I expect us to finish second on 4 points, and would take that. We aren't the best team in the group by a long way. Don't understimate Tunisia either.

After that, see how it goes, but yes you'd expect us to be Colombia/Poland and then face the Germans.
Have England finishing 2nd in the predictor at work

World Cup winners have to have World class players. How many do we have? One or two but not many more. Earning in excess of £100k a week does not make you a World class player.
At first your comment reads like wisdom but then you realise it becomes misleading.  As Carborundum implies (reply #19) how does a player become world class if they are not playing the big stage, and what, in a nutshell, is a sure footed definition of a world class player other than one who the ability to take on the world?   The price tags do not tell the truth any more than do punditry or transfer fees.  Only when a player truly stands head and shoulders via memorable performances across a career do they become world class in memory.   In my lifetime German teams have always had the organisation, the discipline, and sometimes the flair to do well, but, on occasions, flair alone has also dared to win through.   The competition is as much about who turns up as it is about the standard of players before they even set off on the journey.

Woolly Mammoth is right, trying to pick winners and losers before a ball has been kicked in anger is a mugs game.
However anyone who would write Germany off at this stage is in danger of having to eat a lot of humble pie.
