Title: Abject to say the least.
Post by: JimmyConway on May 17, 2026, 06:01:13 PM
Post might be a bit knee jerk after that performance but we could be next seasons Wolves the way the last month or two have panned out?
I fully understand fans worry about can Silva take us further or is he limited? My concern now is if a new manager comes in we are likely to see the same dross served up just under a new managers name? We can't have a manager who plays the press as this lot are not suited so you look at a possession based coach and we get rinse & repeat. It's like a viscous circle. Highly unlikely we are going to move a fair chunk of them on or for any reasonable fees? We are stuck with some bang average footballers currently. What's the betting Berge & Lukic are picked first game of next season? Muniz how on earth is he getting a start? I personally think his had his day in the sun and has little or nothing to offer. He would not look out of place in the lower divisions I am sorry to say currently? ESR not quick enough nice footballer technically but can't sustain any influence on a game. New manager will want to look at most of these lot!!

MS not limited, in the sense he doesn't have the horses needed or hasn't been given the resources.  No excuse for recent Home losses v WHU, Everton and Bournemouth.  And the draw v relegated Wolves.  The players are available to get results, it's not like we were playing, in my noted examples, ManCity in all four of those games.  And also consider we do have some very good players in the team, many of which are starters for their country teams.

I totally discount all the posts about how the players are on the beach, and not performing to their best BECAUSE MS may not be the coach next season.  Bunk, in my view.  These guys are professional athletes and when they lace up their boots they are looking to win games and score goals.

Now, if you want to criticize the 'style' of play they are being asked by MS, then, yes, that is subject to critique.  Too often we see forward movement only to be held up with sideways and backwards play.  And also when in final third, too many short, ticky-tacky passing trying to make that perfect play or good shot chance.  Instead of having a go, take that shot when you have it, close in or from distance.  This teams just doesn't shoot enough, not only this season, but last as well.  Just not scoring goals, and you can't score unless you take the shot.

Agree with your points about our playing style and will add; Leno takes far too long to release the ball and then plays it to the nearest defender - slow from the off and oh so predictable. Then once Leno has finally knocked it 10 yds we look uncomfortable, slow and vulnerable working it forward.

This has been an incredibly disappointing finish to what seemed like a promising season. The style of play was uninspiring and, frankly, ineffective. I hope a new manager can inject a bit of enthusiasm.

We still need a quality striker to take the helm from Raul...because Muniz ain't it. A few other improvements would help, but our overall quality of players should keep us clear of danger of relegation imo

Firstly, how the f did Berge miss at point blank range. Secondly, how how **** was the ref to miss the penalty first time. Thirdly Silva stringing this out is the reason we've missed out on Europe.  Confirmed by super Mark Schwarzer.

You can critise Leno's slow distribution and our slow build up play butvatvthe end of the day its not down to the players its down to Marco and his coaching methods, to be honest since Stuart Gray and Boa have left the coaching set up we have been dross
