Games for Mid-week 03/05

We’re on our travels again, this time we visit Anfield for the rearranged fixture

Liverpool v Fulham

Yet another spirited performance with no points for our effort, it would appear that we were wearing the wrong colours as white shirts = “not a penalty” for a couple of clear cut occasions?
Loosing both Ream and Pereira, with suspected broken arm and leg respectively, was a blow, both for the game and remainder of the season. Marco said that Tim will be unavailable for the remainder of the season and Pereira will need to be assessed, if he has broken or fractured his leg then he’ll obviously also miss the remaining games.
When Tom came on he, once again, showed that he can make a significant difference, Marco has improved Tom’s game although we’ve only seen brief appearances this season, I think he’ll get a couple of starts for the remaining games.
Vinicius had probably is best game for us, what a cracking goal he scored, hopefully he can do the same against Liverpool.
Another “plus” was how well Diop and Tosin played together, assuming both are fit and stay, this partnership could be our new “Thames Barrier”.

Current Form:
Liverpool – DWWWW
Fulham – WWLLL

Our record against Liverpool isn’t as good as I thought with 4 wins, 9 losses and 3 draws.

With Willian, Ream, Pereira and Mitro unavailable my team would be…

team to face Liverpool

Games for mid-week 11/01

We’re making the short trip to play Reading at the renamed “Madejski” now the “Select Car Leasing Stadium”

Reading v Fulham

It was a shame that we missed out on the game however, due to COVID (yeah right) and injuries to the Reading team, we’ve now got a chance to get our own back against Reading for the defeat earlier in the season.

@WalkAndTalkMMH had organised a walk from Craven Cottage to Reading, thankfully they weren’t affected by either COVID or injuries and walked through the night anyway, such a shame their efforts couldn’t be rewarded with a game to watch at the end of their walk!

After having 3 games cancelled we now find ourselves 4 points behind Bournemouth, hopefully this game will allow us to claw 3 points back.

After a rather lacklustre performance against Bristol City in the cup, still at least we won, we did look better once more of the “first” team came on in the 2nd half. Hopefully that return to winning ways will be just the spark we need to reignite our league campaign.

Our record against Reading is remarkably even with 7 wins and losses and 4 draws

Current league form:
Reading LWDLP
Fulham DDDLP

With Seri off this would be my team, once again assuming that everyone is fit…

Games for the Weekend 08/01

It’s the FA Cup this weekend and we get to travel to Ashton Gate to take on Bristol City

This is our first game in what seems like forever, Birmingham, Reading and Swansea fixtures all having been cancelled due to COVID.
Marco will have a decision to make about who plays in this game, will he select his “first” team, effectively giving them a warm-up game, or give some of the “2nd string” players a run out?
We need to get back into some sort of form, we were, by our standards, in quite a poor run before the cancelled games, this could be just the game to kick start our 2nd half of the season?

If I was in charge I’d play as close to a full strength squad as I could, my team would be…

Remember it’s a 12:30 kick-off.

Games for the Weekend 04/07

This Saturday’s game we’ll be at home to Birmingham City and have a “normal” kick-off time of 15:00

Fulham v Birmingham City

So after a win against QPR we face a Birmingham City side that have lost their last game, 0-3 to Huddersfield, and drew their first two games after lockdown against Hull, 3-3, and a very creditable 0-0 against West Brom.
We’ll be without Mitro, I don’t think we’ll see him until the Cardiff game, so it’ll be another unusual attacking line-up for us?, we do need to get other players on the score sheet!

Our previous games against Birmingham have been quite even, 6 wins, 5 losses and 4 draws, so if history is anything to go by its going to be a close game.

Games for mid-week 30/06

The games will be coming think and fast now that the Championship is back underway, Tuesday evening see’s us travel the short distance to QPR.

QPR v FULHAM

So after Saturday’s awful performance against Leeds we now take on local rivals QPR at Loftus Road.
This is the 2nd “derby” for QPR in 4 days, they lost 1-0 to Charlton in Saturday’s early kick off, so they’ll be looking for a result against us, and after our last two games they must be hopeful of a good result.

Fulham’s record against QPR is very good, 7 wins, 2 losses and draws. We won the earlier game this season, in November, 2-1 with 2 from AK47, wouldn’t it be nice to see him get a run out sometime soon?

Remember it’s a 18:30 kick-off.

Games of Interest 27/06

This weekend we travel up to Elland Road to take on Leeds at their place.

Leeds United v Fulham

Neither team got the re-start to the season that they would have wanted, both with 2-0 defeats, so they’ll be looking to bounce back this weekend.

Leeds are 7 points ahead, with a +12 goal difference, so it’s still a tough ask for us to catch them.
However, recent history favours Fulham with 3 wins, 1 loss and 5 draws.

Games for the Weekend 20/06

Well footie is finally back, at least games “behind closed doors”, and we kick-off the Championship’s return with a game against Brentford.

Fulham v Brentford

As we’re effectively starting the season again, previous matches and form probably won’t mean a great deal, never the less here’s what I thought about our “last” game…

In other circumstances an away draw at Bristol would have been a good result, especially after going a goal behind, but if we’re aiming for automatic promotion it must be seen as 2 points dropped? Having said that we played well and it looks as if Captain Cairney is back to his best, Tom had his best game in an age, lets hope he continues.

Brentford are scoring goals for fun, 5-0 against Wednesday, they also beat Hull 1-5 earlier in February, our defence will have to be on top of their game for this one.

Brentford are another team who like playing us, they’ve won 5, drawn 3 and only lost 2 against us in recent games. They are currently on 60 points, 4 behind us, so with a win we could stretch that gap to 7 and move ourselves closer to West Brom and Leeds.

Games for Boxing Day

For our post-Christmas game we travel up to Kenilworth Road to play Luton Town.

Luton Town v Fulham

So after an unexpected? result against Leeds we face Luton Town. When “the Hatters” visited Craven Cottage earlier in the season Mitro’ got himself a hat-trick, more of the same would be good. The final score was 3-2, which I think flattered Luton but having said that it was a good game and we can’t afford to go to sleep as we did towards the end of that game.

Luton are struggling a bit, they’ve lost their last 3 games and in November were beaten 7-0 when they played Brentford however, they have won against Wigan and Charlton.

Games for the Weekend 21/12

This weekend we welcome Leeds United to Craven Cottage for a 3 o’clock kick off.

Fulham v Leeds United

After our 3rd defeat in a row we now get to play probably our toughest opponents so far this season!
In some ways our current form could lull Leeds into a false sense? they’ve been outstanding all season and we’re constantly inconstant. If we play to our potential, we have to at some time? and if Leeds are a little overconfident then we will surprise them.

Our recent record against Leeds is interesting, we’ve won 2, lost 1 and drawn 5 so “history” shows that it should be a tight game.

Leeds captain and key defender Liam Cooper could be back in the heart of their defence, Mitro’ will give him a real test and should be an interesting contest between the two of them.

Games for Mid-week 10/12

Yet another evening game, this time we travel to Deepdale to play Preston North End for a 19:45 kick-off.

Preston North End v Fulham

So our winning streak came to end with a home defeat, it had to end some time and in truth we didn’t play well enough, even with poor refereeing decisions, against Bristol City.
Neeskens Kebano, when he came on, showed some nice touches and AK47 changed the game, why didn’t he start? Away to Preston we’ll need to play a lot better and have a better game plan or we’ll get nothing out of the game.
Preston also lost at the weekend, they were away to QPR, so they’ll be looking to get a result against another “London” team. They’ve had a pretty consistent season so far being around or above sixth place, we’ve averaged ninth.
However our record against Preston is a good one, we’ve won four and drawn two.
