He thinks he's playing rugby union and will get penalised if he passes the ball forwards.

But doing what he's good at and enabling others to play. He has over 70 caps for Norway so is rewarded for his ability

Genuinely for the life of me I can't understand how anyone could watch that game and slate Berge. He was superb in that holding role, he's about as safe a pair of hands as possible having the ball in your own half, to control possession and recycle it efficiently whilst breaking up play anything that goes through the middle. He and Odegaard controlled the tempo for the whole game, they outclassed the original samba team with passing and controlling the midfield.

I know people want him to get more G/A and it's a fair challenge, but he's a great #6 at this level for a possession based team, and he's showing it at the World Cup now as well

Just found myself scrolling through Sanders Instagram and saw a pic of him in his norway kit training at Motspur Park, which I wasn't aware of and wondered if it happened much or just the once off..

Also in the same group of photos was him with him arm around Stefan Johansen..

Alongside Bobb, Berge and Johansen, we've actually got quite  strong developing relationship with Norway as a country/team etc.

I know we talk up the fulham usa relationship, Mcbride, Bocanegra, Keller, Ream, Robinson, Hyndman, Johnson all being good reasons, is struck me that we're also starting to develop an equally strong relationship with Norway as a country..

Brede Hangeland was a beast.  We'd make good use of him now if he were young enough.

Sander does his job it seems there midfield was slow deliberately saving there energy and so it proved by beating Brazil with sander playing to orders.

You should know by now that certain people on this forum will slate our own players no matter what, he does a job for both FFC and Norway that he is asked to do a d most of the time he is very good at it. Just hope he has an off day next Saturday

When you've got someone of the calibre of Haaland up top, you don't really need to be getting up to the front line.

 

Ha, typical Berge performance, safe sideways and backwards passing.  Rarely adventurous.  He might have had the most touches in the game and probably a 100% pass completion rate as a result of all the safety.  Nothing unusual here, seen this many times.

As we all know, for whatever reason, Berge refuses to take a shot, have a go.  I hope new coach can change some of that.  Many times, especially in Premier League games, he'll be given quite a bit of open space in front of him, as teams don't fear forward movement or shot taking from this player.  I'd like to see him take the ball forward with pace when the chance presents, and take a shot from distance.  His show in this Norway game was really nothing we haven't seen before, totally safe passing all the time.  I guess his primary value is never making a misstep or gaffe, and playing solid defense, breaking up passing lanes and intercepting.  Just wish he would play more offensively, there are chances for him to move forward and be more adventurous.

He does the mopping up 🪣 🧽 so the big guy up top can do the scoring.

If Man Utd come sniffing this summer we should tell them to 'do one'.
