Kept them in it for sure. Ever since Neymar came in Norway was the better team. Before that, Norway controlled the game in terms of possession, but Brazil had more and better chances. Brilliant work from their keeper. Then Neymar came in and they lost the structure, imo,allowing Norway two take over. Two top class goals from Haaland.
Was he ever technically eligible for England? Didn't he grow up here/was he born in England (I don't know) when his dad played for Man City?
Still only 25 too, 26 later this month. Technically his peak years are still to come

If I was Tuchel I would man mark Haaland with Dan Burn, he is the only one who can match him in the air.
The good thing about facing Haaland/Norway is that these England players play Haaland at least twice every year so should know how to deal with him.

If Stones starts with Guehi and O'Reilly we'll have 3 Man City teammates in defence, which could help. Obviously, knowing what he's going to do is not the same as stopping it.

Gabriel plays him twice a year and he was dumped on the floor, and he is recognised as one of the best defenders in the league. the only way you have a chance is stopping the ball getting to him in the first place.
When Brazil introduced Neymar, I knew Norway would win this game. Neymar just isn't the player he used to be. Slow, sluggish, easily taken off the ball. Handicaps the club when he's brought on methinks, just my opinion....

It would be some story if Norway did manage to go all the way. A country with a population of just over 5m and with not much of a history in the tournament. It's good to see someone different making a name instead of the Brazil's and Germany's etc.
Having said all that I hope we can finally end the 60 year wait and add another star to go above the 3 Lions badge. Haalands young enough 2 play in a few more WC's.
One comment about Haaland from the Norwegian coach after the Brazil game really stuck with me. He said "Haaland is unique in the way that he does not care about being involved just for the sake of being involved. For instance, more or less all attackers seek to be involved in the game. If the ball is not coming forward for a while, most all will start getting involved by coming closer to their own team mates and own goal, as if to say "look. i am here, involve me!". Haaland does not care about that. He knows his strengths and where to utilize them and has no urge to be involved just for the sake of it".
Which immediately led me to think of the hundreds of times that i have been incredibly annoyed at how Fulham often lack any attacking alternatives and good plays when on a counter attack for instance.
I feel that Marco's insistency on everyone working their socks off and needing to be involved everywhere at all times may have limited the team and individual expression enormously, although i am sure that we also benefitted from collective defensive work because of it.
Still, I am nothing but excited for getting in anyone with hopefully slightly less focus on everyone working as if the team was some elite clockwork of a german machinery, and hope to see players like ESR, Kevin, Bobb, Muniz perhaps benefiting from not being limited to precise actions that needs to be executed in any given situation and position.
England should task Marc Guehi with the job of marking Haaland. Fonsa lost every battle with similarly physical Raul Jiminez so there is no way he can cope with the giant Norwegian.

He seems to have this extra sense where he knows exactly where a crossed ball is going to be,same as rebounds and goalies saving shots he seems to sense where the ball will land.
