Huddersfield offer enough to please player, despite reports of Fulham bid, likely to win

On Tuesday English based reports stated that Fulham had waded into Steve Mounie's likely Montpellier exit, and made an offer which would rival Huddersfield Town interest.

However, L'Equipe have a different slant in their Wednesday newspaper, explaining that what Huddersfield are offering is enough to please Mounie, and he's turned Watford down to sign for the Premier League newcomers.

Fulham are mentioned, but only because L'Equipe say the club made a €6m offer for the player last summer, which Montpellier rejected. The French newspaper mention no new offer from Fulham.

Huddersfield are said to be close to winning the race for Mounie, having offered €12m, and then €13m for the player.

The deal isn't done, but Huddersfield's offer is described as being more pleasing than what Watford have put forward for Mounie. There's still time for Fulham to come and ruin everything, but Huddersfield's Premier League status could swing things in their favour.

Steve Mounie is a 22 year old striker, he scored 14 goals and added 3 assists for Montpellier in Ligue 1 last season.

Fulham fixtures 2017-18: Every Championship match as full schedule is released

Fulham's 2017-18 Championship fixtures are out, with Slavisa Jokanovic's side looking to build on their strong finish to the campaign.

The Cottagers were defeated at Reading in the semi-finals of the Play-Offs, after nine wins from their final 15 matches.

And Jokanovic's men face a return visit to the Madejski Stadium early in the new season, when they will look to avenge their play-off heart-ache.  The Cottagers travel to Reading on August 12, a week after hosting Norwich on the opening day.

They will face Wycombe Wanderers in the EFL Cup on August 8.

Fulham started with three wins across all competitions last season, and a repeat would point to an impressive campaign with promotion rivals up first.

Fulham just €500k away from transfer agreement, looks to be close

Jozabed looks like he's close to leaving Fulham on a permanent basis. Signing from Rayo Vallecano in August of last year, Jozabed was unable to impress to the level which had encouraged Fulham to sign him in the first place.

Despite originally signing a three year contract with Fulham, it was no surprise when Jozabed left during the winter transfer window, returning to Spain on loan with Celta Vigo.

The 26 year old has managed to impress Celta Vigo enough to make them seriously want to sign him. An offer of €3.5m has been made by the Galician side, report Marca, and that's just €500k from Fulham's €4m asking price.

The Spanish newspaper say Fulham are asking for €4m because that's what Rayo Vallecano received for Jozabed last summer, although the transfer fee undisclosed at the time. Should Fulham manage to get the full €4m back then it looks to be a good deal.

Even €3.5m doesn't sound too bad.

Fulham star Ryan Sessegnon is tailor-made for Tottenham and Spurs are perfect for him

As the transfer window kicks into gear, and teams decide to spend big to improve their respective squads, Tottenham are sitting back and waiting for their chance to strike. The north London side have a stadium to fund, which means they are unable to freely spend upwards of £30m to improve the team, but if head coach Mauricio Pochettino manages to keep the core of his squad together, then there is little need to splash the cash this summer. The Argentine has assembled one of the Premier League's best squads and they will only develop in time.

Indeed, if they can trim the fat and make some astute captures, then there is no reason why Spurs need to delve deep into the market. Of course, that isn't to say Spurs' squad is perfect. A second placed finish allows room for improvement and you can be sure that Pochettino has identified targets to bolster his options in every position in the squad. One of those areas is seemingly at left-back, even with Danny Rose and Ben Davies both available to the 45-year-old.

With a greater onus on developing young talent, teenager Sessegnon is one of the finest in his age bracket in the country and the sky is seemingly the limit for the defender. It wasn't too long ago that Liverpool were leading the race to sign the Fulham sensation, yet after the Reds dropped out of the running to secure his services, Spurs looked to have to stolen a march to sign the 17-year-old. Pochettino has targeted Sessegnon on the back of his good form in the Championship last season, where the left-back netted five goals and registered a further three assists. His attacking input is perhaps the reason why Pochettino is fond of the youngster.

Spurs' head honcho deployed a three-man defence more readily where possible last season, however injury to Rose in January impacted his decision to use the system frequently. Davies may be a solid left-back, but his lack of attacking influence has been the subject of ire from the Spurs support when he plays a more advanced role. That isn't to say there isn't a place in the current setup for Davies, but that it'll be in a less familiar centre-back role. The former Swansea man plays this position for Wales and could certainly transition into the role for club as he does seamlessly for country.

This would free up another position for a marauding full-back and it's why Sessegnon would make for such an astute capture for Spurs. With the club funding their new stadium, Pochettino knows he must spend wisely, with the club needing to identify the best young talents for the Spurs boss to mould and develop into Premier League quality players. He's done so impressively with Dele Alli, while Harry Kane and Harry Winks have come on leaps and bounds on the back of their respective promotions to the first team under Pochettino.

Sessegnon is another who would undoubtedly improve under the watchful eye of Pochettino, with his fine attacking form for Fulham highlighting just why interest in his signature is so high. Averages of 0.8 key passes and 1.1 successful dribbles per 90 were both modest returns for the left-back last season and provide a solid foundation to build upon, while 2.2 tackles per 90 was also respectable, with the teenager not shirking his defensive responsibilities and showing the ideal levels of athleticism to both stretch opponents and deny attackers.

Considering the high intensity approach Pochettino demands of his players, his tireless work both on and off the ball certainly makes him an appealing proposition for the Spurs head coach and a stronger understudy for Rose where required. Rose and Walker were key players for Pochettino last season as they both yo-yo'd up and down their respective flanks to help stretch opponents and provide another dimension to the north London side's attack. Sessegnon's style of play, therefore, would undeniably help him transition between the two teams.

At his age, there are rough edges to his game that would need ironing out, but that is to be expected for any young player. His final delivery still needs to improve and with the importance of full-backs at Spurs, it's this area that perhaps requires the most work. Sessegnon made just 0.4 accurate crosses per 90 in the Championship return and while not a wholly poor return, when compared to an average of 4.4 inaccurate crosses per 90, it's clear to see exactly where he needs to develop.

Given his track record with young players, though, Pochettino and Spurs would be the perfect place to continue to improve, both from a footballing perspective and physically, with it clear that Sessegnon has some growing up still to do. Nevertheless, if Fulham are forced into selling, the north London side would be the most viable option for Sessegnon, while Spurs would benefit from signing a left-back that would be a more like-for-like stand in than Davies for Rose with a view to replacing the England international in the long run.

Oh for the joys of the Cottage! Not to mention two midweek trips to the North East. It's not OK computer

I struggle to generate too much personal excitement over the releasing of the fixtures. It's probably an age thing and I was most definitely not "buzzing" over the prospect.

The order in which we play our 46 games could become important as the season unfolds but as things stand it's largely relevant. For me today is 'when do we play that lot day'. And the answer is away on October 21, and at home on February 17,

The EFL's computer has however played a trick or two, not least its decision to send us to Craven Cottage on opening day; the scene of much carnage in the recent and not too recent past. Twitter (via the stat provider that is @OptaJoe) immediately informed us: 'Fulham have won six of their last seven home league games against Norwich City, keeping clean sheets on five occasions. Routine.'

Great eh. Although I'm positive this will (literally) mean 'Jack' to Daniel Farke and his team, and imagine the fillip for the whole club if the hoodoo of Craven Cottage can be smashed to smithereens. But Fulham are a good side, regardless of any stats, and as Championship openers go they don't get much tougher.

The computer's second 'trick' – well, more of a shafting in truth – is to send us up to both Sunderland and Middlesbrough in midweek. So much for the EFL doing its best to avoid massively long trips for away fans in midweek. Oddly, perhaps not oddly, the reverse fixtures are both on Saturdays.

On paper, August is a tough month with Fulham at the Cottage being followed by home games against Sunderland and QPR, and then two consecutive away games at Villa and Millwall. If Team Farke were hoping to be broken in gently into the maelstrom that is the Championship, they will be disappointed, although my suspicion is they'll be ready.

'Sink or swim' is how I've seen our first six fixtures described, but I'm not too sure. Hopefully there will be an acceptance among the faithful that something long-term and sustainable is being built here – or at least that's the intention – and when re-building a team with several new faces there will likely be a bedding in period.

As David Wagner's Huddersfield seems to be the parallel by which all things Webber and Farke are judged, it's worthy of note that he lost five of his first seven games, albeit he admittedly arrived mid-season.

But the point remains... we, as fans, need to give this a chance to work and not kick off at the first sign of the brown stuff.

Other than the computer's decision to send us to the north-east twice in midweek and send us to Craven Cottage on August 5, it's also deemed away trips appropriate for us on Boxing Day and the last day of the season – at Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday respectively.

But it is what it is and to bemoan the order of our 46 games (as I've just done) before a ball has been even kicked is a tad futile.

With the pre-season fitness testing just a mere five days away, the fixtures now there in black and white and the leaking of the new kit (possibly) it is now all starting to feel a bit more real.

And for that reason I really am "buzzing".

Fulham submit bid for Bordeaux striker Diego Rolan - exclusive

The club have made a bid for a third striker as the look to bolster their forward options ahead of next season

Fulham have made their third bid of the summer with an offer for Bordeaux striker Diego Rolan.

The 24-year-old Uruguayan joined Bordeaux from Defensor Sporting in 2013 having made a name for himself in the 2013 South American Youth Championships.

He made 31 appearances for the French side in Ligue 1 last season, scoring ten goals as they finished sixth and qualified for the Europa League third qualifying round, while also scoring four goals for his country.

Rolan fits the mould of what Fulham are looking for in their strikers this season, with the club also making a bid for Steve Mounie and Rui Fonte as they look to add to their striking options.

The striker has been previously linked with Manchester United and Everton, the latter of whom attempted to sign him last season.

Fulham launch bids for a trio of European strikers to solve problem position

According to Get West London, Fulham have launched bids for three separate strikers over the last couple of days as they try to rush through a deal to solve their crisis position.

Fulham lacked a top goal scoring striker last year despite reaching the Championship play-offs.

Their main striker choice was Chris Martin, who was on loan from Derby County and does not seem keen to return.

Slavisa Jokanovic is actively looking for a striker to solve his problems up front and has now lodged bids for three strikers across Europe.

Firstly, Fulham launched a bid for prolific Montpellier forward Steve Mountie.

The 22-year-old scored 15 goals in Ligue 1 last season and has been linked with a Premier League move.

However, Fulham are keen to nip in ahead of their rivals by testing the water with an early bid for the target man.

Fulham also submitted a bid for Braga striker Rui Fonte.

The 27-year-old scored 11 goals in the Portuguese top flight this season and is highly rated.

Fonte is the brother of West Ham star Jose Fonte and he previously played for Arsenal and Crystal Palace so he could be tempted by a return to London.

Fulham's third bid is for Bordeaux attacker Diego Rolan.

The 24-year-old scored ten goals in Ligue 1 last season but could leave Bordeaux.

The Uruguayan international has French top flight experience as well as international caps and European games under his belt.

Huddersfield Close To Beating Fulham and West Brom To Striker

Huddersfield Town are close to reaching an agreement with Montpellier for the signature of West Brom and Fulham target Steve Mounie.

The Montpellier hitman's future has been a topic of much conjecture over the last few weeks, with a number of English clubs interested in snapping him up during the summer.

The Ligue 1 outfit rejected an offer from Fulham last summer and the English Championship side are again interested in the striker, but it seems he is on his way to the Premier League.

West Brom have been on his trail for a while along with Watford, but Premier League new boys Huddersfield are the ones who have been doing all the legwork to sign Mounie.

Montpellier rejected an initial offer from the Yorkshire club but it seems a breakthrough is on the cards as according to L'Equipe, the two clubs are close to agreeing a fee.

It has been claimed that Huddersfield are close to securing the 22-year-old's signature for a fee of around €12m to €13m from Montpellier in the coming days.

David Wagner's side have already agreed personal terms with Mounie and it is understood the player is more excited about the offer from Huddersfield than other English clubs.

Huddersfield bid to smash transfer record with £11.5m move for Montpellier striker Steve Mounie

Huddersfield have made an £11.5m move for Montpellier striker Steve Mounie
The club's previous record fee is the £1.8m they paid for Christopher Schindler
The Terriers have also made a £8m bid for former loanee Aaron Mooy

Huddersfield have made an £11.5million move for Montpellier striker Steve Mounie.

Fulham made an offer for the 22-year-old last week but newly-promoted Huddersfield hope they can persuade the Benin international to move to the John Smith's Stadium with a record bid.

Town's current transfer record was set by the capture of Christopher Schindler last summer. The German defender joined the Terriers for £1.8million last season.

Huddersfield have made an £11.5million move for Montpellier striker Steve Mounie, 22

Mounie is on the shortlist of several clubs with West Bromwich Albion, Leicester City and West Ham also watching him this year.

Huddersfield have bid £8million for Manchester City's Aaron Mooy, are negotiating with Chelsea for the transfer of Izzy Brown, potentially on an initial loan, and have made enquiries about bringing Oliver Burke back to England from Red Bull Leipzig.

Mounie, a pacy 6ft 3in centre forward, scored 15 goals in a breakthrough campaign for Montpellier last season as Michel Der Zakarian's side avoided relegation.

The striker's rise to prominence has been rapid. Mounie spent the previous season on loan at Nimes in Ligue 2, where he bagged 11 goals.

Mounie has two years left on his Stade de la Mosson deal.

Huddersfield have announced they will play two pre-season friendly while based in Austria ahead if their inaugural Premier League season.

David Wagner's side will face Bundesliga II champions VfB Stuttgart and Italian Serie A side Torino FC as part of a training camp in Austria between July 29 and August 5.

Who is Fulham target Diego Rolan? All you need to know about the Bordeaux striker

The club have made a bid for the Uruguay international, here is everything you need to know about the Fulham target

Fulham have made a bid for Diego Rolan of Bordeaux, but just who is he?

The 24-year-old striker has been linked with some big names in the past, with Manchester United having a look at him, while Everton reportedly made a bid for him last summer.

He's the third striker that the club have bid for, with Montpellier's Steve Mounie and Braga's Rui Fonte both being targeted by the Craven Cottage outfit.

But just who is Rolan?

Don't worry if you're not sure who he is, we've got all you need to know about him right here.

Name: Diego Rolan

Age: 24

Clubs: Defensor Sporting, Bordeaux

How many goals has he scored? He has bagged 33 goals for Bordeaux, while notching a further four for Uruguay.

Rolan is a Uruguay international

What history does he have? Everton were interested in the 24-year-old last summer, but Bordeaux tried holding out for more money than the Toffees were prepared to offer.

Manchester United scouted him too, while Bayen Munich, Norwich and Brighton were also watching while he was with Bordeaux.

What's the likeliness of him signing? Fulham are hopeful of securing his signature, and are the only club to have made a bid so far.

With Mounie looking more and more unlikely, this will be one of their highest priorities.

What is our reporter's verdict? This would be a fantastic signing - he's young, athletic and can score goals, which is what Fulham desperately need.

Rolan, if he adapts to English football quickly, could well be the 15-20 goal a season striker any Championship winning side needs.

Finger's crossed.

Ranked! The 10 best managers in the Football League

As FFT celebrates the best managers in the game for 2017, Mike Holden ranks the top 10 gaffers across the Championship, League One and League Two

10. Jaap Stam (Reading)
Reading didn't win too many admirers for their slow-tempo, possession-based approach last term, and there were no shortage of doubters queueing up to discredit their third-place finish on the grounds of expected achievements.

The Royals actually had the third-worst shot ratio in the division, while 40% of their 68 goals came from set-pieces. Yet Stam's ability to frustrate more talented opponents and land on the right side of fine margins was ably demonstrated in the two-legged play-off semi-final win over Fulham. Only time will tell if it's a sustainable strategy, but the Dutchman merits a place in the top 10 on the evidence to hand.

9. Uwe Rosler (Fleetwood)
An 18-match unbeaten run propelled unfancied Fleetwood into the League One promotion reckoning last season, despite the fact Rosler wasn't appointed until a week before the campaign began. In the end, their automatic hopes were dashed on the final day, leaving the emotional well dry in the play-off semi-finals against Bradford, but the German displayed incredible tenacity to keep such a young team in the hunt for so long.

A reputation left bruised by difficult spells in charge at Wigan and Leeds is now back in credit. When a dressing room is receptive, he clearly has the talent to achieve great things.

8. Keith Hill (Rochdale)
On the back of a second successive season spent almost exclusively in the top half of League One, it's easy to forget that Rochdale had never accomplished the feat in 40 years before Hill's arrival.

The Lancashire minnows have never quite managed to sustain a genuine promotion push as yet, succumbing to the metaphorical nosebleed whenever they do break into the top six, but the foundations are rock solid. A new five-year contract for Hill comes with expectation more than hope that Championship football will come to Spotland at some point in the duration.

7. Darrell Clarke (Bristol Rovers)
The shock sale of star striker Matty Taylor to arch-rivals Bristol City in January would have derailed most teams in their first season at a new level, but it served only to bring out the best in Clarke. The Rovers boss was defiant in the aftermath, preaching collective responsibility as the focus shifted on to the defence and results improved as important goals began to arrive from midfield.

It wasn't quite enough to land a play-off berth in the end, but a third promotion in four years will be a realistic target if the Gasheads can lay their hands on another 20-goal marksman.

6. Chris Wilder (Sheffield United)
The Sheffield United boss is living proof that there's still a place in the English game for old-school impact management. Last August, following a defeat at Millwall, Wilder stopped the team coach at an off licence and treated his players to a few beers for the journey home - a gesture even more unusual for the fact they were bottom of the league at the time.

The Blades finished the season as runaway champions, of course, meaning Wilder has now accumulated 199 points over the past two campaigns, emphatically shedding the 'nearly man' and 'choker' tags he was branded with during his Oxford days.

5. Steve Bruce (Aston Villa)
A record-breaking four promotions from the Championship stand Bruce in good stead for the biggest job of his managerial career to date, although it should be pointed out that two of those triumphs arrived on the back of his own relegations when he was granted forgiveness and the luxury of time to rebuild.

The first nine months at Villa Park have been precisely that: a rebuilding job. Last season was a battle against a losing culture more than anything, but it also included some canny recruitment in January and there's ample reason to believe the tide will turn next term.

4. Harry Redknapp (Birmingham)
He might be a dying breed in the age of marginal gains and tactical philosophy, but there's still a high premium for a manager like Redknapp; someone with all the necessary contacts and people skills to instantly turn an unfashionable club into genuine promotion contenders - so long as you have the dough.

The job he's being asked to do at Birmingham is similar to what he achieved with Portsmouth over a decade ago, and slightly more appealing than the cultural mess he inherited at QPR, which also resulted in promotion via the play-offs. A top-six finish is the least we should expect from the Blues this term.

3. Gary Rowett (Derby)
Arguably the most respected opposition manager in the EFL, the majority of neutral observers were left aghast when Birmingham's new owners, Trillion Trophy Asia, decided to axe Rowett last December following two years of undisputed overachievement.

The 43-year-old has yet to taste promotion in five years as a manager - indeed, he describes his career to date as only "semi-successful" - but he laid the foundations for Burton to climb two divisions in successive seasons. On top of that, no amount of money invested at St Andrew's since his departure can airbrush the restrictions under which he was operating before the takeover.

2. Garry Monk (Middlesbrough)
The bar was set extremely high in the race for the Championship play-offs last season, and though Leeds ultimately came up short, it was nonetheless a remarkable achievement to amass 75 points with a club that carries such a heavy weight of expectation on bottom-half resources.

Now at Middlesbrough, Monk starts from a stronger base and can bank on greater support in the transfer market. His ability to break a team down by its component parts, make each more effective, and then put it back together should ensure that Boro waste no time dwelling on the disappointment of relegation.

1. Slavisa Jokanovic (Fulham)

Fulham are most people's idea of the best team in the Championship since the turn of 2017, executing a scintillating brand of possession football that belongs at the highest level. It's a complete shift from the more functional approach that Jokanovic deployed to take Watford up in 2015, but it only serves to demonstrate his adaptability.

The Serbian is an old romantic at heart, professing an undying love for Brian Clough and traditional English football stadia, and the Cottagers will take some stopping if they carry on this season where they left off last.

Fulham still in discussions with Chelsea over permanent Tomas Kalas deal

The west London club want to sign the 24-year-old permanently, but will have to move quickly after Hull had a bid accepted

Fulham are still in discussions with Chelsea over a price for Tomas Kalas, but will have to move fast after Hull had a bid accepted for the Czech international.

The club still hope they will be able to secure a move for Kalas, although Hull are in pole position at the moment, with Leonid Slutsky's ties with Roman Abramovic helping push through a deal for the Championship new boys.

However, GetWestLondon understands that Fulham remain hopeful they will sign the 24-year-old, with his preferred destination still being Craven Cottage.

Hull have agreed a bigger fee than what Fulham can offer, but the west London club hope that Kalas will tell Hull and Chelsea that he wants to sign for them, as opposed to Hull.

Slavisa Jokanovic is a huge admirer of the centre back and wants to make him a permanent Fulham player, while Kalas himself described staying at Fulham as "the perfect scenario" towards the end of last season.

Meanwhile, Fulham have made bids for Steve Mounie , Rui Fonte and Diego Rolan .

Fixtures In Focus

The Sky Bet Championship fixtures have been confirmed for the 2017/18 season and Fulham will start their campaign by welcoming Norwich City to Craven Cottage.

The last time Fulham faced Norwich on the opening day was in 2012 in the Premier League when the Whites ran out 5-0 winners at the Cottage.

Daniel Farke has taken the reigns at Carrow Road since the end of last season and the German will be hopeful of a better performance from his side on Saturday 5th August.

Fulham then have a Carabao Cup game with Wycombe Wanderers midweek before facing Reading at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday 12 August.

It will be a painful return for Whites fans having lost out to the Royals there in the Play-Off semi-final in our last appearance of the 2016/17 season.

Another tough away trip follows as Fulham encounter Leeds United at Elland Road three days later, the last four meetings between the two sides have ended in 1-1 draws.

The month ends with two Saturday games, a home match against Sheffield Wednesday and then Ipswich Town away, a fixture which saw Fulham beat The Tractor Boys for the first time since 1963 last season.

After an international break, Fulham then have two home games to start September with Cardiff City coming down on Saturday 9th September and Championship new boys Hull City making their way to West London on the Tuesday night.

Fulham dispatched Hull at Craven Cottage 4-1 in last season's fourth round of the F.A. Cup, the game will be remembered for Marcus Bettinelli saving two Abel Hernandez penalties in two minutes towards the end of the game.

A trip to the Pirelli Stadium to play Burton Albion is next for the Whites before another tough home game against former Premiership side Middlesbrough on Saturday 23rd September.

It took an extra-time goal from Lasse Vigen Christensen to defeat Middlesbrough in last season's EFL Cup and Boro will be looking for a fast start to the season under the new management of former Leeds United and Swansea boss Gary Monk.

The month concludes with away games at the City Ground to play Nottingham Forest and a first London derby of the season against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday 30th September.

Fulham's internationals will then depart to represent their national sides giving the rest of the squad a two week break from domestic football.

Preston North End make their way down south on Saturday 14th October to face Fulham in the first of four league games in the month, three of which are at home.

The Whites only away game in October is a trip to the midlands to face Aston Villa before welcoming Bolton Wanderers back to the Championship the following Saturday followed by a Tuesday night visit on Halloween from Bristol City.

A fixture that will stick out for Fulham fans from last season is Wolves away and the Whites make the trip to Molineux on the first Saturday of November.

Last season Fulham and Wolves were honours even after a thrilling 4-4 draw which saw Tom Cairney score a spectacular rehearsed volley from a Stefan Johansen corner.

Fulham welcome Derby County a week later before playing League One Champions Sheffield United away on the Tuesday and League One Play-Off winners Millwall at Craven Cottage on the Saturday.

The Whites have failed to beat London rivals Millwall since a 4-1 win back in Division 2 during the 1998/1999 season.

December brings with it another London derby as Fulham fans will travel to Griffin Park on Saturday 2nd December with great memories from last season's 2-0 victory over the Bees.

Three Saturday games in a row then follow as Fulham welcome Birmingham City, before a trip to the North East to play Sunderland followed by Barnsley making their way to West London two days before Christmas.

There is then a busy period for Fulham fans around Christmas with an away game against Cardiff City on Boxing Day before another away trip to Hull City the day before New Year's Eve.

Fulham will welcome the New Year with a visit from Ipswich Town before three Saturday games to make up the rest of the month.

Middlesbrough away, Burton Albion at home and then Barnsley away to round off January for the Whites.

Fulham have failed to beat Burton Albion in the previous three encounters but fans may remember when 16-year-old Ryan Sessegnon grabbed a late equaliser in the third minute of added time to snatch a point in front of the Craven Cottage faithful last September.

February will again see Nottingham Forest travel to Craven Cottage, last season The Reds went down 3-2 in front of the Fulham fans. Former White Pajtim Kasami opened the scoring for the visitors after two minutes before Tom Cairney and Lucas Piazon put Fulham in front at the break.

Ben Brereton grabbed an equaliser for Forest just after half-time but a Jack Hobbs own goal 20 minutes from the end was enough to see Fulham over the line.

Tim Ream could return to the Macron Stadium when Fulham face his former club Bolton Wanderers on Saturday 10th February before returning to the Cottage to play Aston Villa the following weekend.

The Whites then make the trip down to Bristol City on Tuesday 20th February and then must welcome Wolves four days later. Last season the Wanderers ended Fulham's eight game unbeaten run in the league when they left Craven Cottage with three points following a 3-1 win in March.

Fulham enter March 2018 with a tricky away trip to Derby County, the Rams got the better of Fulham in the same fixture last season running out 4-2 winners, helped by a hat-trick from David Nugent.

The following Tuesday Fulham will play under the lights at Craven Cottage welcoming Sheffield United before making the trip up north to Deepdale where a game with Preston North End awaits.

Craven Cottage will host its second London derby of the season when Queens Park Rangers arrive on Saturday 17th March.

Once again Fulham will make their way to Norwich on Easter weekend, this time playing the Canaries on Saturday 31st March.

Last season the Whites held out with 10-men to leave Carrow Road on Good Friday with all three points following a 3-1 win with goals coming from Stefan Johansen, Tom Cairney and Floyd Ayité.

Then on Easter Monday Fulham play host to Leeds United, last season saw a fiery game between the two sides with Neeskens Kebano having a goal disallowed before Cairney grabbed a stoppage time equaliser with seconds left on the clock.

In the end-of-season run-in Fulham come up against 2016/17 Play-Off teams Sheffield Wednesday and Reading before back-to-back London derbies against Brentford at home and then a trip to The Den to play Millwall.
The final two games of the season will see Fulham welcome Sunderland back to the Cottage for a league game for the first time in over three years, while the Whites must travel to St. Andrew's to face Birmingham City on Sunday 6th May for their final game.

Fulham's analysts set to bring in Spanish defender

Fulham look set to sign centre-back Marcelo Djalo on the recommendation of the club's statistical analysis team.

The 23-year-old, who has been playing for Lugo in Spain's second tier, is pencilled in for a medical and is expected to discuss personal terms later this week.

Djalo has been targeted by the Whites' analysis department, which is led by vice-chairman and director of football operations Tony Khan and his assistant Craig Kline, who are keen to push ahead with the deal despite reservations from others at the club.

West London Sport revealed last August that head coach Slavisa Jokanovic was at odds with the Fulham hierarchy over the club's transfer policy.

The Serbian was eventually able to bring in a number of players and led the Whites to the play-offs, where they were beaten in the semi-finals by Reading.

The Barcelona-born Djalo began his career with Catalonian side Badalona and then moved to Granada to play for their B team.

He signed for Juventus in 2014 but did not make an appearance for the Italian giants before returning to Granada B on loan. He then had spells with Girona and Murcia before joining Lugo.

Should Newcastle United react as Fulham reportedly bid for Ligue 1's Diego Rolan?

Bordeaux striker Diego Rolan could finally move to England this summer with Fulham but Newcastle United have been linked in the past.

With Montpellier demanding £13 million for star striker Steve Mounie, Fulham always appeared to be wasting their time making an offer far below the Ligue 1 club's asking price, per Get West London.

And, inevitably, it appears that the Benin international, who hit 13 goals in France's top tier last season, is on his way elsewhere. Newly promoted Huddersfield Town are on the verge of sealing a club-record deal for Mounie, say L'Equipe.

Though it has not taken long for Fulham to turn their attention elsewhere. Get West London claims they have now made an offer for another Ligue 1 goalscorer, Bordeaux frontman Diego Rolan.

The 24-year-old didn't have his best season in front of goal in 2016/17, netting just ten times compared to 11 and 16 in the two seasons prior, but the Uruguayan's athleticism and versatility appears to make him a decent fit for Slavisa Jokanovic's side.

The question, however, is whether The Cottagers will have competition. Newcastle United have been heavily linked in the past, The Mirror claiming they launched an £11 million bid in the summer of 2015 after Rolan exploded onto the scene with 15 goals in 36 Ligue 1 games the previous season.

The Mirror also claim they were interested the following January, with the club notorious for tracking and recruiting Ligue 1 talent - not always with success. And with The Magpies in the market for a new striker, Jay Rodriguez and Vincent Aboubakar the latest names in the frame, Rolan's availability means they have an excellent opportunity to finally get their man – for a lot cheaper than £11 million too.

Keep on Rolan

However, Rolan's stock has fallen somewhat after failing to build on his goal-laden 2014/15 season. As such, there's doubts whether he could make the grade in the Premier League.

Newcastle, with plenty of money to spend, could sign better. Perhaps they should leave this one to Fulham.
