Title: When I look at the list of possible managers being linked
Post by: perry geyton on June 05, 2026, 05:05:51 PM
I find it rather uninspiring, no unfamiliar names just a bunch of managers we've all heard of that have recently been sacked or out of a job but have a bit of premier league experience

Not very creative at all

We need to do a Bournemouth or Brentford and pull someone out of our arse that people might not be familiar with

Just my five cents, for what it's worth

I might be wrong but I think when we appointment Marco ,that kind of came out of nowhere so hopefully there might be surprise.

I have a funny feeling it will be Poch.....
I know he can get a 'bigger' club, but I just have a feeling.

The thing is, at the moment it's all speculation so all the press can do is highlight the obvious candidates - the big (or at least biggish) names who are currently out of work, or who might want a step up from their current role.

Hopefully Fulham have been doing their research and will find someone who will be the right fit for us.

For what it's worth, I think there's no chance of us getting Poch. Spurs would tempt him as he feels he had unfinished business there, but other than that, he'd want to manage a genuine Premier League contender.

Glasner chose to leave Palace

Pochettino is still USMNT manager

Not sure I get what you're on about...

There's two managers who weren't sacked and are linked and are of high calibre

I think the truth of the matter is we have our target manager/managers and are waiting to see if they will come, in the mean time we are sounding out other managers to see if they would be interested like Slot who seems to have declined. The media then says he turned down the job he wasn't even offered yet.

I'm afraid you are wrong. Silva had already had uninspiring stints at Hull City, Watford and then Everton....all three clubs sacked him.....before he rucked up at the Cottage.

I agree. And for the whingers and moaners, just a reminder that you all wanted Silva to go. And this is what happens. As time ticks by, desperation starts to set in. And before you know it, the dreaded name of Sean Dyche becomes a reality. As for Scott Parker, don't even go there!

OMG! Are you in cloud cuckoo land??? Arnie Slot??? I would rather have Scotty Parker back! Slot's 'put fans to sleep style football' made him the most unpopular Liverpool manager on record. And besides, Slot is hardly going to downsize is he??? What about Pep or Arteta, who don't you??? Or how about Luis Enrique or Vincent Kompany???

I know he can get a 'bigger' club, but I just have a feeling.

I remember when Brendan Rodgers shocked everyone (the first time he was at Celtic as manager) when he left the club to become manager of Leicester City. Rodgers had won the treble with Celtic and was very popular with the fans and his players. Then something happened between him and the Chairman. So, shock appointments do happen. However, I just can't see Pochettino, who'se on a huge 5 million Euro contract with the USA men's team until the end of July, coming to Fulham.

He is a 'big club' manager. End of.

Also, Fulham could never afford him.

If you are that sure, why not put a bet on??? It's about as far-fetched as Leicester City winning the PL back in 2016.

Think Roy Hodgson was more unpopular at
Liverpool than Slot.

Yeah I know all of that but his appointment for us cam out of nowhere, he wasn't mentioned in the running ,I never said anything about what clubs he had or how he did.

And as for those clubs now that u bring it up ,he had a few months at hull who were more or less relegated before he took over but he still gave them half a chance and on the everton job I dont think anyone has finished higherwith Everton  then his everton team in his first season since he was sacked

In world terms the US arent a big name, the only club poch has won anything at is PSG and he struggled to win elsewhere came 3rd in a 2 horse race when Leicester won the title won nothing at Spurs or Chelsea. He is isnt an elite manager that big clubs want, remember City didn't want him, Liverpool didn't want him

I'm just waiting for the first post criticising the Chairman for not having a top class coach ready to take over when Marco left. It will be when we appoint somebody uninspiring or in a few weeks when pre-season training is getting underway and the position is still vacant.

Think that's a tad harsh on Poch! The big clubs as you say might not be looking at him now but from an European perspective PSG Chelsea and Spurs to a certain degree are all big clubs. He took Spurs to a Champions League Final came close to winning Premier League. Got Chelsea back to qualification for Champions league and managed the likes of Messi Mbappe at PSG.
If we were to entice him and that's a very big "if" then we would be punching well over our weight!

All we actually have seen or heard is the Media touting every manager currently unemployed being touted for every vacant managerial position or agents (in the case of the Ipswich boss) touting their clients for jobs that are seen to be better paying than their current one.
We have no option but to trust the club's process and see who comes in to replace Marco

We are also up against Palace who have an advantage of European football to offer to there new manager. Might be a bit of Cat & Dog going on as well.

Agree and Man U haven't wanted him on a few occasions.

My view is that Poch generally plays attractive football and keeps a happy dressing room, but he struggles to achieve results. Even at PSG, given their resources, his achievements were considered disappointing. We'd have fantastic end-to-end 5-4 defeats with the occasional victory as we descend into the Championship with very happy players. He's the last thing we need.

Of the names in contention, I think only Frank would be an improvement on Marco Silva in terms of maintaining/improving upon our current standing. McKenna would be such a risk having had only one PL season ending in relegation. As for Lampard or Rosenior, I think that would be a massive step backwards

I so hope that, given Silva's departure has been on the cards for at least 6 months, we have been sounding out high calibre candidates and it is for legal reasons only that we haven't made an announcement. Most of us seem to share frustrations over the late arrival of transfers but, in defence of the owners, they appointed Marco with minimum of fuss and fairly quickly after Scott Parker left. Hopefully they have been doing the same behind-the-scenes work in recent months too

what are you on about did you even read the post. Nowhere in that post did I say I wanted Slot or expected him to come to Fulham. What I said was the media are claiming he turned down the job that I believe wasn't even offered to him.

The difference is that the club didn't want Parker to stay, the hold-up was negotiating his release. They were probably already doing the groundwork on his replacement, which meant that once his departure was official, the new appointment could be confirmed quickly.

This time, the club were actively trying to keep Marco Silva, somewhat desperately if reports are to be believed. Now that he's going, the scramble begins.

My view is that the ownership are opportunistic rather than forward thinking. The approach for Slot reinforces that, given he was only let go by Liverpool a week ago. I don't think there is much of a plan behind the scenes, because if there is no way would the first approach be for a manager who was fresh out of work. It feels as though the club are looking for a glamour appointment they can sell to the fans as a coup.

I think we'll move for Amorim next, but if he also turns us down, we can't afford to wait around for Poch. There will start to be dissatisfaction among the playing group if we're not careful. If they return for pre-season with Hayden Mullins taking training and we still haven't sorted ourselves out, at that point, players may begin looking at what options they have this summer.
