Claudio Ranieri and Fulham chase Leicester City's Christian Fuchs - reports

The Austrian full-back is set to leave City at the end of the season

Christian Fuchs has been linked with a reunion with former Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri at Fulham.

Sky Sports claim the Italian wants the Austrian defender to bolster his side's attempts to escape relegation to the Championship.

Ranieri is looking to strengthen his squad after a disappointing first half of the season after their promotion to the top flight and wants to add more experience to his squad.

Danny Simpson has previously been linked with Fulham as well and City's astonishing march to the Premier League title under Ranieri really got going when Ranieri brought in both full-backs to shore up his defence.

Fuchs has also been linked with a move to Aston Villa, who are pushing for promotion.

Any move would only be a temporary one as the 32-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and intends to move to the United States, where his family live, to play in the MLS or even become a kicker in the NFL.

Fuchs has been overtaken by Ben Chilwell as Claude Puel's first choice left-back.

Fulham signing this Croatian speed demon would be an outstanding move by Ranieri

Why Fulham signing Marko Pjaca on loan would be a massive coup

According to a report from Calciomercato, Fulham are one of the few clubs interested in signing Croatian star Marko Pjaca on loan from Juventus in January.

Marko Pjaca, 23, is currently on loan at Serie A club Fiorentina but they want to terminate the loan agreement as soon as possible to send the player back to Turin. However, Juventus are not keen to keep Marko Pjaca either, which has alerted the likes of Fulham, Cagliari and AC Milan.

A product of Croatian club Lokomotiva, Marko Pjaca played for his boyhood club and Dinamo Zagreb before completing a move to Juventus in 2016. The 23-year-old attacker, however, endured two back-to-back serious injuries in his debut season at Turin.

He returned from a long-term ACL injury in January 2018 and was loaned to Schalke for the rest of the season.

Not to forget, Pjaca was also a part of the Croatian squad that finished as runners-up at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. With the Croat expected to return to Juventus, Fulham must beat the likes of Cagliari and AC Milan to secure his signature on loan until the end of the season.

Fulham, fighting tooth and nail to stay in the Premier League, could do with some extra attacking firepower for the second half of the season, as too many of their attackers have been inconsistent. The likes of Andre Schurrle and Luciano Vietto were expected to take the Premier League by storm but the duo has been highly inconsistent.

That has seen the Cottagers lack a bit of cutting edge since the appointment of Claudio Ranieri in November and Pjaca could be the ideal player to bring some creativity and flair to their attack. Standing at 6ft 1in, Pjaca is a left winger by trade but is known for his versatility to play in multiple positions in the attacking third.

He is a skilful winger who has good pace, dribbling skills and the ability to create openings for his teammates. The 23-year-old never shies away from taking on defenders, beating them with his pace and trickery before having a crack at goal.

Known for his direct and offensive style of play, the technically-gifted Croatian would be an asset for Fulham as he can combine brilliantly with the likes of Aleksandar Mitrovic, Andre Schurrle and Jean Michael Seri in the final third.

Ranieri desperately needs a player who can ease the goalscoring burden off Mitrovic's shoulders and Pjaca fits the bill perfectly at Craven Cottage. All in all, the Croatia international would be a very appealing addition for Ranieri's Fulham.

That said, Fulham should quickly take Pjaca on loan and they would have some player on their hand if Ranieri can get him back on track.

Fulham in talks to sign Bordeaux's Youssouf Sabaly

Fulham are in talks to sign Bordeaux right-back Youssouf Sabaly, according to Sky sources.

The 25-year-old Senegal international was close to joining Napoli in the summer.

Sabaly, who played at the 2018 World Cup, can also play at left-back but has struggled for games at Bordeaux this season.

He has made just seven Ligue 1 appearances and four in the Europa League.

Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri admitted last week that on-loan right-back Timothy Fosu-Mensah is free to return to Manchester United after struggling to make an impact at Craven Cottage.

Two Premier League clubs who should sign this £17m Tottenham flop this month including Fulham

Two Premier League clubs who should sign Tottenham flop Vincent Janssen

Vincent Janssen was signed from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in the summer window of 2016 with massive expectations placed on his shoulders, courtesy of the Spurs faithful. He had an extremely successful spell with the Dutch side where he made a total of 49 appearances and scored 32 goals in the process.

He signed for Tottenham in a £17m deal as a backup striker to challenge English star Harry Kane for the regular starting role. As Heung-Min Son is often preferred if Kane is unavailable, it's quite clear that he has failed to nail down a place.

He has only made 39 appearances for Tottenham in his two and a half years, scoring just 6 goals in the process.

While some fans might argue that he wasn't able to prove himself because he was only given time off the bench, he started 6 times during his first season and did nothing to show himself in an overly positive light.

This could be the right time for Spurs to offload the striker and they certainly are considering it, according to reports from Daily Mail. Let's look at two Premier League clubs who could use the talented Dutchman most effectively.

Cardiff City

Any side that has had to resort to playing a central midfielder in the central striker's position could use the services of a proven goalscoring striker. They have scored just a total of 19 goals in their 21 Premier League games so far this term.

They currently sit two points above the relegation zone at 17th place but that is largely down to the poor performances by teams below them.

If Cardiff are looking to save themselves from relegation early and avoid the chaos at the end, then they urgently need an out and out striker who can produce the goods on a regular basis. They need to look no further than Tottenham.

Fulham FC

Fulham, at the start of this season, made Aleksandar Mitrovic's loan move permanent and that has paid off to a certain extent. While Mitrovic has been scoring at a decent pace, goals from the wingers and other midfield players seem to have dried up.

Having scored just 19 goals in 21 games, Vincent Janssen could be the perfect player to bring in for Claudio Ranieri to try a different approach with his Fulham side. The possibility of Janssen and Mitrovic partnering up as a duo up front could be fruitful for the London side.

Victor Moses nears Chelsea exit as London rivals are installed as odds-on favourites to sign him

Victor Moses is being heavily backed for a switch to Chelsea's west London rivals

Chelsea winger Victor Moses could be set to swap one west London club for another, according to bookmakers.

Moses has been heavily linked with a move away from the club, having found his opportunities limited under Maurizio Sarri so far this season, with just six appearances in all competitions.

Sarri has already stated that the Nigerian does not fit into his system, and with the writing on the wall for his Chelsea career, bookmakers are offering odds of 1/5 that he will leave Stamford Bridge this month.

But he may not be moving too far, according to bookmakers Sky Bet.

They have Chelsea's west London rivals Fulham as his most likely destination, with the Whites currently odds-on to sign the 28-year-old this month.

Sky Bet are offering odds of 8/11 that he will soon join former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri at Craven Cottage as the Italian looks to try and guide the Whites to Premier League survival, after a torrid first half of the season.

And plenty of Fulham fans responding to our recent transfer survey have named Moses as one of the players they would like to see join in the January transfer window.

Moses has also been linked with a return to Crystal Palace this month, and several Eagles supporters have also named the Chelsea man as one of their preferred signings this month.

But Palace are currently 8/1 in the betting market to re-sign Moses, who started his career in south London, prior to joining Wigan Athletic in 2010.

It is 4/1 for Moses to join any Chinese Super League club, with Premier League trio Cardiff City, West Ham and Brighton seen as outsiders, priced at 12/1, 25/1 and 33/1 respectively.

Fulham need experienced signings to avoid the drop, says Ranieri

(Reuters) - Fulham are looking to sign experienced "leaders" during the January transfer window to help the struggling club retain their Premier League status, manager Claudio Ranieri said.

The west London club splurged over 100 million pounds on new players in the close season but have failed to click as a team and sit 19th in the league with 14 points from 21 games.

Italian Ranieri, who took charge in November after Fulham sacked Slavisa Jokanovic, said the promoted club needed to invest further to stay up.

"I think we have to sign somebody to survive," the former Leicester City manager told reporters. "It would also be a good boost for all my players.

"We have a very good team, but without experience. We need somebody who has experience, a leader with good character, that's his personality, then we can improve."

Fulham, who were knocked out of the FA Cup by League Two club (fourth tier) Oldham Athletic last Sunday, face a crunch match in the league against 16th-placed Burnley on Saturday.

"I'm positive because I believe in this team and this club," Ranieri said.

"But also Burnley think, 'if we kill Fulham we go up'. And for this reason, I think it's a crucial match. Believe me, at the moment I never look at the table because I know where we are, staying under water and I want to go up."

Alfie Mawson's injury uncertainty underscores Fulham's need to sign Gary Cahill

In Claudio Ranieri's pre-match press conference, the Fulham manager declined to give an update on the fitness of Alfie Mawson ahead of the Burnley match.

The uncertainty surrounding the defender's fitness shows the Whites need to buy Gary Cahill and strengthen their central defensive options in January.

Mawson mysteriously was substituted during halftime of Fulham's match against Huddersfield Town back on 29 December.

Replaced by Maxime le Marchand, it surfaced after the game that Mawson had suffered a knee injury — a worrying sign considering Mawson's injury history.

Yet more than a week and a half after the match, Ranieri still refused to set a timeline for Mawson's recovery.

"Mawson is being assessed – there's no prognosis yet," Ranieri said in comments reported by football.london.

As Fulham remain in the dark over Mawson's injury, it reveals how desperately the Whites need reinforcements in the transfer window.

Chelsea centre-half Gary Cahill has been heavily linked with the Whites all January, with the 33-year-old representing an experienced presence that would slot in perfectly as one of Fulham's three centre-backs.

Even before Mawson's injury, Fulham required significant investment to improve their defence, yet the increasing uncertainty surrounding Mawson's arrival underscores the need for the Whites to sign Cahill.
