Fulham demand huge fee from Gent for Belgian-born Ghanaian defender Denis Odoi

English Championship side Fulham FC are demanding a fee of not less than €4 million for Belgian-born Ghanaian defender.

Widespread reports in UK indicate that, Belgian Jupilar PRO League side KAA Gent have submitted an offer of €3 million for the versatile guardsman but it was rebuffed by the Cottagers, claiming that they will not let go their prized asset for below €4 million.

But Gent are eager on the 29-year-old's signature and will increase their bid following the sale of one their last season best players.

“We are looking forward to sell midfielder Thomas Foket to Italian Serie A side Atalanta and we will use part of the money to sign Odoi,” Manager Michael Louwagie stated.

Odoi was signed by Fulham from Lokeren last season and netted twice in 27 league appearances.

Belgian side confirm Odoi interest but Fulham standing firm on asking price

The full back moved to Craven Cottage last season and scored twice in 27 appearances as the west Londoners were beaten in the play-off semi finals

Belgian side Gent have confirmed they are interested in signing Fulham's Denis Odoi but the Whites will only sell if they reach an appropriate fee.

The full back moved to Craven Cottage last season and scored twice in 27 appearances as the west Londoners were beaten in the play-off semi finals.

But, after the Belgian side sold Thomas Foket to Atalanta in Italy, they are keen to bring Odoi back to his homeland.

“We are looking forward to sell midfielder Thomas Foket to Italian Serie A side Atalanta and we will use part of the money to sign Odoi,” manager Michael Louwagie stated.

With Scott Malone joining Huddersfield, Slavisa Jokanovic won't be keen to see another full back option depart.

The Whites have rebuffed a €3million bid already from the Belgian side and are holding out for a fee in the region of €4m.

Academy Porto Tour

The Academy travel to Porto on Wednesday morning for a Pre-Season tour. All of the Under-18s and Under-23s will go for a week of preparation ahead of the season, whilst playing two friendlies each.

Steve Wigley’s Under-18s will play FC Marinhas on Saturday, followed by Boavista on Tuesday, both at 11am. Peter Grant’s Under-23s have friendlies organised also on Saturday and Tuesday against Portuguese teams Braga B and Guimaraes B at 5pm.

“I think what you get with where we go in North Portugal, is you get a climate that is not too dissimilar to summer on the British coast,” commented Academy Direct Huw Jennings.

“It’s not hot, its usually dry which would be helpful, but it’s not usually too hot. So playing against international opponents to similar conditions in the regular season is a good thing.

“There’s two purposes really, its an intensive period together, you’ve got access to the players 24/7 and it’s an opportunity therefore to influence them through that proximity. And then of course there is an opportunity to play good opposition from another country.

“We can play matches and train domestically, going away together gives the opportunity to for integration, it’s great because they’re living together as opposed to going off home at the end of the day.

“I think the fact that we go away together, the Under-18s and the Under-23s means we can integrate the groups. We don’t see them as two distinct groups, we see them as separate groups but not distinct groups.

“We would expect all of the Under-18s to play with the Under-23s, and we regularly play games against each other. That is a strong feature of the way we are, and I think that we particularly like the idea that the younger players are challenging the older players, so you don’t have to worry what’s in front of you, you can be concerned about what’s behind you.

“Our players are very used to playing international opponents by now, it’s something we do on a regular basis,” he said. “If you are new to the program that is different for you but generally speaking our players are very used to playing against international opponents.”

Benitez tipped to hijack Fulham striker talks

Newcastle United have joined Fulham in the race to sign Diego Rolan with the Bordeaux striker understood to be in England for talks.

Newspaper Sud Ouest reports that the Uruguayan international striker, who scored nine Ligue 1 goals in 19 starts last season, was in London on Tuesday with Fulham understood to be the favourites for his signature.

But Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez could now try to hijack the deal with the newspaper claiming there is eleventh-hour interest from the Magpies.

Benitez has expressed his frustration at the "crazy" state of the transfer market this summer and appears frustrated after adding only two new faces to his Championship title-winning squad.

Newcastle were linked to Rolan in July 2015 and January 2016 with a fee of £12million suggested but he now has just one year left on his Bordeaux contract and could come slightly cheaper.

Fulham now face worrying fight to land striker as Newcastle United enter race with Premier League lure

Fulham are hoping to finalise talks with striker but Newcastle could make late offer

Fulham have competition to sign Uruguayan striker Diego Rolan, with newly-promoted Newcastle United believed to have entered the race to sign him.

The Magpies are looking to boost their firepower back in the Premier League, and that may prove difficult for the Whites to compete with.

Frencg newspaper Sud Ouest is reporting that the Uruguayan international, who scored nine goals last season, is currently in London.

Fulham are believed to have conducted talks with the player, but now Newcastle could come in with a late offer with the lure of top flight football.

Sud Ouest believe the Magpies are frustrated with the transfer market and are desperate to land another front man.

Rolan only has one more year on his current deal at Bordeaux, so a fee will be involved and Fulham have money to spend.

The player was previously valued at around £12m but the Whites will be confident of landing him for much less.

Newcastle, however, will be able to offer Rolan higher wages.

Birmingham, Derby, and Fulham to battle for £3m French youngster

The Championship trio of Birmingham City, Derby County, and Fulham are lining up a summer move for Nantes midfielder Valentin Rongier, according to Get West London.

The 22-year-old midfielder came up through the ranks and the B team at the French outfit, and then earned his debut for the senior side back in October 2014 in a Ligue 1 clash at home to Riems.

And he has since added a further 53 appearances for the club and bagged four goals to help them consolidate their position in the French top-flight, before climbing the table last term by finishing seventh, eight points adrift of Bordeaux in the final European spot.

And with 31 Ligue 1 appearances last term, Rongier was clearly an important part of that side, and his fine efforts in the midfield have reportedly attracted the interest of Harry Redknapp’s Birmingham, Gary Rowett’s Derby, and Slavisa Jokanovic’s Fulham.

Redknapp’s Blues narrowly avoided the drop last season and ideally need reinforcements to climb the division next term, while Derby finished 13 points adrift of the top six in what was a frustrating campaign last time out, and will seek to further bolster their ranks ahead of a promotion push next season.

While Jokanovic’s Fulham fell to Reading in the play-off semi-finals but for the most part proved to be a seriously talented side last season, with just that little bit of extra quality needed to maintain their consistency over the course of the campaign – Rongier could provide that in the midfield.

It has been reported that £3 million may be enough to convince Claudio Ranieri’s Nantes to sell the midfielder this summer, but whether any of the aforementioned trio are willing to stump up the cash to land the Frenchman remains to be seen.

Newcastle, Sheffield Wednesday, Fulham & Preston keen on Manchester City defender – report

Having signed a new £40,000-a-week deal recently after Pep Guardiola convinced him to stay, Manchester City youngster Tosin Adarabioyo is poised to go out on loan in search of vital first-team experience.

Tosin, 19, is very highly regarded at City and some believe he could be a future club captain, but with only four appearances for Guardiola’s side under his belt, a season out on loan is important for his development and long-term future.

And according to The Times, Premier League side Newcastle are keen on the England youth international, as are Championship trio Sheffield Wednesday, Preston North End and Fulham.

City are willing to loan Tosin out to a top-flight side or a top-half Championship team, an achievement all three of his suitors from that division managed last year.

If a suitable loan move can be found by the start of next week, Adarabioyo could miss City’s tour of the United States.

Fulham, Preston, and Sheffield Wednesday in race for 19-year-old top talent

The Championship trio of Fulham, Preston, and Sheffield Wednesday are rivalling Newcastle for the signature of Manchester City youngster Tosin Adarabioyo, according to The Times.

The 19-year-old has come up through the youth ranks at the Etihad Stadium and subsequently earned his senior debut for the club in recent times, with the defender starting their FA Cup defeat at Chelsea back in February 2016.

And he has since appeared a further three times for the Citizens, including in their 1-1 draw at home to Celtic in the Champions League last season, yet with it highly unlikely that he’ll get regular minutes under Pep Guardiola next term, a loan spell away from the club seems inevitable.

And he doesn’t appear to be short of suitors either as recent reports suggest that top-flight side Newcastle and the Championship trio of Fulham, Preston, and Sheffield Wednesday are all interested in the young defender.

Slavisa Jokanovic’s Fulham and Carlos Carvalhal’s Wednesday both lost out in the play-off semi-finals last season, and will seek reinforcements this summer in a bid to go one better next time round, while managerless Preston will be looking to improve on back-to-back 11th place finishes next term, but will likely need to tighten up at the back having conceded 63 times last season.

Premier League football at St James’ Park may be of greater appeal though to both City and Adarabioyo, yet the likelihood of greater first team opportunities at the aforementioned second tier trio may persuade him to consider dropping down to the Championship.

But whether any of the quartet are able to get a deal done for the top talent this summer remains to be seen.

JET and new signings play as Fulham beat QPR in friendly

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas featured for QPR and new signing Ibrahima Cisse was among Fulham’s scorers as the Whites won 4-2 in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday afternoon.

Sone Aluko, Stefan Johansen and youngster Matt O’Riley also netted for Fulham, while Dan Darbyshire and Osman Kakay scored for QPR, whose line-up included outcast Emmanuel-Thomas, who spent last season on loan at Gillingham, and new signing Chay Tilt.

Winger Tilt, 19, has signed a deal until January after leaving West Bromwich Albion and his first outing came in the game at Fulham’s Motspur Park training ground.

While Rangers fielded their development side, Fulham’s line-up included a number of first-team players.

Ryan Fredricks, Tim Ream, Ragnar Sigurdsson, Aluko and Floyd Ayité all started for the hosts, as did Cisse and fellow recent signing Marcelo Djaló, while Tom Cairney, Stefan Johansen and Kevin McDonald came on as substitutes.

Fulham opened the scoring when Cisse’s 15th-minute free-kick struck the bar and rebounded into the net off keeper Seny Dieng,

Darbyshire equalised with a fine solo goal but Fulham were back in front by the interval courtesy of Aluko’s tidy finish.

O’Riley scored at the far post after being set up by Lasse Vigen Christensen four minutes into the second half, and Johansen’s free-kick made it 4-1 before Kakay netted a late goal for Rangers.

Fulham are just a striker away from a real title challenge

Fulham’s incoming transfer business – the captures of 23-year-olds Marcelo Djalo and Ibrahima Cisse – may have been slightly underwhelming so far.

However, the arrival of a top centre forward is all Slavisa Jokanovic needs to concern himself with, in order to transform last season’s sixth place finish into a real assault on the Championship’s top two.

Marcus Bettinelli provided a calmer presence than former Brentford keeper David Button at the back end of last season, and should line up behind Djalo and Icelander Ragnar Sigurdsson next term.

Ryan Fredericks has matured into a marauding presence at right back, while the departure of Scott Malone is more than offset by the fact that starlet Ryan Sessegnon looks set to remain at the Cottage for at least another season.

Only deciding to field Sessegnon on the left wing, where he has excelled for England in this summer’s Under 19 European Championship would necessitate a foray into the market for a left-back.

You would be hard pushed to find a more gifted and well-balanced midfield trio than Cisse, Stefan Johansen and skipper Tom Cairney, who rejected Premier League overtures to sign a new long-term deal this summer.

Along with the rapid Sessegnon, the Whites possess pace in abundance on the flanks in the shape of Floyd Ayite, Sone Aluko and Neeskens Kabano.

All that is missing is someone to occupy the opposition centre backs – something Chris Martin failed to do last season – and finish the chances Fulham’s free-flowing football invariably serves up.

Bordeaux’s Diego Rolan, with his Ligue 1 and Europa Ligue experience, would be an ideal candidate.

Yet, even if the lure of the Premier League with Newcastle sees Fulham miss out on the Uruguayan, as long as Jokanovic secures a hitman by the end of August, Fulham should be in the promotion picture once again.

Arsenal’s ‘next Jack Wilshere’ opts against Fulham to make Eredivisie move

Willem II are on the verge of signing Arsenal midfielder Daniel Crowley from Arsenal, according to the Brabants Dagblad.

The Dutch newspaper reports the Eredivisie club have beaten off the likes of Fulham and Hannover to the 19 year old’s signature. Dubbed the “next Jack Wilshere” by some, the central midfield player had just one year left on his contract at the Emirates, but the player decided that it was best for his development to move away from the Gunners.

Crowley had spent the second half of last season on loan in the Netherlands at the Go Ahead Eagles. He impressed during his spell in the Eredivisie with two goals from 16 appearances despite the Eagles’ subsequent relegation.

The England Under 19 international had previously spent time on loan at Barnsley and Oxford United over the past two years but the creative midfield talent has opted to switch countries in order to make a name for himself.

Pre-Season: Aluko Scores Again As Fulham Beat QPR U-23s

Nigerian forward, Sone Aluko, was on target for his English Championship club Fulham who defeated Queens Park Rangers' U-23s 4-2 in a behind-closed-doors pre-season friendly game at Motspur Park, London on Wednesday.

Aluko also scored one of Fulham's goals in their 2-2 pre-season friendly against FC Zlin last Saturday.

Ibrahima Cisse put Fulham 1-0 up in the 15th minute but Dan Darbyshire equalised for QPR's U-23s on 26 minutes.

Aluko made it 2-1 in favour of Fulham in the 35th minute and was replaced before the start of the second half.

In the 49th minute, Fulham's youth player Matthew O'Riley scored to give his team a 3-1 lead before Stefan Johansen added a fourth on 53 minutes.

With two minutes remaining, Osman Kakay got on the score sheet for QPR's U-23s to end the game 4-2.

Fulham will take on Bundesliga club Wolfsburg on Saturday, July 29, in another pre-season game.

Fulham should definitely attempt to sign this 22-year-old Ghanaian forward

Following a strong second half of the season, which saw Fulham pip Leeds to sixth spot, many fans thought the Whites had what it takes to outscore their opponents Reading and progress to the play-off final.

Unfortunately for the club, the Royals beat Slavisa Jokanovic’s side 2-1 on aggregate, leaving the West London outfit to prepare for another season in the Championship.

Despite that, Fulham did witness success last term, as signings Neeskens Kebano and Floyd Ayite both excelled at the club and showed their incredible talent.

Due to the success of these African talents, Jokanovic has further gone on to sign two other remarkable African talents in Ibrahima Cisse from Standard Liege and Marcelo Djalo from CD Lugo.

Ghanaian forward Godsway Donyoh, who is valued at £510k on Transfermarkt, may be another young African talent for Jokanovic to consider signing this summer.

The current FC Nordsjaelland forward is one of Ghana’s most promising young talents with the capability of developing into a star for their national team.

Being scouted by Manchester City in 2013, Donyoh signed for the club but after three seasons failed to make a first team appearance and was sold to the Danish side, despite successful loan spells at Djurgardens IF and Falkenburg.

In Denmark, the 22-year-old has excelled, scoring eight goals in 43 appearances from a primary wide position, with Donyoh using his pure pace and skill to cause many defences havoc since joining in 2016.

Whilst Fulham aren’t short of attacking talent, the addition of Donyoh would not only add greater depth to their already fantastic strikeforce, but he would also push current attackers such as Ayite and Sone Aluko, as the fight for a consistent first team place in Jokanovic’s side will only get harder, thus requiring more hard work and determination.

The Ghanaian is also a very versatile attacking talent, possessing the ability to play on either flank as a winger or inside forward alongside being able to play as a complete number nine, something which Fulham may be searching for.

Subsequently, with the wonderkid currently playing in Denmark, Nordsjaelland will find it very hard to keep hold of Donyoh as the prospect of Championship football could be too hard to resist for the African, as well as a possible pay-rise also likely to be on the cards.

Regardless of the circumstances, Fulham shouldn’t struggle to fund a move for the forward, and thus should look to get one done this summer.

Fulham European Finalists

Ryan Sessegnon and Tayo Edun starred as England Under-19s dramatically made the final of the European Championships, they both played the full match for England once again.

The Young Lions beat the Czech Republic 1-0 in the Semi-Final in Tbilisi, leaving it late with a goal from substitute Lucas Nmech in the 93rd minute, the last minute of added time. Portugal now await England in the Final on Saturday.

England had the best chance of the first half, Sessegnon fed Jay DaSilva down the left and his effort hit the left up right, with the keeper rooted to the spot.

The match winner Nmecha came on for Ben Brereton in the 60th minute, and England put on the pressure with both sides having chances to go ahead.

England had another very good chance later in the half, Sessegnon poked a ball into the back of the net in the 69th minute, however the offside flag was raised and the goal did not stand.

The match appeared to be heading into extra-time before Marcus Edwards got free on the right hand side of the pitch in the 93rd minute.

He swept a low ball into the box and Nmecha was on hand to dispatch the goal past the keeper, beating him with an audacious back heal flick at his near post sending England into the final.

This is the third time England have made the final at this level, however are yet to win the competition. They finished runners up in 2005 and 2009.
