Games for mid-week 15/03

We travel to the midlands to take on West Brom at the Hawthorns for another mid-week game

West Brom v Fulham

Once again we’ve lost out to dubious decisions, it was never a penalty, and how Muniz wasn’t awarded one?, that was so bad that Wilson must have been in shock when he missed an open goal!
Harry Wilson’s goal was our 45th away from home, a new club record.
Still a point away from home is always a good point, the unbeaten run continues, on to Tuesdays game, let’s hope we can keep it up.

I’d expected this game to be a top of the table, or close to, clash? unfortunately for the baggies their form took a nose dive that resulted in them getting Steve Bruce as their manager. Their currently sitting in 14th and you can bet that their aim is to get into the play-off’s, can Bruce motivate them to do that, at the moment they need to make up at least 8 points to get ahead of Sheff Utd, with only 10 games of their season left they might have left it too late?

Current Form:
West Brom – LLLWD
Fulham – WWWWD

Our record against West Brom is better than I remember with 6 wins, 2 losses and 7 draws

My team, I’m assuming that Ream will be out…

Games for the Week-end 12/03

We’re off to Oakwell for yet another 12:30 kick-off, this time we take on Barnsley

Barnsley v Fulham

After a fairly dull first half, in truth Swansea looked to have the measure of us until Ryan Manning’s red card. The second half was very different with Mitro scoring after 14 seconds, Cabango’s own goal, Bobby Decordova-Reid coming off the bench to get our 3rd and then Nico Williams scoring his first, for Fulham, and then, probably the best of the bunch, a cracking volley for our fifth.
With Bournemouth dropping points, again, having a game in hand over Huddersfield, and having a ridiculous goal difference, us Fulham fans might soon be in the very unusual position of knowing we’re going to be promoted, and most likely as Champions, the best season since Tigana?

Barnsley aren’t having their best season, their currently in 23rd with -26 goal difference, having said that they’ve recently had a couple of wins against Middlesborough and Hull so we can’t afford to take them lightly. Earlier in the season we beat them at our place 4-1.

Current Form:
Barnsley – LWWLD
Fulham – LWWWW

Our recent record against Barnsley is a good one with 5 wins, 2 losses and 0 draws.

Games for mid-week 08/03

We travel across the Seven Bridge to Swansea for a game under the lights of the Swansea.com stadium.

Swansea v Fulham

Gentleman Jim commented that Mitro’s now in a goal drought, as he didn’t scored in 90 minutes!, lucky for us Kebano and Wilson can make up the slack! All joking aside I can’t remember a Fulham squad being so united, they all appear to want to play for each other, just look at the goal celebrations and how even non playing members get involved.
If Nico Williams shot from the halfway line had gone in he’d have written himself into Fulham folk-law, I wonder what the chances are of keeping him next season?

Swansea are on a little bit of a revival run at the moment, so it’s going to be another tough game. Cyrus Christie won’t be available, he looks as if he’ll stay at Swansea next season and I for one will only wish him the best of luck.

This is our re-arranged game against the Swans, it was originally scheduled for New Years Day.

Current Form:
Swansea – LWLWW
Fulham – WLWWW

Our record against Swansea remarkably even with 5 wins, 5 losses and 1 draw in recent years.

Games for the Weekend 05/03

This weekend we welcome Blackburn to the Cottage for a 12:30 kickoff

Fulham v Blackburn Rovers

Cardiff was a close game, any away win is a bonus, perhaps its just me but I always think that we have tough games against Cardiff even though we’ve done the double over them this season, this was the type of game we could easily have slipped up on.

Mitro has yet another goal to add to his very impressive tally, Gentleman Jim suggested, in jest, that it was getting boring, long may we all be bored! I was surprised that Seri didn’t get a run out after his master-class performance against Peterborough, although I trust our current manager, unlike the previous one, to make correct team selections.

Since we beat Rovers at their place they went on an impressive run, 10 unbeaten with 8 wins, boosting them up the table and being real contenders for an automatic rather than play-off slot. Their form has slumped over the past few games but you don’t put a 10 game unbeaten run together without having a really good squad who knows how to grind out results.

I’m not expecting a repeat of the 7 goals against we scored Rovers that we scored at their place, and I’m sure they’ll be looking for revenge so I’m expecting a close game.

Current Form:
Fulham – WWLWW
Rovers – LLDLW

Our record against Rovers is remarkably even, 7 wins, 7 losses and 4 draws

Games for the Week-end 26/02

We’re off to South Wales to visit Cardiff at their place

Cardiff v Fulham

Mitro’s got the new goal scoring record, he’s overtaken Ivan Toney 31 for Brentford last season, and theres still 14 games to go! I’m sure his next target will be Guy Whittingham’s total of 42, I wouldn’t bet against him surpassing that one either!

Seri probably had his best game in a Fulham shirt, he’ll surely now be the 2nd name on the team sheet. If it wasn’t for Steven Benda remarkable performance then the result would have been far more comfortable than the 2-1 scoreline suggests.

Cardiff’s last minute loss to Huddersfield last time out, brought their good run of 4 wins in 6 games to an end, their in better form than 19th suggests.

Current form:
Cardiff – WLWDL
Fulham – DWWLW

Our record against the bluebirds is quite good with 7 wins, 5 losses and 6 draws.

Games for mid-week 23/02

We’re under the lights at the Cottage again for this Wednesdays game against Peterborough.

Fulham v Peterborough

Well we had to loose sometime didn’t we? having said that I think we played well in the 2nd half and if it wasn’t for a couple of dubious ref’ decisions, never a penalty and he missed an obvious handball, we might have got something from the game. Having said that Huddersfield deserved to get something from the game, perhaps a draw would have been a fairer result?

Darren Ferguson has resigned as Peterborough boss, I wonder how this will effect our game? new boss bounce? I doubt they’ll have anyone in place for Wednesday, and anyway the chances of them making a huge difference as short notice are minimal?
Bournemouth have had their game against Swansea postponed, so this should be a chance for us to draw further away from 2nd place, however this is the Championship and we can’t afford any sort of complacency!

I wonder of Mitro will make history this game?

Current form:
Fulham – WDWWL
Peterborough – LLLDL

Our record against Peterborough, such as it is, 2 wins, 0 losses and draws.

Games for the Week-end 19/02

There’s an early kick-off, 12:30, for our game at the Cottage against Huddersfield.

Fulham v Huddersfield

Mitro’s scored 31 times, this season to equal the record for number of goals in a season and we’ve still got 16 games left! I wonder how many more he’ll get? Mitro’s on FIRE!
Over on the forum someone came up with an interesting point, Fulham’s goal difference (52) is greater than the goal difference of the 4 teams, added together, immediately below them (51).

Huddersfield are on a very good run, they’ve gone 14 games without loosing, 7 wins and 7 draws, the last time they lost was November 27th against Middlesborough.

Current form:
Fulham – WWDWW
Huddersfield – DWWDD

Our record against Huddersfield is very good with 8 wins, 1 loss and 2 draws.

Games for the weekend 12/02

We’re on our travels again, this time to the MKM Stadium to play Hull for a 3 o’clock kickoff.

Hull v Fulham

So after the mid-week games we’re 6 points in front of Bournemouth, we’ve played the same number of games, 8 points in front of Blackburn who have played 31, 9 in front of QPR, 29 games, 12 in front of Huddersfield, 31 games and 15 in front of Forest, 30 games. I can’t remember a season when we’ve been in such a “comfortable” position, and thats without mentioning the goal difference, I can’t see anyone getting close to that so effectively thats another point! Someone on the forum pointed out that our goal difference is more than any other club has scored so far, Bournemouth 47, QPR 46 and Blackburn 45 are the closest.

Hull have a “new” owner and manager but have lost their previous 2 games, after winning the 3 before them so their capable of putting a run together, interestingly they had a 0-0 draw against Bournemouth but lost 2-0 to Rovers.
Remember Jimmy Bullard called Hull a “bigger club” than Fulham when he left us to join them.

Current form:
HULL WWWLL
Fulham WWWDW

Our record against Hull isn’t particularly good with 5 wins, 7 losses and 2 draws.

Games for mid-week 08/02

Another game under the lights of Craven Cottage, this time we welcome Millwall

Fulham v Millwall

Well we’re out of the cup, no real surprise against Man City, and we can now concentrate on the league.
Williams looked good, I’m sad to see Odoi go however I don’t think he would have gotten much game time next season.
Carvalho doesn’t look to have been too effected by the transfer saga, only one game I know but he did play well against City and scored our first goal against them in donkeys!
I’m certain that Mitro will be looking forwards to Tuesday evening, although he’s been working really hard for the team, he’s not scored recently, I’m sure he’ll want to break the scoring record sooner rather than later!, surely it can’t be too long before yet another first half hat-trick?

We all know that in the Championship anyone can beat anyone however, our record against Millwall is very good with 5 wins, 1 loss and 3 draws.
Millwall appear to be gaining some better form drawing at Preston last time out and getting a 2-0 against West Brom.

Games for the Weekend 29/01

We’re back at the Cottage, this time we welcome Blackpool for a 3 o’clock kickoff

Fulham v Blackpool

The Stoke game was always going to be a tough one, with Mitro and Wilson missing, due to COVID? that didn’t make the task any easier however, Muniz really stepped up and once again the whole team put in a fantastic effort.
There are rumours that we’ll ask for this game to be rescheduled as we’ve so many players out with either COVID, other injuries or on international duty.
Mitro, Wilson COVID? Tete, Bryan (could be available?), Cavaleiro, Kongolo injured and Seri, Robinson, Hector and DeCordovia-Reid on international duty.

Blackpool have had a couple of good home wins against Millwall and Hull, we know how good they can be at their place.
I’m sure they’ll be looking forward to playing us, especially with our depleted squad, and hoping for the double against us, I don’t think many teams will do that this season.

Anyhow our record against Blackpool, apart from earlier in the season, is a good one with 3 wins, 1 loss and 3 draws.

Blackpool WLLWW
