"Neenin Standud?"

Still can't quite believe that we have made it & are back

Johnny H must be smiling down on us!

Hands on hips & a scowl @ anyone who doesn't collect his pin point pass & score from of course!

By the time we got back to Wimbledon station we could buy a Classie with all the results in it and, unless there had been some late drama, a half-way decent report of the match we had just watched.
Of course this didn't apply in the winter until 1962, because until we got floodlights we had to kick-off at 2.15.
Two seasons in the top tier without floodlights!

Until 1960 London could offer 3 evening papers, all of whom pubished a Saturday classified.
'STARNEWSTANDARD!!' was the cry of the newspaper sellers.

Checked the statue after the Derby match.  Looks quietly pleased but was certainly not overdoing it.

Yes, 1959 and 2001 promotions to the top league were great and so was our first step up out of the 2nd division in 1949 .

We had a team of great players but the clinching factor must have been the December signing of Arthur Rowley, a big heavy centre forward who packed one hell of a shot. Arthur scored some 19 goals for us in the second half of that promotion season.
We have waited a long time for Mitrovic to come along and repeat what Artur did all those years ago.
