Friends of Fulham

As an aside from football I do recommend the documentary Children of the Blitz on BBC2. What a generation they were.   So many priceless black and white photographs.   

I've just watched the violent & gritty 'This is England' series on Channel 4 again, some great performances, including a young Stephen Graham.

I was too young as I was born on 2nd September in Kensington and the London Blitz began on 7th September 1940.
Mothers were kept in longer in those days and there was no protection from the bombing. Apparently during a raid the mothers simply went on the floor under the beds with their babies.
Not even beds in corridors in those days!

I was lucky I arrived two days before the war ended on the 6th.

I was born in 1958 and I am not a Londoner. From The Midlands, originally. But none of us should ever forget how many people gave up their lives for the cause and how many people died innocently in historical events like the Blitz, the Coventry bombings and other bombings (Southampton and Plymouth) during WW2.
If those people were alive now to see the mess Britain is in......plus the asylum seeker situation.....the general cost of living.....a Government fighting, with a clueless and vain PM, amongst itself that does nothing for anyone and hasn't done anything for anyone since coming into power.....Growing up in the 60s and being a teenager in the 1970s was a lot more fun and far, far better than being a teenager now, in 2026. Bring back the 'good old days'.........and remember when Moore, Marsh AND Best all played for Fulham?? What an era and something that will always stay with me until I die
