As you know I want the academy to be an active part of our squad aprox 5 boys to be around our 25 man squad say between 19 to 21 to swell our squad to 30,chelsea have done it for years we have often beat them years ago 4-0 but they would have boys 14,15 why our boys were 18 it's took us with our present academy nearly 20 years to try to do it why you tell me.Obviously scounting,boys wanting to come to us agents guiding them but with our spending limits this should have been implemented years ago absolutely madness.the results mean nothing it's finding grass roots football players has to help,for example when they Brentford changed their academy structure a few years ago we took on quite a few of their boys so in a way we took the easy option we still have a few a couple play for England youth that area should have been a priority,that would be part overseen by a permanent full time Dof just one of many jobs to work on.
Pretty sure the club are on it with integrating youth players, we currently have two already in our squad, but beyond that a lot of academy players often step up to train with first team too, most notably recently in the International break.
I don't think they need to rush it for vanity reasons, as they'll see who's ready for the step up on a day to day as well as with integrating them with the occasional first team appearances in training.. I think clubs tried too hard not too long ago to speed kids through in search for the next big thing and it ended up ruining more kids then not, hence why bringing kids through their different age groups and doing so in a mature way.
If you think about players the club have brought through the ranks more recently, it shows that the players often step up when they're ready now to perform at PL level - Sessegnon, Carvalho, King
The club is arguably even kinder to other players in giving them first team game time, with the list showing quite a few players who ultimately don't make it with us, are still given professional game time with the first team
