Either England v. Oz at Twickenham or England v. Slovenia at Wembley a few years ago. Not sure what the attendances were for either, but both must have been around the 80,000 mark.

keith

Bobby Moore's last game for England at Wembley v Italy 74, and the 75 Cup Final.

Football  - Same as that. 100,000, 1975, heartbreak.

Not a sport but - Isle of Wight 1970 half a million - far out!

Football: about 25,000 at the Cottage to see us lose to Everton the year we were relegated.

Americanised football: about 110,000 to see Michigan v. Michigan State at Big House Stadium in the late 1990s.

Ice Hockey: about 75,000 for Michigan State v Michigan at Spartan Stadium about the same time.

I lived in Michigan for a few years in around the millennium.

Think mine was the semi against Chelsea at villa park. missed much of the prem years as was living in Penzance and only got to about half a dozen home games a season during that time. Do remember watching us play in front of barely 2000 when in the old 4th division though, bloody hell, how tough were those years and nearly becoming Fulham park rangers!? I'll be wareing my back to the cottage shirt on Saturday as a reminder of where we have come from.will be very emotional come Saturday

My grandad was at the game against Millwall in 1949 I think it was when 49000 were squeezed into the cottage though!

What are the biggest stadiums in football and which are the biggest stadiums in sport?

I think I saw a cricket stadium in kolkata with a capacity of 120,000? Is that the biggest stadium in the world?

Eden Gardens.  Its come down a bit - 80,000 or so.  It's been my good fortune to go there for an IPL game and it's quite a spectacle, highly recommend it.  Part of the astonishment is it's location in the historical centre of Kolkata.  Imagine Lords being plonked at Hyde Park Corner and you get the idea.
