Watching Salcido play for Mexico right now

Playing for the national team against Columbia!

He hasn't seen much action yet because Columbia hasn't seen much of that third of the pitch. Chicharito is playing too, as far as I can tell. It's in Spanish, so the commentator could have just been calling somebody else "pork rind", and I could be misinterpreting...  :59:

Make sure in the parking lot of life, you do not take it's handicapped spot because then you'll be occupying time's space, the ticket for which is being thrown into a wormhole.

28th minute: Crucial tackle made by Salcido to prevent breakaway
34th minute: Salcido pushes forward and hooks inward toward goal as he takes a back-heel pass. Has good dribbling skills, but chance is bad, having 3 defenders to beat.

Mexico is playing Man-to-Man defense (as opposed to zone defense). I have seen zero offsides calls yet, so I don't know if they are much for the offsides trap. They seem to just try to shut down whoever has the ball and make sure to not leave anybody open.

Finally had the first offside infraction of the game in the 64th minute.

The first goal had to wait until the 89th.    1-0 to Mexico

A calm and collected performance by Salcido. He is scrappy for the ball when in the offensive third, but when he is on defense he doesn't concede fouls and makes crucial tackles when they are needed.

I hope he starts this Saturday. He is a player who reminds me of our two honorable center backs.

Thanks for the analysis.

Am I right in thinking that
Salcido > Konch defending,
but about the same/hard to tell going forwards?

That's a fairly accurate interpretation of the consensus. Mind you, it's going to take watching him for a month or so to see if he's better than Konch.
