winner will be announced tomorrow morning.
