Report: Fulham eye Chambers but balk at asking price

According to The Times (£), newly promoted Fulham are reportedly interested in signing Calum Chambers but Arsenal's £22 million asking price could well scupper negotiations.

After impressing on loan with Middlesbrough in 2016/17, the England international nearly left the Emirates last summer with both Leicester City and Crystal Palace lodging bids in the region of £25 million. In the end, Arsene Wenger decided to keep the 23-year-old centre-back and he went on to pen a contract extension in October.

Chambers, who was signed for £16 million from Southampton in 2014, made 24 appearances last season but will no doubt be wondering what the future holds under new coach Unai Emery.

The Gunners have already signed veteran right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free and are understood to be close to signing Sokratis from Borussia Dortmund. We've also been linked with Turkey international Caglar Soyuncu, currently plying his trade with Bundesliga side Freiburg.

Whatever happened to Ashkhan Dejagah? The ex-Fulham forward starring for Iran at the World Cup 2018

The 31-year-old spent two years at Craven Cottage and will be hoping to fire Iran to the last 16 at Russia 2018

There might be no Fulham players to cheer on at the World Cup 2018 in Russia this summer, but there are certainly a few with connections to west London to keep an eye on.

One of those is Askhan Dejagah, the Iranian international who turned out for the Whites for two seasons.

Now 31, Dejagah will be playing his second World Cup as his country take on the likes of Morocco, European champions Portugal and Spain, one of the favourites for the tournament.

It won't be easy for Iran or Dejagah, with most expecting the country to crash out of the competition at the group stages, but the forward will be hoping a strong World Cup will see his chances of getting a new club increase after being released by Championship Nottingham Forest at the end of his contract.

The forward left Fulham after relegation to the second tier of English football, but what happened to him after that? We take a look at the Iranian's path from the Cottage to Russia.

Leaving Fulham

Fulham were relegated at the end of the 2013-14 season as they finished 19th in the Premier League, but Dejagah impressed the fans who voted him 'Player of the Season' after netting six goals, most of which were long range strikes.

He left the club to join Qatar side in July 2014, reportedly on a contract worth £80k per week, but has since said that he left Craven Cottage with a heavy heart.

"I had a great time at Fulham, so it was not easy for me to leave," Dejagah told Fulham's official website.

"It was a really difficult situation for me because Fulham was like a family club. In my two years they really were in my heart."

He made 49 appearances for the Cottagers in total before a change in scenery beckoned.

Move to Qatar and Al-Arabi

After featuring in all three games during Iran's 2014 World Cup campaign in Brazil against Nigeria, Argentine and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dejagah signed for Al-Arabi in Qatar for an undisclosed fee.

In his first campaign there he helped the side finish eighth before being named their Player of the Season in the following season.

However, after that Al-Arabi's board members wanted to remove him from the club's squad and did so in 2016 - a move which signalled the end of his stint in Qatar, which finished in January of 2017.

Return to Germany

Dejagah returned to Germany and signed for previous club Wolfsburg, with whom he won the Bundesliga with in 2009, putting pen-to-paper on a six-month deal in January 2017.

It didn't go well for the Iranian, who suffered a hamstring injury shortly after heading back to Germany, meaning he was sidelined for nearly four months.

He only made two appearances for the German outfit, both coming in the relegation play-off fames against Eintracht Braunschweig as he came on as a substitute, with Wolfsburg eventually winning the tie 2-0 on aggregate.

However, Wolfsburg decided not to extend his contract and announced he would be leaving the club at the end of that season.

Move to Nottingham Forest

Dejagah was without a club until January 2018, but was continued to be picked in Carlos Quieroz' Iran side as they looked to qualify for the World Cup.

In January 2018, Nottingham Forest announced they would be signing forward on a deal until the end of the season.

It was more of the same story for Dejagah, who made just the one substitute appearance for Forest, coincidentally against Fulham at the Cottage, before getting injured.

(Image: Stuart Franklin - FIFA/FIFA via Getty Images)

That injury meant he wouldn't play again for Aitor Karanka's side, but he has still been picked in the Iran side that go to the World Cup for the second competition in succession.

He's going to be hoping he can impress onlookers in Russia as he finds himself without a club once more after Forest announced he would be leaving the City Ground at the end of his contract.

With games against Portugal and Spain coming up, there's every chance he could perform well enough to earn him a deal elsewhere in Europe.

Fulham in talks to sign Jordan Ayew from Swansea

Fulham are in talks to sign striker Jordan Ayew from Swansea, Sky Sports News understands.

Sky Sports News have been told the Cottagers have made a bid in the region of £8m for Ghana international Ayew who was Swansea's top scorer last season with 11, including seven in the Premier League.

Ayew has been linked with several clubs since Swansea were relegated and joins the likes of goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski and defender Alfie Mawson who look likely to leave South Wales.

Ayew joined Swansea from Aston Villa in January 2017 and played alongside his older brother Andre.

Ayew's 11 goals couldn't prevent the Swans going down under Carlos Carvalhal but — along with Lukasz Fabianski and Alfie Mawson, also linked with moves elsewhere — he was one of a few players to emerge with credit.

Fulham are looking to sign a striker with Aleksandr Mitrovic's future unclear.

The Serbian striker led the line for Slavisa Jokanovic's side during their run to play-off glory in the Championship last season, on loan from Newcastle.

New Swansea boss Graham Potter could be inclined to let Ayew leave as he oversees a major squad overhaul following Premier League relegation.

Report: Fulham must shatter transfer record to sign Calum Chambers from Arsenal

Arsenal won't let Calum Chamers leave on the cheap with Premier League newcomers Fulham reportedly interested.

With Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Caglar Soyuncu heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, Calum Chambers looks set to tumble ever further down the pecking order at the Emirates.

The 23-year-old defender has found opportunities increasingly hard to come by during his four years in North London and started just 10 Premier League games last season after spending the 2016/17 campaign on loan at Middlesbrough.

Sky Sports claimed on Tuesday that Fulham have renewed their interest in Chambers, who they tried to sign last summer, and looked to have a far better chance this time around after sealing a long-awaited return to the Premier League.

But in new reports provided by The Times, Fulham's hopes might be over already.

It is understood that Arsenal will demand at least £22 million for the England U21 international. If this does not put him out of Fulham's price range, surely the Cottagers should come to the conclusion that equally talented players could be found in the market for a much lower fee.

Arsenal priced Chambers out of a move away from North London last summer, demanding £27 million for the former Southampton youngster amid interest from Crystal Palace. And history might be repeating itself this time around.

Chambers is renowned for his versatility and can also play at right-back. But, with Arsenal signing Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus, it appears that every route into the first-team is being blocked off.

Newcastle United and Fulham join race for Sevilla-bound Roque Mesa — reports

The Premier League pair have allegedly shown late interest in the midfielder

Newcastle United and Fulham could yet make a last ditch attempt to bring Roque Mesa back to the Premier League — but are very unlikely to succeed.

Spanish outlet Sevilla ABC claims that both sides have shown late interest in the midfielder, with Mesa sharing the same agent as Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic.

Villarreal have also reportedly made enquiries, but the player's representative, Luis Alonso has insisted that the 29-year-old has his heart set on an extended stay in Spain and permanent move to Sevilla, where he recently spent a six-month loan spell

Roque Mesa training with Sevilla

He said: "There is someone in the Premier (League) who knows him well.

"There are European coaches, from Serbia, who know what they can give.

"Roque only wants to hear about Sevilla.

"Already decided.

"We are waiting for everything to close, but we will have to wait until it is signed.

"Sevilla has also told us that he wants us to stay and we are here.

"When two love each other there are no problems."

Mesa is the second player to be linked with the newly-promoted Cottagers, who are also believed to be keen on snapping up Jordan Ayew.

The diminutive Spaniard joined Swansea for £11million last summer but things have not worked out in SA1 and he is expected to depart imminently.

Premier League side launch £8m raid for Swansea City ace

Newly-promoted Fulham are hoping to take Swansea City striker Jordan Ayew to the Premier League with them, according to Sky Sports News.

Slavisa Jokanovic is keen to bolster his options ahead of their Premier League campaign and Ayew has been identified as a target.

Fulham are in talks to sign the Ghana international and have made a bid of £8m for his services.

Ayew topped the scoring charts at Swansea last season, netting 11 goals in all competitions and seven in the league but he could not prevent their relegation to the Championship.

Just as he did six months after Aston Villa dropped to the second tier, Ayew could now make a move back to the Premier League again with interest expected.

Fulham are hoping to strengthen their attack after Aleksandar Mitrovic's loan spell expired and a deal is yet to be struck with Newcastle United while the physical Serbia international represents his country at the World Cup.

Swansea face a battle to keep a number of their top players ahead of their Championship campaign, with Lukasz Fabianski and Alfie Mawson both lined up by West Ham United.

Ayew could be another player heading for the exit as the Cottagers eye a £8m swoop.

The Verdict

£8m is not a bad price to receive for Ayew and Swansea might be tempted to accept this.

It would arm them with extra funds to strengthen their side with players to get them back out of this division.

While the 26-year-old offers a decent outlet up front, he is not irreplaceable and the Swans should cash in at this price.

Tottenham dealt blow over Sessegnon pursuit

Tottenham will have to forget signing Fulham teen sensation Ryan Sessegnon for another season as the versatile left-flanker is set to remain with the Cottagers, according to The Telegraph.

The report states that following the west London club's promotion into the Premier League they will be keeping hold of the 18-year-old.

Sessegnon blew the Championship away last season, scoring 15 goals and six assists in a campaign where he was ever-present.

The decision to remain with the Cottagers will have come as a massive blow to Spurs who were seemingly in hot pursuit of the left-sided ace had it not come to light that Manchester United had ended their interest in Danny Rose – it now looks as though the 27-year-old will be staying at White Hart Lane.

OPINION:

Sessegnon is a sensational prospect and it will be interesting to see how he gets on in the Premier League playing for Fulham but whether Rose stays or goes, it remains a blow to the Lilywhites as it does not look like they will be getting their target. The Cottagers starlet is younger, brighter and more vivacious than Rose who struggled to get game time last season, making just ten appearances in the entirety of the campaign and has suffered with mental health problems. There is now every chance that the 27-year-old will continue to sit in the shadows in North London if he is not sold on this summer and Spurs should bring in Sessegnon whether Rose remains at the club or not. After such a long spell away from first team action, the England international will undoubtedly be rusty and struggle to keep up with the speed and physicality of the top-flight.

Tim Ream named Fulham Player of the Season

Tim Ream capped off a fantastic year at the club level by being named Fulham's Player of the Season. The American center back was a key part of the side that earned promotion to the Premier League after a third place finish in the Championship and progressing through the play-offs.

Ream earned 61 percent of the fan voting. English starlet Ryan Sessegnon — who scored 15 goals in 46 appearances — finished in second place with 15 percent.

The 30-year old St. Louis native made 44 league appearances this past season. He joined The Cottagers in 2015 after a four-year stint with Bolton Wanderers (with whom he also earned a few Player of the Year Awards).

He also earned effusive praise from the club's media staff.

"The 'American Dream' was for me the team member who most consistently played to the best of their ability throughout the whole season as well as constantly assisting the players around him, despite a number of key personnel changes in the back five," commentator Jim McGullion told Fulham's official website. "His temperament, attitude, discipline, work ethic, courage and desire to be his best were exemplary."

Ream is the third American to be named Fulham's player of the year. Brian McBride won the award following the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 seasons; Clint Dempsey earned similar back-to-back recognition for the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 seasons.

The good news is that Ream is peaking at the right time: a World Cup year.

Unfortunately, there's a sad reality everyone connected to American soccer will have to face for the rest of eternity: the U.S. men's national team didn't make the World Cup.

It's a bitter pill to swallow, but for some players — like Ream — glory at the club level provides some applesauce to make it go down easier.

Lucas Piazon and Tomas Kalas in £8million double deal

Lucas Piazon and Tomas Kalas are set to seal an £8million double deal from Chelsea to Fulham, the Daily Star reports.

The pair both spent last season on loan at Fulham and helped guide the Cottagers to promotion back to the Premier League after their win over Aston Villa in the play-off final.

Now Fulham are set to secure both player's services on permanent deals in an £8million double swoop.

Piazon and Kalas have both failed to make their mark at Stamford Bridge and have been sent out on loan a combined 12 times since being at the London club.

Kalas has earned two first team appearance whilst on the books at Chelsea, with Piazon managing just one senior appearance.

The departure of both Piazon and Kalas will be the first bit of transfer activity for Chelsea this summer, as a host of uncertainty still surrounds manager Antonio Conte.

The Blues remain expected to sack the Italian this summer.

Swansea City reject £8million bid from Fulham for Jordan Ayew

The striker was Swansea's top scorer last season with 11 goals

Swansea City have rejected an £8million bid for striker Jordan Ayew from newly-promoted Fulham.

Reports emerged on Tuesday evening that the Cottagers - who beat Aston Villa in the play-off final to secure their return to the Premier League - were preparing a bid for the 26-year-old, who was Swansea's top scorer last season with 11 goals in all competitions.

But that offer was swiftly dismissed on Wednesday with Swansea feeling the offer comes nowhere near matching the value of a player who excelled during the second half of last season.

It is understood Swansea feel the Ghanaian should command a fee nearer to the £15million mark after being one of a minority of players to emerge with genuine credit from the club's relegation from the top-flight.

He had previously been linked with a £14million move to Celtic or Liverpool this summer .

Jordan Ayew of Swansea is tackled by Aymeric Laporte of Manchester City (Image: Huw Evans Picture Agency)

Swansea are keen to get on with overhauling their squad following the appointment of Graham Potter as manager, and are looking to start to offload some of the bigger names who have indicated a desire to move on so they can begin to bring in new signings for the former Ostersunds boss.

But they will not be bullied into moving players on if the offer is not right.

Potter had said as much at his unveiling on Tuesday.

"We need to assess, any player who leaves has to go on right terms for the club but we don't want players who don't want to be here," he said.

"We have to make balanced decisions, that process has started already, but we want players proud to represent Swansea.

"There will be some money to spend, there are no details today but we need to add to the group and there will be some we move out to create space."

It follows in the wake of Swansea's decision to turn down offers from West Ham for goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski and defender Alfie Mawson.

Discussions are continuing over a deal for Fabianski , but no fee has been agreed between the two parties as yet although the Hammers are understood to be keen to try and press a move through before the 33-year-old's participation at the World Cup in Russia with Poland gets under way.

It is thought a fee in the region of £7million-£8million would be enough to secure the services of the former Arsenal man, who has a year remaining on his contract at the Liberty.

Talks over Mawson are also ongoing, although there are thought to be several other clubs showing interest in the centre-half, who was called up to the senior England squad earlier this year.

The 24-year-old is currently recovering from knee surgery.

Sevilla are keen on midfielder Roque Mesa, whose loan move including an option to buy for a fee of around £7million plus add-ons, and talks are expected to take place over that deal although reports suggest Fulham and Newcastle are also eyeing the former Las Palmas man.

Leeds, meanwhile, are keen on Kyle Bartley. The defender had a successful loan spell at Elland Road during the 2016-17 season and is understood to want a return to Yorkshire.

Swansea reject Fulham's Ayew bid
by Dan on June 13, 2018

Swansea have turned down Fulham's £8m bid for their forward and are believed to be holding out for closer to £16m.

News of Fulham's offer emerged last night but Swansea, who are keen to avoid the impression of a Liberty Stadium fire sale by holding out for the best offers for their key performers, quickly rejected the bid. The Welsh side believe they can attract offers worth double what the Whites were willing to pay for the Ghana international, who led Swansea's scoring charts with eleven goals last season.

Ayew certainly won't be short of suitors over the summer having been heavily linked with a move to Celtic or Liverpool after finishing the season strongly. New Swansea head coach Graham Potter, recruited from Ostersunds earlier this month, will have the final say about all transfer decisions. Fulham are keen to add to their attacking options – but it remains to be seen whether the Whites will be willing to up their offer for Ayew or move on to other targets.

Fulham hoping to sign Chelsea duo Kalas and Piazon

Chelsea duo Lucas Piazon and Tomas Kalas are close to joining Fulham this summer.

The Cottagers have secured promotion to the Premier League via play-offs and they are now looking to complete the double deal.

Piazon and Kalas were on loan at Fulham last season and clearly, they have managed to impress Slavisa Jokanovic during their time at the club.

As per the reports, Fulham will pay a combined fee of around £8m for both players.

In this market, that could prove to be a massive bargain for the Fulham. Even if Kalas and Piazon fail to fulfil their potential, they will be useful squad players for the Londoners.

The Chelsea duo are unlikely to get a chance at Stamford Bridge in the near future and therefore a move to Fulham makes a lot of sense.

They need to play regularly at this stage of their career and Fulham will be able to provide them with that platform.

Jokanovic will want his side to impress in the Premier League next season and Fulham will need to add some depth to their side in order to compete at the top level. Signings like these will certainly help them fight for a respectable finish next season.

Everton and Fulham interested in 21-year-old defender, as PL competition makes first move

While West Ham have made the first move to try and take Issa Diop away from Toulouse, they aren't the only Premier League clubs interested in the 21-year-old's services.

Already the Ligue 1 side's captain at such a young age, the youngster is widely regarded as one of the more talented young centre-backs in France, and it's been reported in the past he's 'aware' he needs to leave to further his career.

According to L'Equipe on Wednesday in the same article reporting West Ham's €15-20m bid, Everton, Fulham and RB Leipzig are also interested in Diop for the coming season.

Toulouse haven't responded to the Hammers as of yet, perhaps hoping for a bidding war if the Toffees and the Cottagers get involved at some point in the near future.

With Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka closer to retirement than not, Everton are only really left with Michael Keane as a long-term option in the centre of defence, hence Marco Silva's potential interest in Diop.

As for Fulham, the newly promoted club only have Marcelo Djaló and Tim Ream to count on so far for a tough Premier League season, having rid themselves of Richard Stearman, Michael Madl and Cameron Sturgess over the past six months.

Therefore, it isn't surprising to see Slavisa Jokanovic keen on bolstering his defence this summer, and bringing in someone like Issa Diop, full of experience but still very young, would make a lot of sense.

It would cost either club a pretty penny, judging by West Ham's bid, but it most certainly would be worth it.

Fulham should repeat Stefan Johansen success by bringing in Stuart Armstrong

The Scottish midfielder is set to leave Celtic this summer.

It looks as though Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong could be on his way out of the club this summer. The Scottish Sun recently reported that Armstrong was on his way out of Parkhead this summer, as his contract enters its final year. Crystal Palace and Brighton are both said to be interested in the player, whose first-team place at Celtic was impacted by his contract situation last season and the emergence of Callum McGregor.

Now it seems that Armstrong is on his way out and newly promoted Fulham should be keeping tabs.

The midfielder finds himself in a remarkably similar position to the one current Fulham star Stefan Johansen found himself in 2016. His contract entering its final year, Celtic decided to cash in rather than lose him for free. That move has certainly paid off. The Norwegian has become a regular at Craven Cottage and helped them win promotion to the Premier League last season.

Armstrong is just as good a, if not a better, option than Johansen and would add some much-needed depth to the Fulham squad ahead of the new season.

His fee would seemingly not be overly expensive and with former team-mate Johansen at the club, settling in will be made slightly easier.

Fulham need to make sure they spend wisely in the transfer market ahead of their return to the Premier League. Johansen proved such a shrewd move two years ago. Armstrong would be similarly sharp.

Fulham persisting with move to sign Jordan Ayew despite having £8million bid rejected for Swansea striker

Fulham had initial bid of £8million rejected for Swansea forward Jordan Ayew
Swansea are understood to be holding out for around £13million for Ayew
West Ham will have to pay around £8million to sign goalkeeper Lukas Fabianski

Fulham are persisting with a move to sign Jordan Ayew after having an £8m bid for the Swansea forward rejected.

Swansea paid Aston Villa around £5m plus Neil Taylor for the Ghanaian in January 2017 and expect to lose him following relegation.

Sportsmail understands they will hold out for around £13m for the 26-year-old, who scored 11 goals in all competitions last season.

Fulham preparing second offer for Ayew
by Dan on June 13, 2018

Fulham are preparing a second offer for Jordan Ayew after having their first bid rejected by Swansea, according to a Daily Mail report this evening.

Swansea turned down Fulham's initial approach, reported to be around £8m, and the Mail suggests that the Welsh side will entertain offers in the region of £13m for the Ghana international. The 26 year-old forward is widely expected to leave the Liberty Stadium after relegation but Swansea are determined to hold out for the best possible offer for Ayew, who topped the club's goalscoring charts with eleven goals last season.

Fulham are on the hunt for reinforcements across all areas of their squad as they prepare for their first Premier League season in four years and, with uncertainty over whether the Whites will be able to reach a deal with Newcastle for the permanent transfer of Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, Slavisa Jokanovic will want further options in the final third. Ayew's versatility – which means he could fill any one of the front three positions in Jokanovic's fluid 4-3-3 system – might well be a major plus point.

Fulham On The Move To Sign This Swansea City Forward: Right Man For Slavisa Jokanovic's Plan?

According to latest reports, Fulham have made a bid for Swansea City striker Jordan Ayew. The bid is said to be £8m and it remains to be seen what will the response be from the Welsh outfit. The Swans got relegated to the Championship as they finished on the 18th spot.

Ayew made 44 appearances in all competitions last season and managed 11 goals. A lot more was expected out of him as he failed to deliver consistently for the Swans. Ayew was signed from Aston Villa in 2017 January transfer window and was expected to play a big part in their Premier League campaign. However, his performances left a lot to be desired.

Fulham, on the other hand, are currently in dreamland as they won the playoff finals defeating Aston Villa and Slavisa Jokanovic side have gone on to secure a berth in the English top division. The Serbian mastermind will be aware that he will need to improve his team in a lot of fronts as the Premier League will be the real test of his managerial abilities and for the players as well.

Fulham are also in the market to sign Newcastle United's striker Aleksandr Mitrovic who impressed on loan and the Serbian international will certainly be in Jokanovic's plans. The Cottagers have also got the likes of Rui Fonte and Aboubakar Kamara who can play in the striker's role.

However, Ayew is a versatile forward and it might very well happen that Jokanovic might use him down the left or right wing.

The ball is currently in Swansea's court as according to reports, the Cottagers have made a bid for the striker and it remains to be seen whether they will be will to sell him for below the £10m mark. They signed him from Villa for£ 5m and the deal also involved Neil Taylor moving to Villa Park.

The Swans recently appointed Graham Potter as their new manager and it remains to be seen whether he will let go of the Ghanian international. Even Tammy Abraham is being linked with a move away from the club and the former Ostersunds manager can't certainly lose both of them in the same transfer window. Fulham will be delighted to have him as he has got a good amount of Premier League experience and will bring in more competitions for places and maybe in a new setup, he might be able to take his game a notch higher.

Struggling Arsenal Defender Now Wanted By Fulham: Why This Move Makes Sense For All Involved

Having missed out on Champions League football yet again, Arsenal are now in a summer transfer window, that can affect their long-term future. They have already replaced Arsene Wenger with Unai Emery and are close to making a couple of new signing this summer, but they will have to also resolve the futures of unsettled stars at the club and one such player, who is now wanted elsewhere is Calum Chambers.

Having joined Arsenal from Southampton back in 2014, Chambers failed to impress Arsene Wenger and to break into the first team and made just 10 league starts last season. He has been regularly used in the cup competitions but has been constantly linked with an exit, since the start of the previous season.

Newly promoted club Fulham were interested in his services last summer and have him at the top of their wish list this summer as well. They believe that his experience in the top flight can help them next season and reports claim that the Cottagers are ready to make a move for the 23-year old in the upcoming days. So can Arsenal afford to lose him?

Having also broken into the English national side a couple of years ago, Chambers remains one of the most gifted defenders in the country at the moment. He is strong, athletic and quick while his positioning and technique make him a confident defender. He is comfortable with the ball at his feet, can help with build-up play but is equally adept at cutting out passes in and around his box.

He may not be the strongest in the air but his ability to read the game and throw himself around for his side makes him an effective defender. He is adept at playing no-nonsense football when needed and is a vocal presence at the back, all of which surely attracted Fulham. At just 23, he is yet to play a full-fledged Premier League season as a first-team star, and with the opportunity to do so at Craven Cottage, he will certainly be ready to jump ship.

But Arsenal should not have too many issues, except losing his potential. They have Rob Holding and Kostas Mavropanos as the understudies while Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi remain first team options. Sokratis Papastathopoulos is also expected to join the club this summer and will cover for the French international's injury, leaving no place for Chambers.

So it might be best for all parties if Fulham are indeed able to land the 23-year old this summer.
