If he has shame on him, on the other hand would you want to play with our current group of clowns?

The first thing he should do is meet the challenge of attempting to keep our first clean sheet.
Can achieve that quicker if he stops playing square pegs in round holes, as well as to stop tinkering every week with the defence.
For every ladder he moves up, he goes back down two snakes.
Back to square one, what worries me is there appears to be no progress, no improvement in any shape or form as each week goes by, no evidence of the team setting down as a unit with any confidence whatsoever.

.

Most sensible post I have read so far.
Watching the ups and downs since 1958, wouldn't have it any other way, what a roller coaster of a club.

You do wonder if there is a crisis of confidence with TC. If the injury has healed maybe the pain is psychological and he doesn't have the faith in himself to perform and is looking for excuses.

But what is square 1? Not having your defender and keeper double slice the ball like the U-10 squad from the worst team in the Isthmian league south?

Yes, in the absence of any other explanation, it does appear that is Square One.

Maybe he should watch the Invictus Games this week and watch all those brave men and women overcoming far greater obstacles than he is ever likely to face, all through grit, desire and passion.

Lots of motivational Instagram posts by MacDonald, Schurrle etc... but not a sausage from Cairney. No "can't wait to get back on the pitch and help turn this around" etc etc... just silence from our captain.

This is a ridiculous thread but yeah, I would like to have heard more from him. It's part of the captain's job
I was there, standing in the Putney end

Nero

yes but none of the keepers could catch it

It's beginning to smell like something is wrong amongst the players / with the manager
There is no excuse for some of their appalling play over the last few weeks

McDonald is the true captain of the team.

I agree he is, but he needs runners and busy players around him. Box to box players.

This is a ridiculous thread...

you got that right.

Heaven forbid the guy is legitimately having injury/pain troubles whilst rejoicing in the news that he is going to be a father and doesnt have time to post a stock picture on social media with some stereotypical "110%, fight for the cause" tag line.

We have far far bigger worries

Personally I do think the social media point is significant. I follow most of the players' personal accounts and it gives a lot of really good insight into how they socialise and interact with the rest of the squad, and their general approach to their career, training etc. It's far more candid than the meaningless scripted stuff on the offal, completely different.

Some of the players, eg Mitro, have always been inactive on social media, but Cairney has historically been very active, posting lots of great, positive stuff from the changing rooms and training ground, out socialising with the other players, injury recovery updates, thoughts on good/bad performances etc. You can see why, despite not being the "hardest" character, he still might make a decent captain. But lately, except for the pregnancy announcement he's gone missing from social media as well as the pitch, and I do think you can potentially read something into that.

There are generally much fewer signs on the players' social media of the squad integrating/caring so far this season.

It's because of our results - makes them more vulnerable to abuse. I'm sure the players get education about their use of social media these days.

It's obviously easier to talk about socialising with other players when you're doing well. Now some would probably tweet replies  saying 'why are you lot out drinking, when you should be concentrating on  improving your performances?'

Also, Carney is injured, and there seems a problem with sorting it out - so what is he supposed to say about his recovery. If he talks about going out socialising, some would probably say 'how can you go out when you're supposed to be injured?'
