How much do you think Swansea target Ryan Fredericks is worth at Fulham?

Swansea are being linked with a move for the right back - but how much do you think he's worth to Fulham?

Swansea are being hotly linked with a move for Fulham right back Ryan Fredericks, with a reported £3m bid in the offering.

Stoke City were also interested in signing the 25-year-old, but look to have moved for Rubin Kazan right back Moritz Bauer after the Cottagers rejected bids for Fredericks.

And now, it looks like a one horse race with Swansea still keen on Fredericks, despite Fulham's stance that they won't be selling any key players this January.

Fredericks has six months left on his contract and was offered a new deal by the Whites at the start of December, but would be able to move on a free transfer at the end of the season should he wish, meaning Fulham would be due no compensation.

The right back has made it clear that one of his ambitions is to play Premier League football, but whether that might be with Fulham or elsewhere remains to be seen.

With that said, how much do you think Fredericks is worth to Fulham at this moment in time? Use our player worth gadget below to let us know.

Reports link Sheffield Wednesday and Fulham with Mata and Guardiola

Sheffield Wednesday and Fulham are both said keen on the Segunda Liga stars.

Reports in Spain are linking Sheffield Wednesday and Fulham with Segunda Liga strikers Jaime Mata and Sergi Guardiola.

According to Pucel Fichajes, Wednesday, Fulham, Norwich City and Bournemouth have followed Mata throughout the campaign, and been to watch him in action for Real Valladolid.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of the campaign, however, the report states that offers, which could exceed €1 million (£8,860,000), may arrive in the coming days.

Mata has scored 18 goals in 21 second tier matches this season, which is six more than Guardiola, who is the league's second top scorer. And according to Diario Cordoba, Fulham and Wednesday have been tracking him too.

The report adds that the pair's interest has led to a 'first economic approach' being made through intermediaries. And it is claimed that a firm offer between €4-and-€5 million (£3.5-and-£4.4 million) could be enough to land Guardiola, who is three years younger than Mata and has two more to run on his Cordoba contract.

Fulham are believed to be in the market for striking reinforcements this winter, having been linked with a move for Bournemouth's Lewis Grabban this week. And while Sheffield Wednesday are not short of numbers in attack, they are currently without Gary Hooper, Steven Fletcher and Fernando Forestieri through injury, while Sam Winnall is on loan to Derby County.

Sheffield Wednesday and Fulham to tussle for 18-goal striker

Sheffield Wednesday and Fulham are to battle it out with each other in the race for Real Valladolid striker Jaime Mata, according to Spanish outlet Pucela Fichajes.

The hitman has 18 goals in 21 Segunda Liga appearances this season and his contract is running down in the summer and the Championship duo are among the clubs who are interested in a cut-price January deal.

Norwich City as well as Premier League strugglers Bournemouth are also interested in the 29-year-old Spanish striker and are looking at a making a bid of around 1 million euros in the coming days.

The Verdict

Experienced goalscorers are like gold dust in the January transfer window and the prospect of securing one for a cut-price with an impending contract expiry looks like a huge opportunity for any Championship club.

There will, of course, be question marks over how a Spaniard would adapt to the pace of English football in the middle of the season but goalscorers know where the net is wherever they're playing their football.

Tottenham favourites to sign Sessegnon

Tottenham are the favourites to sign Fulham sensation Ryan Sessegnon this month despite the Premier League's biggest clubs beating a path to his door, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claim that the north Londoners are ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United in the race to capture the 17-year-old wide dazzler.

The Mail report that Fulham are open to the sale of their prize asset at the right place in the January window but want to take him back on loan for the season should a sale be agreed this month.

Sessegnon can play anywhere on the flank and swaps between left-back and left midfield on almost a match-by-match basis.

He has scored seven goals in 26 league matches this season, and also weighed in with four assists, even though over half of those have come in defence.

Good move for Tottenham?

All the signs are that Sessegnon is that rarity, a young English player whose potential is off the scale. The Londoner has created a lot of buzz since his debut senior campaign ended with him named in the Championship team of the season, a stunning achievement for someone who did not even turn 17 until May, at which point he signed his first professional deal. Signing him in January might not be ideal for Spurs, especially if Danny Rose remains at the club, but it would make sense for the wonderkid to return to Fulham for the rest of the season to continue his amazing development.

This Is Futbol rating: 9/10

Likely to happen?

Very possibly, but Spurs must present Sessegnon with a proposal in which they can develop him into a truly world-class player. Mauricio Pochettino will be key. The Argentine has a proven track record for developing young players and knows how to make stars rather than simply buy them, which is the long-favoured policy of United's Jose Mourinho. Spurs have their work cut out to seal a January deal, given the competition, but it could help them that Kingston-reared Sessegnon wants to remain in London.

January transfer window: Fulham forward looking to cap eventful week with Football League debut

Powerful front man ready for debut

It has already been a hugely eventful week for Elijah Adebayo, who joined Cheltenham Town on loan from Fulham until the end of the season on Tuesday.

He celebrated his 20th birthday on Sunday and signed a new contract with his parent club on Monday, keeping him at Craven Cottage until the summer of 2019.

And now the powerful striker has the prospect of his Football League debut approaching on Saturday as 14th placed Cheltenham play fourth placed Accrington Stanley at home in League Two.

"I'm really pleased to sign a new contract at Fulham," Adebayo said.

"I've worked really hard this year and I'm just looking forward to kicking on over the next year and half.

"People always told me that the harder you work the luckier you get. I've taken my chances this year when they've come but it is really about kicking on and taking the next step.

"I'm really looking forward to testing myself in the Football League, I've had spells at different places but not in the League so it will be nice to get out and show what I can do, hopefully scoring a few more goals."

Elijah Adebayo of Fulham

Adebayo took in successful loan spells at Slough Town and Bognor Regis last season, scoring a hat-trick on his debut for the former.

He is one of three new signings for Cheltenham so far, along with Emmanuel Onariase and Sanmi Odelusi, who scored on his debut in Saturday's 4-1 win at Colchester United.

Ryan Sessegnon's development must be managed carefully

The Championship is famed for its gruelling schedule, lengthy campaign and a physicality which truly tests the limits of any player. It's not unusual for goalkeepers or experienced centre backs to have played every minute of every game, with the likes of Alex Smithies, Ben Gibson and Curtis Davies all clocking up 2,340 minutes of action thus far. More impressively, Sheffield United's Adam Reach has also started – and completed – each of his 26 games from left midfield, establishing himself as one of the second tier's best players.

George Saville of Millwall, Chris Gunter of Reading and Jake Bidwell of QPR have over 2,300 minutes to their names as well, but one player who shares that accolade when you might expect otherwise is 17-year-old Ryan Sessegnon. The teenager has played the most minutes of any Fulham player so far this season and, according to his manager Slavisa Jokanovic, will not be rested any time soon. Found either at left-back or left-wing, Sessegnon has directly contributed to 30% of his team's goals (in the form of goals and assists) and is currently being watched by Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United.

Young players need minutes, and undoubtedly, at the top level, they are not being given the chance to prove themselves. But in the case of Sessegnon – when is too much, too much?

In the last decade alone, there are numerous examples of exciting young talents breaking through in England and fading away, both physically and mentally, before reaching their peak. Joe Cole was the nation's brightest hope after shining at West Ham but constantly found himself hampered by muscle injuries. Watching Michael Owen breeze past a no-nonsense Argentine defence in 1998 and you'd be crazy not to imagine him breaking goalscoring records. But despite playing for Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester United, his potential was never fulfilled and throughout the course of his career was subject to 837 days on the treatment table. Jermaine Jenas was another bright prospect to suffer a similar fate.

Looking closer to the present day, Wayne Rooney signed for United as an 18-year-old and featured regularly for club and country ever since. Unlike those listed above, Rooney enjoyed success and an impressive peak in his mid-twenties, but slowed down significantly as he touched his thirties which resulted in a deeper positional change into midfield. A far cry from his relentless, dogged style we'd become so used to watching.

Jack Wilshere was brought through by Arsene Wenger as a 17-year-old and played with a maturity found in players ten years his senior, however, being battered and bruised by grown men has taken its toll on his body. He has strung a decent run together recently, but the silence is telling every time he goes down clutching his ankle. Even Daniel Sturridge looks to be fighting a losing battle – breaking down every time he returns to full fitness. He too was relied on as a teenager at Manchester City.

You could certainly point to the individuals and simply denote that they are injury prone players, but the correlation between them playing at the highest level (whilst still developing) and suffering with consistent problems later on is transparent.

Moving away from the physical aspect, research conducted by Dr Andrew Hill – lecturer in sports and exercise science at the University of Leeds – said that young people who are thrust into extremely high-pressure situations are more likely to show signs of chronic stress, fatigue and disillusion within their sport. He found that up to a quarter of boys reported experiencing symptoms of burnout due to external pressures from others, a fear of making mistakes and concerns over their futures.

"What we see among the athletes showing symptoms of burnout is emotional and physical exhaustion, a sense that they are not achieving and a sense of devaluation of the sport. Even though they might originally enjoy their sport and be emotionally invested in it, they eventually become disaffected. Participation can be very stressful" Dr Hill said.

There is no outstanding evidence to suggest that Sessegnon will experience a similar experience to those above, but the precedent has been set. The Wandsworth-born winger has both the technical and physical attributes to make a Bale-esque transformation and should be managed carefully over this transitional phase. There is a common phrase in football that reads 'if you are good enough, you are old enough' which to an extent is true, but even if the talent is there, at 17 years of age the body and mind may not be.

It's rare to find a teenager with such conviction in his own technique and ability, but those managing him at domestic and international level have a huge role to play here. Knowing when to take him out of the spotlight may cost you short term, but preserving, and more importantly maximising, a long-term career will always be priceless.

Fulham, Norwich City and Sheffield Wednesday are all keen on prolific Spanish striker

Championship sides Fulham, Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich City are all being linked with a move for Real Vallodolid striker Jaime Mata by Spanish website Pucela Fichajes.

Premier League side Bournemouth have also been credited with an interest with the Spanish Segunda Division striker, whose contract expires in the summer.

The 29 year-old has scored 18 goals for Real Vallodolid so far this season and it is this form that has made him one of the most prolific strikers in Europe at the moment.

He has been attracting attention from various Championship clubs who could swoop for him in this transfer window. The Spanish side may want to cash in on him in January to avoid losing him for free in the summer.

The 6ft 1inc striker was born in Madrid and has spent his whole career playing in Spain. He has played for the likes of Galactico Pegaso, Socuéllamos, Mostoles, Lleida Esportiu, Girona and now Real Vallodolid of whom he signed for in 2016.

Sheffield Wednesday are one club who have been linked with a move for him. Their new manager, Jos Luhukay, will be given money to spend this January as he looks to put his own stamp on the team. The signing of Jaime Mata could be one step towards doing this.

He will face competition from Fulham and Norwich City for him though. They are two clubs who need a striker to help bolster their attacking options for the rest of the campaign. It will be interesting to see where Mata will end up.

Wolves' £34m link with Andre Silva shows Fulham need to be clever with their transfer dealings

Fulham need to be clever with their transfer dealings in an inflated market as a result of high transfer fees

The Championship's runaway leaders, Wolves, have been linked with another mega money move for AC Milan's striker Andre Silva as they look not only to win the league, but to challenge in the Premier League next year.

To anyone looking, the money Wolves have spent on transfers seems mind boggling - they've signed Ruben Neves, Barry Douglas and even got Diogo Jota on loan from Atletico Madrid.

And now, another rumour has arisen that they've had a bid for AC Milan's striker, Silva, with a figure being quoted that others in the Championship can only dream on.

And while some fans may be bitter over the money Wolves can spend, it shows Fulham need to be clever with their signings in this window, and those to come.

The Cottagers, although there is money available, won't be spending the sums that Wolves have spent in the past six months, and that isn't a problem.

While spending big doesn't necessarily guarantee success, it does help, as we've seen with Wolves this season, but we've also seen with the likes of Brentford that you don't need to spend big to do well.

The market is becoming increasingly inflated, with high transfer fees being the norm, but Fulham's recruitment team know there is value to find out there, and don't need to be drawn into going big on mediocre players.

They've shown they can do that - last summer, to a lot of people's dismay at the time, they sold Sone Aluko for a reported £7.5m to Reading, a side they lost to in the Play-offs only months before.

Fulham signed Aluko on a free 12 months previously, making £7.5m worth of profit and replaced him with loanee Sheyi Ojo, who has gone on to be one of the signings of their season.

That kind of approach needs to continue as the club go forward - the parachute payments are nearly gone and, despite being comfortably within the Financial Fair Play limits, Fulham can't go hell for leather on making big money signings, they need to be clever with who they bring in and what they pay for them.

Players like Aboubakar Kamara, who would've been overlooked by other clubs as a result of how raw he is, shows how Fulham need to operate in a market that is inflated due to transfer fees.

It's not limited to Kamara, Fulham's neighbours, Brentford, signed Ryan Woods despite other clubs passing up on him because of the way he ran - he's now one of the best midfielders in the division.

When another club knows what a team is looking for, they'll try and get as much money out of them as possible, but Fulham need to be clever in their dealings - there is always another player available.

Fulham, Reading and Sunderland enquire over availability of Derby County striker

Championship trio Fulham, Reading and Sunderland have all enquired about the availability of Derby County striker Chris Martin, according to John Percy of the Telegraph.

Martin is believed to be able to leave the Rams on loan this month, with a number of clubs keen on signing the experienced Championship hitman.

Martin has made just five league starts this season and has found himself behind a number of other strikers in the pecking order this season. David Nugent, Sam Winnall, Matej Vydra and Andreas Weimann are all currently ahead of the 29-year old in Gary Rowett's plans.

Reading have been chasing a new number nine since last summer, and have also been linked with a move for Barnsley striker Tom Bradshaw. Manager Jaap Stam confirmed his interest in the Welshmen today, but if reports are to be believed then Martin is another option to strengthen the Royals' forward line.

Meanwhile, Fulham are also thought to have asked about the Scottish international. Martin spent last season on loan at the Cottagers, scoring 11 goals in 34 appearances.

Fulham have struggled to find a consistent goal scorer, with summer signings Rui Fonte and Aboubakar Kamara both struggling to make an impact this season. The pair have conjured up just seven-league goals between them so far in a Fulham shirt.

The last club to linked with Martin are Sunderland, who are desperate for attacking reinforcements after top scorer Lewis Grabban was recalled early from him loan spell by parent club Bournemouth.

Chris Coleman is only able to use the loan market this month to boost his squad, and a move for Martin could help fill the void left by Grabban.

Exclusive: Ryan Sessegnon to stay at Fulham this month despite Man Utd and Tottenham interest

Ryan Sessegnon is being chased by a number of clubs Credit: getty images

The Fulham vice-chairman Tony Khan has announced that the club's 17-year-old phenomenon Ryan Sessegnon will not be sold this month, amid interest from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur among others in the England Under-19 international.

The club's most senior figure Khan said that Sessegnon, a left-sided player whose twin brother Steven is also highly-rated, would not be permitted to leave the club in this window.

The likelihood is that Ryan will go in the summer for what could yet be a British record fee for a teenager, eclipsing the £36 million Manchester United paid for Anthony Martial in 2015.

Khan, also the club's director of football operations, said: "As it's been the subject of a great deal of speculation, I'd like to announce that Ryan Sessegnon is staying with Fulham football club and will not be departing during this January transfer window. Ryan is a very important part of the Fulham family, and we're grateful that he'll be with us as we fight to achieve promotion this season."

United have shown the most interest in Sessegnon with the left-back position problematic for them all season. Spurs will hope that their track record in developing young English talent will prove persuasive for the player. Liverpool have also scouted both the brothers in the past. Both Ryan and Steven signed new contracts in June that will have two years to run come the summer.

Fulham hope that their latest academy produced player will help them return to the Premier League this season, with the club currently tenth in the Championship and four points off the play-off places. There is a possibility that Sessegnon could even stay a further season at Fulham if they get promoted back to the Premier League.

They were relegated in their first season under the ownership of Khan's father, the American billionaire Shahid who bought the club in 2013. Judging by his rapid improvement Sessegnon will be the subject of some of the biggest offers made this summer.

Spurs and Manchester United dealt major transfer blow regarding January move for Ryan Sessegnon

The youngster has been tipped to secure a move to the Premier League

Spurs have been dealt a major transfer blow with the news that Ryan Sessegnon will not be leaving Championship side Fulham this month.

Linked with a move to the Lilywhites over the past 12 months, reports have suggested that Mauricio Pochettino's team and Manchester United would launch a move for the youngster before the transfer window closes.

However, Fulham vice-chairman, Tony Khan, has insisted that their star player will be going anywhere prior to the transfer window closing at the end of the month.

Having played a major role for the west London club last season, Sessegnon has gone from strength to strength this term and netted seven goals in 29 appearances in all competitions.

Khan, speaking to the Telegraph, said: "As it's been the subject of a great deal of speculation, I'd like to announce that Ryan Sessegnon is staying with Fulham football club and will not be departing during this January transfer window.

"Ryan is a very important part of the Fulham family, and we're grateful that he'll be with us as we fight to achieve promotion this season."

While the 17-year-old will be remaining at Craven Cottage for the remainder of the season, it looks likely that he will depart come the summer.

Fulham issue 'hands-off' warning to Tottenham and Man Utd

Fulham vice-chairman Tony Khan has insisted that full-back Ryan Sessegnon will not be sold this month.

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have been strongly linked with the 17-year-old, but Khan says he will not be allowed to leave the club at the moment.

"As it's been the subject of a great deal of speculation, I'd like to announce that Ryan Sessegnon is staying with Fulham Football Club and will not be departing during this January transfer window," he told the Telegraph.

"Ryan is a very important part of the Fulham family, and we're grateful that he'll be with us as we fight to achieve promotion this season."

Fulham are currently tenth in the Championship, four points adrift of the play-off places.

Sessegnon has quickly developed into one of the most sought-after players in England since making his senior debut in August 2016.

He has scored 12 goals in 51 appearances in the Championship and has also represented England at U16, U17 and U19 level.

Spurs and United were believed to be willing to pay £30 million plus add-ons for the defender, but that fee could rise even further if Sessegnon continues to impress.

Tottenham and Manchester United target Ryan Sessegnon to stay at Fulham

The Vice Chairman and Director of Football Operations has revealed that Fulham's wonderkid will be going nowhere

Ryan Sessegnon WILL be staying at Fulham .

Tony Khan, the Vice Chariman and Director of Football operations at the club, has confirmed that the 17-year-old wonderkid won't be leaving Craven Cottage during January, despite interest from Manchester United and Tottenham.

Fulham have been adamant, as reported on GetWestLondon, that none of their key players will be leaving during the transfer window and Mr Khan has now confirmed that Sessegnon will not be going anywhere.

And Khan, speaking to the Telegraph , said: "As it's been the subject of a great deal of speculation, I'd like to announce that Ryan Sessegnon is staying with Fulham football club and will not be departing during this January transfer window.

"Ryan is a very important part of the Fulham family, and we're grateful that he'll be with us as we fight to achieve promotion this season."

Jokanovic to make 4 changes – Predicted 4-3-3 Fulham lineup to face Middlesbrough

Predicted Fulham Lineup To Face Middlesbrough In The EFL Championship

Fulham take a trip to the Riverside Stadium this weekend, as they gear up to take on Middlesbrough in the EFL Championship on Saturday.

The Cottagers sit 10th in the table, with 39 points after 26 rounds of fixtures. They are 2 points behind their weekend's opponents and four points off the last playoff position. Manager Slavisa Jokanovic will be hoping to put pressure on the teams above, with a win over Tony Pulis' side.

Fulham come into the game on the back of a four-match unbeaten record in the Championship, the latest being a 4-1 win over Ipswich Town. Despite the 1-0 loss to Southampton in the FA Cup, the London outfit will enter the game in high spirits.
Team News

Fulham winger Floyd Ayite is set to miss the game. Ayite limped off with a suspected hamstring injury during the 4-1 victory over Ipswich and was unavailable for the FA Cup match against Southampton as well.

Here's how the Cottagers might take the field against Boro this weekend:

Manager: Slavisa Jokanovic
Formation: 4-3-3
Marcus Bettinelli (GK)

The 25-year-old has started the last six league games for Fulham and is likely to do so again, replacing David Button who was in the line-up for the cup tie.
Ryan Fredericks (RB)

A constant presence in the backline for the Cottagers, Ryan Fredericks is a guaranteed starter at right-back against Boro.
Tomas Kalas (CB)

The on-loan Chelsea defender has made 23 appearances in the English second division for his loan side this term. Should start his 24th match on Saturday.

Tim Ream (CB)

Alongside Kalas, it should be the experienced USMNT international Tim Ream who could start in the heart of the defence.
Ryan Sessegnon (LB)

The 17-year old sensation is another permanent fixture in the team for Jokanovic. Should start as the left-back against Boro.
Tom Cairney (CM)

Having been rested for the cup game against Southampton, Tom Cairney should return to the starting XI for the Cottagers.
Oliver Norwood (CM)

The 26-year-old Northern Irishman hasn't featured in only two Championship games this term for Fulham. Should occupy the holding role on Saturday.
Stefan Johansen (CM)

The Norwegian international has chipped in with 5 goals and 2 assists from the midfield in 25 Championship appearances. A definite starter.

Lucas Piazon (RW)

With Ayite unlikely to be fit, Lucas Piazon could be set for his first start in the Championship since August last year.
Aboubakar Kamara (ST)

The 22-year-old has scored 4 times in his last two appearances in the second division. Should get the chance to lead the line once again.
Sheyi Ojo (LW)

On the left-hand side of the attacking trident, it should be Liverpool loanee Sheyi Ojo. Has scored just once in the last five games and will want to change that.

Ryan Sessegnon staying at Fulham, says Tony Khan
by Dan on January 10, 2018

Fulham's director of football Tony Khan has announced that the club's prized asset Ryan Sessegnon will be staying at Craven Cottage until at least the end of the season.

Sessegnon, who has been heavily linked with moves to either Manchester United or Tottenham during the current transfer window, has agreed to continue his development with Fulham, according to a statement that Khan, also a vice chairman at the west London club owned by his father Shahid Khan, gave to the Telegraph tonight. The 17 year-old has played every game of Fulham's Championship campaign to date and continued his meteoric rise that began with his senior debut at Leyton Orient in the League Cup last August.

Khan told the Telegraph:

As it's been the subject of a great deal of speculation, I'd like to announce that Ryan Sessegnon is staying with Fulham Football Club and will not be departing during this January transfer window. Ryan is a very important part of the Fulham family, and we're grateful that he'll be with us as we fight to achieve promotion this season.

Sessegnon, who helped England's under 17 side win the European Championships last summer, has immensely valued the start in senior football given to him by Fulham's head coach Slavisa Jokanovic, who has carefully managed his subsequent development. The teenager, whose Fulham family connections are strong with his twin brother Steven also on the club's books, began the 2017/2018 at left back and has gradually moved further forward, memorably scoring an incredible hat-trick at Sheffield United in November.

Sessegnon, who turned down a whole host of Europe's leading sides to turn professional with Fulham when he and Steven signed three-year deals last summer, has made 59 first-appearances for the Whites, already scoring fourteen goals. He still hopes to make it to the top flight with Fulham, who reached the play-off semi finals last season. Jokanovic's side currently sit in tenth place in the Championship – four points off the top six.

Rangers reportedly chasing experienced English Championship midfielder again

The Daily Star have broadcasted the news from The Sun about potential Rangers' move for Fulham midfielder Kevin McDonald in the January transfer window.

Scottish giants were already looking to bring McDonald to Ibrox last summer and now they'll have to beat tough competition from Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday.

Rangers' boss Graeme Murty would like to give some depth to his midfield, as the Gers are looking to fight for a Champions League' spot this year.

The former Scotland U-21 international is a tenacious box-to-box midfielder who could bring some strength and energy to Rangers' game. The 29-year-old is known for his shooting and passing abilities, with long-range balls considered to be his specialty.

McDonald has been a regular starter for Fulham this season, and manager Slavisa Jokanovic would hardly be ready to give up on his services.

Rangers' would face a fierce competition from Middlesbrough after the new manager Tony Pulis has allegedly identified McDonald as a perfect January signing.
