Title: Come on Villa
Post by: Thailand Mick on May 07, 2026, 06:25:41 PM
Really hoping they can turn it around tonight, was so confident when they both got through a couple of weeks ago but now it looks a far tougher task.

After the team they put out last Sunday let alone performance against Spurs I begrudgingly want Forest to go through. Not their biggest fan either apart from Clough era but what Villa did was very disrespectful especially towards Westham.

Agree 100%, Villa were a disgrace against Spurs, many changes and never even tried.

I really don't like John McGinn -  but I really wished we had a battling midfielder like him

I think we could have had him off Hibs if we'd have upped our offer by half a million.
Super little player.

He's the type of Captain you need in your team.

Well deserved win for Villa. They were much better for full 90 minutes.

This keeps our (slim) chances of CL football alive. We'd need to finish 6th and we'd need Villa to finish in the 5th place + win EL.

If Villa win, do the Europa and Conference qualification places drop down one slot?

I know that if they win and finish 5th, top 6 go to CL, and I believe 7th goes to EL with 8 going to Conference League.

And then if City win the FA Cup is there an extra EL place? So 9th gets conference.

I don't think so. If anything, I think that if City loses, it takes away one spot from the league, but don't quote me on it.

If Arsenal, City and Palace all win in Europe what does that mean for next seasons European qualification?

Yeah I'm not sure you're right, I think if they win the spot drops down one: https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/13534068/premier-league-qualification-for-champions-league-europa-league-and-conference-league-permutations-as-run-in-heats-up#:~:text=If%20Man%20City%20win%20the,in%20addition%20to%20the%20above.
