Worth a punt. He will probably be loaned out next season and then he either comes into the team in a year or so or gets sold later on. Relatively low risk.
He played so little it's hard to have a huge opinion on it, but the club saw him up close for a whole season so you hope that they see a future there.
At that price point I'm definitely not against it. There's not many players that are potentially PL quality for 6m.
I'll pre-empt my comment by stating the obvious. We fall into two distinct groups. Those that only see doom and those that clutch at straws. I happily swing from one camp to the other, but I've got a good feeling about this one :)

Nice one! I like this move and hope we do keep him around next season to develop under Arbeloa. Good to know that loan fee wasn't wasted.

I'm generally usually in the middle.
So seems we make more early window signings when we dont have a manager than when we do......
The other thing about a β¬6m fee is that on a long contract (assume 4/5 years), loaning him out for a fee next season would mean that he essentially costs us Β£0 in year 1 whilst we get him playing regular mens football, and he could realistically go to a championship team for that experience. Otherwise happy for him to be third choice striker, he definitely has something about him and looks a good finisher in the U21 games which is something we are crying out for
I am less than overwhelmed. I am massively surprised.
What we saw wasn't brilliant and whilst he may be young, I've seen loads of young players over the years, I am not sure what he will bring that might develop.

He didn't get much time at senior. He's still so early in his career. Looked class at U21 level and featured for Bayern last pre season.
He's got a lot of potential and that fee is small in this market. JKA having a full pre season and a coach that trusts younger players, we should see him kick on
Great buy as our third striker, he could potentially stay at the club for upto a decade. Especially great is he doesn't count in the squad of 25 players for the next three seasons so we can have a little bit deeper squads if required which could be helpful for new coach that doesn't know his goto bench players yet.

your looking positive KF
There were games I thought there is something about this lad and you could see why Bayern snapped him up early. There were a couple of games when he got a chance like MiddBoro in cup where he was less effective. Looks to me though there is more than enough ability in him to be successful. Being a betting man I don't think it will be long before he will at least be our 2nd striker presuming we are bringing in a No 1 type centre forward.

That's the hope. As academy players go he's got pedigree, and we've got a very good academy and route to first team football, and in Marco a manager who knew how to develop young talent. He was only 18 last season too, turning 19 on July 4th, so still very young.
Β Arbeloa, should he sign, is also a fan of developing young players, and JKA is one who has more potential than most having gone through Bayerns academy.
Β£6m in this day isn't a huge amount and it gives the squad continuity, so I'm fine with him signing.
Where I would start to get slightly worried if we end up overindexing and only buy academy players with limited first team playing time.
Last time we did that in the championship under Magath and nearly got relegated.
I'm not saying these academy players we're linked with can't do a good job for us long term, or aren't talented, and have played a handful of games for Real Madrid if they come.
But it's a lot to expect them to adjust to senior men's football properly, a new country's culture, a new language and league and be expected to be competitive from the get go.
If we do bring them in, then that's fine, but we need to put budget into more established players too to balance things out and lead by example for the younger generation who may be talented, but fundamentally inexperienced.
That is a relief, fleeting minutes on as a sub really was never enough, he does look like he could be special. Quite surprised that some of our Youtube pundits never rated him.

As some have mentioned, he may well end up being our second choice. But a loan to the Championship would make sense
Hope he works out for us. Worth a punt at a reasonable fee. Loan him out next season and let's see if he can do well at championship level ideally.

Olise doesn't smile either...
Kusi-Asare, like De Fougerolles needs regular game time to develop. They won't get that in the first team squad. We should invest in their futures by arranging season long loans in the Championship. A year in that league should give the club a very good idea if they're gonna make the step up to the Prem. In the meantime the club's priority must be to recruit a new number nine to replace Jiminez.

I've definitely seen Olise smile!
The club, i hope, will have a plan for JKA. With Arbeloa's ability to improve youngsters it may be better to remain here than go on loan. Time will tell. It seems like he enjoyed his time at MP last season so hope that continues, I saw him a few times on FFCTV and he does have lots of ability and knows where the net is. Here's hoping.
Good news.
I know people in Germany reckon he has huge potential. From the little I saw last season he was way off, but then so are most of our Academy boys right now. The coaches must have identified something, so fingers crossed. Bayern fans fearing we have grabbed a bargain, which is somewhat promising.
Waste of time IMO
Now I will have to try to remember his name instead of him being JKA.
Quote from: ffcthereligion on June 26, 2026, 11:54:07 AMWaste of time IMO
Then I suppose you don't rate any of our U21 squad as when he played for them last season he looked a level above anyone else ...
You could be jumping the gun playing u21 games aprox 3 games doesn't make him a premier league player 3mil loan then 6 mil euros contract many fine boys at 21 level never make championship standard. What we have paid out for him hope tony has had advice about him or does he believe like in wrestling you can be kicked all over the place then you get up and score a goal ld rather believe the tea lady.
Yes, we're buying him on potential, but we need a 3rd striker and we don't really have that option. It's also hard to find someone who would be happy with that role for the money we're outlaying. At least with JKA, he can play U21s every now and then, and start get game-time as a sub to help that development.
He's similar to Isak in stature, 6'5, great with his feet and not slow by any means. With a bit more development, he'll be in the same mould as many top athlete's today. While he needs time to develop into a senior striker he has all the attributes to succeed in our team - a big tall striker, with great technical ability and can bring others into play.
With Arbeloa coming in, who has played 2 up top at times, the 3rd striker needs to have something about them, JKA can be that.
For those who saw the U21s last year, it was clear he was too good for that level. Something a few of our own have struggled to do.
And for those thinking about the price-tag, we sold Stansfield for near 17m. JKA is coming in at much less than that, and has already been at the top clubs.
He's also broke into the senior setup where he was previously too, which shows he ain't far off being capable at top level - Senior apps at AIK and Bayern. Also scored vs Spurs last pre-season for Bayern too (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/sYPaIeYWOM4) and then again vs Grasshoppers (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43KteRsKZpA) - the quality of both finishes is incredibly high.
He's had the added the benefit of having a year of settling into a new country, which is key for laying a successful foundation, especially as he's only 19. Has all the tools to succeed.
His 2nd vs West Ham U21s was class too: https://youtu.be/WRrS4n8RsjQ?si=MX1_PfQkJeVOpB9T&t=3106
Then he went an replicated it vs Chelsea a few weeks later - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfkptZ5DYX0

The times we've seen him on a pitch represent a tiny fraction of what the club know about him after a season.Β If they think he's worth Β£6m, then he's a talented lad heading in the right direction.Β
I doubt he'd be joining if he didn't enjoy his time so far.Β That alone is good news.
I think he is a steal for Β£6
You cant even sign a Tea Lady for that these days
His problem is his languid style which makes him look lazy
When he hits the ball is goes fast
I would probably back him to score more goals then Muniz if you could replicate their games

The jump from under 21 to Championship is huge, it may be a while before we see him playing there.
But at that price and having had a season to look at him and with his own future actually settled, it can only be a good thing, I think.

How do you know Silva didn't rate him? Because he didn't play him? Silva took ages to bring players in, he hardly gave any youth players any minutes. Silva has gone so maybe the new manager gave the go ahead.
It's on the offal now. 5 year deal with a 12 month option.
I'm happy, we need to invest in youth with high potential. If Arbeloa plays with 2 strikers he could get more game time. Failing that, a loan to a league 1 club next season would be ideal.

The 18-year-old has joined for an undisclosed fee on a five-year contract, with a Club option to extend by a further 12 months.
Kusi-Asare told FFCtv: "I'm very happy to be a permanent Fulham player. From my first week here, it was very good β I felt like I was a part of the Fulham family.
"The changing room was very nice, team, staff, so I'm very happy to stay here."

"We believe that he is a very talented young player with massive potential and a bright future, and we're very happy that Jonah is joining the Club permanently now following his time with us on loan. Come on Fulham!"
Kusi-Asare demonstrated a lot of promise in his 10 First Team appearances last season, and was prolific when called upon for the Under-21s, scoring four times in just five appearances, averaging a goal every 92 minutes.

Beg to differ. Considering his amount of appearances and then banished to the reserves under Silva the question remains. Personally don't think you can turn a blind eye after watching the TK interviews where recruitment is concerned. Perhaps the new manager was adamant we had to sign Asare or he wasn't going to come??

Massively against these types of deals. If he scores 10 PL goals within the next 2 seasons his value jumps to around Β£40m, so it really depends how much their buy back clause is. Doesn't seem worth buying and developing young players if buy back clauses exist. The fee would have to be structured in some kind of tier model to protect us.

Wasn't that because he was with the first team squad?
No, when he joined he wasnt gettiing any game time. There was a clamour to at least play him in teh U21s
JKA may not have been getting much time on the pitch but he was consistently on the substitutes' bench throughout the months Muniz was injured. When Muniz returned, Kusi-Asare featured less frequently among our substitutes and began playing for our U21s instead. I think it can be inferred that, had Muniz stayed fit, JKA would have appeared for our U21s both sooner and more often.
Isn't buy back clause depended the player agreeing. he seems to have turned down other Premier league offer's. Certainly gives the impression that he enjoys the club and wanted the move.
Quote from: demeant0r on June 27, 2026, 02:12:28 PMPretty sure it means we've agreed a set fee that Bayern will pay us if they, at any point, want to buy him back
It could mean any of several things. Most likely, in my opinion, is that Bayern get first refusal on JKA if we are selling him. If we have agreed a maximum fee Bayern have to pay, I'm sure it will be a high figure. After all, if, at some point in the future, Kusi-Asare is good enough to make Bayern's starting XI, he will have done something pretty spectacular for us.
Quote from: JimmyConway on June 27, 2026, 11:01:02 AMDo you think we sign him if Marco Silva was still here? I like him and think there is potential but have a slightly cynical thought that TK is making himself busy again?
With the greatest respect to Silva and our incoming manager, no manager should have that much say in who we sign as youth prospects because a managers role is always short/medium term and the club should always be looking for players they think will prosper long term to either bolster the first team or go straight into the U21's and/or out on loan

Unless you're Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger.

How does a buy back clause work?
Pretty sure it means we've agreed a set fee that Bayern will pay us if they, at any point, want to buy him back
A buy back clause usually means that Bayern would have first option if he is sold in future. How can you set a figure today for someone who could be worth Β£5m or Β£100m in two years time.

The manager is the focal point of a football club! He sets the tone of how the teams play throughout the club and that should include youth team players where recruitment is concerned. In theory a few of them will be the next cabs on the rank when you consider players making debuts at 16 nowadays. I am talking around the 15 years of age upwards.

Be careful H5 is back and he won't be happy if they take his spot on the cab rank.

Whoops demoted now.

That's not the job of a manager, what you've described is the role of a DoF. A manager having full control of recruitment means you're putting your eggs in one basket, and when the manager inevitably leaves you're stuck with players for their system rather than the clubs long term objectives

Exactly this.
Well that's our last signing until deadline day!
