It was a very good performance for the first thirty minutes, and then 60 mins of dullness, and then 3 minutes of Goodness.

Overall a good result for England, they can take positives from the first thirty minutes, I think Rashford looked good when he come on and should start ahead of Sterling. The last minute winner for England is very unusual and two goals for our striker and captain is great to see.

Negatives though, Lindegarrds finishing, blooming Eck.
Have to agree with comment about Sterling who I find is no where his best in an England shirt. Rashford and Loftus Cheek both showed they are good players and cantake the pressure. How tall is Lofty Cheek, he has sprung up since I saw him in the U18 final we played against Chelsea.

first game always difficult and we came out all guns blazing.
If we would have taken our chances it would have been 3 or 4 nil.
after the equaliser tunisia changedย  formation a bit, they sat deeper and compressed the space england had to play in and in the heat I think england struggled to tempt tunisia out. rose for young would be an obvious change and of course sterling again failed to impress in a style to which he is clerarly not suited. I also think deli is a complete waste of space far too often and seems to love himself more than the team. A spell on the bench will improve him and help bring out more effort to match his talent that is currently wasted.

panama will be harder than anyone is saying but hopefully we will win it well.

And just to keep it in proportion, france were no great shakes and brazil and germany would surely swap our last minute winner for their lamentable efforts. Dio not read too much into this one game, a win is a win and IMO it was a good win, even with an uninspiring second half, probably keeps peoples feet on the ground. i remain optimistic, the real test will be belgium, but that may end up a carve up if both already have 6 points.

I thought we played well, with the exception of that spell immediately after the penalty when we lost our rhythm.

We were by far the better team, and had Lingaard and Sterling buried the chances they had in the first half and if the ref had spotted the repeat muggings that Kane was subjected to we would have been raving about a good win.

I watched the match in the Adam & Eve in Fitzrovia and the atmosphere was top. I forgot how much fun it is watching England in a decent boozer with a few Guinnesses along the way!

Perhaps the VAR panel was made up of Scottish, Welsh & Irish officials!

That would not surprise me at all.

I like what you've said toshes mate, but I'm sure you along with me wonder why with such compelling evidence are these VAR specialist not accountable. It s almost like Sep blatter himself, they think or even know they are not answerable to anyone.

Goals will need to come from more than just Kane if England is to go further than the last eight and likely sources are hard to identify.

I'm not English so I'm neutral here and you fully deserved that victory. You were the better team BY FAR and should have had two penalties. What's the point of VAR if the ref can overrule it or choose to ignore it? Absolutely ridiculous! Same thing with Egypt yesterday, should have had a penalty but the ref ignored VAR.

Best of luck with the rest of the world cup! :54:

I did not say that England did not deserve to win but that they were lucky to get the winner in added time.

What's lucky about scoring in extra time, it's no luckier than scoring in the first minute, or the 45th or 46th, what's the difference.
Both teams have the opportunity to score goals in the allotted 90 minutes + added time. The first 90 minutes + added time are the most important.
What it showed was that England never gave up.
Taking into account that Tunisia got one of the softest penalty's you are ever likely to see, and goals do change games.
Plus England were denied two Stonewall penalties, which showed what a load of Cobblers VAR is. What more do you want, blood.
Tunisia were the lucky ones.
I think at the moment Swan you are bottom of the class.

VAR totally discredited after that hopeless officiating effort. Either the ref and VAR officials were completely inept or they were as bent as five bob notes. Sorry it has to be said that would have been unacceptable at amateur level, for a World Cup? Words fail me.

This is the same incompetent Colombian ref. who previously sent off the wrong player.

I am sure that same referee officiated my Sunday morning team last season. I think we gave him 10 out of a 100 for turning up.

Another issue with VAR:

Can someone please explain to me: How will anyone EVER get a yellow for diving inside the box with VAR?

I mean, the refs in the world cup are adviced to play on and let the VAR team make the decision if they're not 100% certain about a potential penalty situation. But VAR isn't authorized to deal with yellows, only with major incidents like red cards, penalties, goals. So if there's an incident inside the box, and the ref leaves the decision to the VAR team, play will just go on if it turned out to be a dive, right??? Because the VAR team is not "authorized" to deal with that kind of "minor" incidents. They are only authorized to give their advice on penalty/not penalty, not if it's a dive or not. So no yellow will EVER be given for diving whenever the ref leaves the desision to VAR.

Once the decision is left to the VAR team there are only two possible outcomes: 1) Penalty or 2) No reaction whatsoever.

It seems to me that VAR will benefit the cheats.

That's because it's run by FIFA, they all didn't just fall off the back of a lorry, some of them were pushed.

Neymar a couple of minutes ago vs Costa Rica just proved my point. The worst dive you will ever see. After consulting with VAR no penalty was given but no yellow was given for diving either. Absolutely shocking.

It's brasil, what do you expect. It's like the prem, certain teams are refereed completely differently from others. that is to say the perceived big teams get away with murder and the others are punished for almost nothing. i still believe that when rivaldo (i think it was him in the infamous turkey game) was not sent home football was clearly shown to be 100% morally corupt.

Neymar is loathsome for a whole host of reasons but his dive was a red card offence, he is an offence just being on the pitch. Ramos and Pepe are also disgraceful, just saying.

England,we deserved the win.in fact I thought I was watching any top nation! Not England, but it was England. But it is England they score, but kept going and there he was Kane with a great header and like Fulham England and Kane score late.
Kept believing and didn't give up.

Speaking of VAR, not a peep when Mitro was hauled down in the box by not one but two Swiss players. A very clear penalty but totally ignored.
