L'Equipe reports that Fulham are likely to sign Mamadou Thiam, 22, from Dijon. The striker spent last season on loan at Clermont Foot, bagging 9 goals and 4 assists in 38 appearances in Ligue 2 and the two cups.

Sounds like a decent low-risk backup striker, a tricky and pretty powerful player.

For a Ligue 2 striker those stats are a bit underwhelming

2 goals and 1 assists worse than Mounié did in the same league the season before.
Fair enough I suppose. Strange then that we want to sign him given our stats system
Not sure its just based on goals and assists, probably includes, short, medium and long range passing stats as well as pass completion rations, drubbling success, crossing success and a shots on target ratio at least. Thats what I am guessing at anyway

Looks a bit like Sone in speed and skill dribbling. Could be good cover should Sone's quote's of wanting to play with a PL team come true. Shot accuracy any better?

The bloke who tweeted it (Rhodri Cannon) is a reporter for IB Times. Not sure why he'd be the one to break this story, but also not sure why he would risk his own journalistic reputation on this one if he wasn't sure.

Great question. No idea. Hopefully more information about the whole thing comes to light soon, either from him, from other journos, or better yet, the club itself.

I like to think that Sone was talking as much about getting promoted as he was just playing on a team that is in the PL. Personally, I don't want a player who isn't frank about wanting to play in the PL. And if any player is asked about his own transfer possibilities, is there really a better answer than the one he gave - something along the lines of "we'll see" or "who knows what will happen?". The club could be looking to sell him for the right price just as easily as he could be looking for a move. As people like to say these days, there's little or no loyalty in football.

Not saying you are being critical of Aluko. Just more of a thought that I had when folks began discussing his quotes as a sign that he wants to leave us.

He's seemed very happy with us. Likely just not happy that we're in the Championship which is entirely understandable.

Good analysis - I think a lot was lost in the not-so-direct translation of Sone's interview. He's a tricky footballer who we're lucky to have gotten on a free.

Just as an off thought -iIf I'm Slav, I'm running off balance shooting drills with Sone 8 hours a day until the season starts. If he can improve his shooting percentage by 2 - 3%, the bags of goals that we already scored would become ridiculous, especially if we manage to sign a Striker upgrade.

Swedish newspaper Expressen claims that Fulham are interested in Omar Eddhari, a midfielder for Swedish allsvenskan outfit AFC Eskilstuna. The club chairman can confirm that there are a couple of clubs scouting the player and that one of them is a club in the English Championship.

According to Expressen, Fulham will have scouts watching the upcoming match on saturday between Malmö and AFC.

As a follower of the Swedish premier divison Allsvenskan and supported Fulham for over 17 years- ive never understod why we've signed the Swedish players that we have. Really random and this is no different. This guy is not Championship material.

Says he's an attacker here....

http://sportwitness.co.uk/director-quizzed-fulhams-interest-forward-claims-championship-side-send-official-saturday/

Director quizzed on Fulham's interest in attacker, claims Championship side to send official on Saturday

AFC Eskilstuna sporting director Azad Budak has confirmed to the Swedish media clubs in England have been taking an interest in Omar Eddahri. The attacker has been linked with a move to Fulham in recent weeks.

Speaking to Expressen, Budak was quizzed directly about the interest from Fulham, and also Turkish side Eskisehirspor.

"What I can say is that there is interest from both Turkey and England. As well as a club in the Premier League," said the AFC director.

Budak will be out of contract at the end of the Swedish season, and he'll be able to speak to other clubs in the coming days about a pre-contract agreement. The player's contract with AFC expires at the end of December after three seasons with the club.

Expressen say Fulham have been showing an interest in the Swede as their search for a forward continues. It's been claimed a scout from the Championship side will watch him play on Saturday when AFC play Malmo. Eddahri can also play in the wide attacking areas.

It's been reported Fulham could face competition from Swedish clubs to sign the 26-year-old.

Another one to add to the never ending list.

Do we actually have a scouting system,or do we wait for all these clubs nobody has ever heard off sending out fliers about some 3rd rater they are trying to flog, and then putting a vid on him on you tube of the 6 goals they've scored in their lives...lol

Not saying that Fulham doesn't hold a place in his heart but, I still often wondered if he was going to get into to coaching would he have more special feelings for Hammers or Spurs over us. Wouldn't fault him for it.
