NFR - Mark Sampson sacked

Anybody else think this Mark Sampson situation is incredibly odd? The man was cleared in 2 racism investigations and now has been fired over claims from his previous role.

This sentence to me is the most troubling:

The Football Association says that last week it was made aware of the full details of safeguarding allegations made against Sampson in 2014 relating to his time as Bristol Academy manager.

I think they need to clarify what this means, there is a real risk that a mans reputation will be further tarnished as the twittersphere takes these words and twists them.

After the first goal on Tuesday it was clear what the squad thought of him. They didn't need to react in the way they did. However whatever the truth or lies of any accusations. One thing is beyond doubt . The FA is not able to run anything without making a huge cock up of the whole thing. The accusations have been hanging around for so long. Then we have what looks like a satisfactory conclusion only to find we have more accusations pointed towards the manager from a  previous job.

What we end up with is not the feeling of a guilty or innocent man. Or women badly treated by a bully. But an organisation who have managed somehow to make serious matters worse by their complete incompetence. Which for the Womens game and the game in general is sad.

On a separate note. The decision to change the womens season back to the winter for ease of organisation. Will end up a disaster as nobody can really believe that as many people will want to pay out on a cold weekend, with sport and mens football going on around them, to watch a womens match.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Incompetence, Inefficiency, Negligence and Buffoonary are just 4 words in a Dictionary owned by the FA.
Some of them would attend the opening of an envelope, and ensure they were in attendance to choose the menu for one of their many Banquets.
But when it comes to Football related matters, especially grass roots, they couldn't run a bath.
The FA is already overrun with enough Quangos to sink a ship. Jobs for the boys.
The lack of basic football knowledge by many of these Buffoons beggars belief.
When they come along as guests to discuss football matters at grass roots level at meetings or workshops. Despite knowing very little about the subject, they are so condescending and self important and arrogant and look down their noses at the lower ends of the football pyramid, they will not listen to wise people who know the game inside out, because they are convinced they know better, and they really couldn't care less.
Its all about ticking boxes and ridiculous stats and being politically correct, that's all that matters to them.

The thing I don't understand with regard to this is that the 2014 fa enquiry found no wrongdoing, was independently checked which agreed with the decision. The enquiries with England were also independently checked and found all ok. However the current board reviewing the 2014 documents find sufficient grounds to dismiss him, strikes me as very odd.

Something is clearly wrong somewhere, but who, where and what I have no idea (and neither does the FA).

Odd because it's relating to something back in 2014 maybe, but there was about to be another racism investigation due to the other player coming forward.

Personally don't care one iota
Every day is a Fulham day

They must be doing this to cover something else up thats bubbling away.

I can't think of any other valid reason to sack him if they didn't sack him back when the 'offence' was committed.

He's been the subject of a number of investigations over the last 4 years. Either someone's got it in for him or his behaviour is inappropriate.

And why is a man in charge of the women's team anyway.

Why not?

Agree best person for the job should be the rule irrespective of gender, and that applies to any profession or career

Take the FA, an opaque, corrupt, clumsily-run organisation, and apply it to the current febrile, hyper-reactionary media climate around anything that someone somewhere considers to offend a group that someone else somewhere considers to be vulnerable for some reason, and you've a recipe for disaster. Unfortunately for Sampson he's felt the force of that here.

Exactly and Spot on.

Why shouldn't a man be in charge, what an odd medieval statement to make.

In my experience, opaque, corrupt, clumsily-run organisations excel at causing offence. It's what they do. . . regardless of whether the "media climate" is "febrile" or not.

FWIW, the media have done an excellent job on this story: Daniel Taylor at the Guardian in particular.

The situation the FA are now in is entirely of their own making.  They did not interview the alleged victims of the bullying and racism claims and only now is the full picture of their incompetence and negligence coming to light.   I am not sure how any of their top people can remain in office and now the media and politicians are going to have a field day ripping the truth out of all the lies that have been told regardless of who is sacked and who remains.

The allegations concern inappropriate behaviour highlighted by the FA's own human resources investigation into problems at Bristol Academy in 2013, and reported on after investigation in 2014, suggesting Sampson had crossed the line in the relationship between players and coaches.  (Sampson was sent on a course to mend his ways, allegedly) For some reason Mr Glenn claims he was not aware of this report until recently but his senior assistant, Dan Ashworth - a friend of Sampson - almost certainly was.  Mr Glenn has chosen to act upon the human resources report now for reasons he has not explained with any real credibility other than the growing evidence that the FA's two racism investigations were not fit for purpose, something the PFA and women's football interests have been saying all along, and will need to be investigated properly this time around.   It is pretty easy to guess why Mr Glenn may have thought he had found an easy way out of the 'Sampson saga'.

The Guardian and BBC have excellent articles on the whole subject matter which do not show the FA or its senior staff in good light at all.

So that's that then.
The Guardian and the BBC two of the most corrupt organizations on the planet have passed judgement... lol.

If that is true the FA must be up there with them, Mince, along with the PFA, a couple of barristers, the Common's Select Committee who are going to be interviewing all concerned, and all those who were affected by Sampson's alleged behaviour.  Due judgement upon Mr Sampson was exercised by the FA who sacked him on a report on a matter they have known about since before he was appointed as England's women's coach.
