Does then mean it's going to be a huge break for football in the U.K. or will it be like rugby where teams have to carrry on and use the squad they have?

Sgt Fulham

Ah that well known footballing nation.

fifa will force us to break. No doubt give a rest period after as well which will mean no games over the Xmas period

Hopefully all the alleged "bribing" will be revealed and FIFA will be forced to relocate to a deserving and more realistic football nation - that doesn't employ slave labour to build its stadia

Lyle from Hangeland

Stupidest and most corrupt FIFA event ever.

F(f)CUK

Qatar has one city and a few settlements. Hope if England qualify that they play their games in Doha.

Qatar does not employ the labour. the companies who build the stadiums employ the labour - the majority of these companies are well known European and American construction companies e.g the British company Balfour Beatty

Exactly, and its those same companies that take advantage of the lax labour laws, so both they and the country have the liability.

Who gives the contracts to the companies?

And who accepts the contracts and the fee earned from the contracts? And who directly employs the workers, sets their work hours and decides and pays their wages.

The answer to all these questions is the private construction companies.

Surely the Qatari government hires the construction companies to build these stadiums? The Qataris would have had a bidding process and accepted  the bids and obviously looked to keep costs down to save money to do this the companies use cheap labour. They are all in it together.

F(f)CUK

It is widely accepted that virtual slave labour is prominent across the Middle East. This ideology does not concern the governments out there.

Baszab

Most of the Middle Eastern slave labour is Pakistani, Bangladeshi or Palestinian - but this doesn't seem to concern the UNHRC or  the snowflakes of the Western World

Shocking. This is almost a year old and around 1,200 had died. Think it said the next most number of deaths was around 60. From when this was written there were 5 years until the World Cup. Horrible to think of how high the numbers could get. Fifa, the Qatari government and the construction companies should be ashamed
