I can see it's on The Athletic, so definitely something in this. I've actually never seen him play, is he any good?

Looks a real prospect from the limited minutes I've seen. Real fans seem to rate him but accept he's behind Enrick and Mbappe so won't play enough to develop.
Managed to get some game time this year mostly off the bench and scored a decent amount per 90 (0.52 goals per 90)
Also looks to have really strengthened up this summer - he's clearly hungry. Think it'd be quite a coup and somewhat expect him to go elsehwere but we'll see

I've never seen him play live, but any player that plays for Real Madrid and the Spanish national side at such a young age must have something about them.

6 goals in his last 6 Spain u21 outings.

If he's got a poster of her, he might be able to engineer his escape from Real.
...hopefully it's not us who end up in the sh......

If a player has the choice, he should consider leaving Real; Fulham or another club. He needs to play regularly to develop and shine.
He reminds me of Paulinho if he was a center forward
I dont think I have ever been so excited about us being linked with a player like him
All we need now is a person who can cross the ball to him
And we were doing so well up until that point
Garcia is quality and when Arbeloa was appointed he was immediately someone I thought would be great to bring in however I wasn't sure how realistic it would be.
He was one of the stand out players in the club world cup last summer and you only have to look at the reaction from Madrid fans to losing him to see what a great signing he would be.

Sounds encouraging but can he handle the
Physical demands of the English Premier League.
Hasn't Mourinho said he'd like to keep him?
Quote from: cookieg on July 23, 2026, 08:39:34 AMHasn't Mourinho said he'd like to keep him?
Yes, but from what I read, Mourinho also said that he would only play a small part at Real this season. He finally gave Garcia the final say as whether he wants to stay or move.
I watched him play quite a lot last season and i can confidently say this guy is a real talent. I still think it's really unlikely because i do believe he is actually that good, but wow, if we pull this off, hats off to Arbeloa.
With that said, I wouldn't expect him to be scoring loads of goals in his first season as he is still young and will be a totally new environment for him, but he will be a cut above from any of the other forward options we have. If he can find his feet and confidence in the league, i think he'll be a real coup. ::scarf::

Will probably cost a few Gilda
On the positives he would be coming to a coach who already knows his quality and how to play him.
I like it that he is two footed, which tends to give defenders more of a problem.
I would suspect he will have a lot of clubs interested.

Paulinho was a striker.
Coincidently he also had a spell at Spurs, just like Joao.
The "report" on Sky is playing down our chances.
Quote from: SimonDaviesEnjoyer on July 23, 2026, 12:55:36 PMThe "report" on Sky is playing down our chances.
The suggestion is that Mourinho (perhaps understandably) wants to wait for Endrick to return to training before making a decision. Apparently that is not until next week, so you would think it would take at least a couple of weeks to sign Gonzalo 'if' Mourinho decides to let him leave.
Whilst I think he would be a great signing - my preference would be to sign Balogun, as this would appear to be an easier signing to get done quickly, albeit for a higher fee.

yeah ok but what about Sadiq khan ?
Don't know why people jump the gun a whole dedicated thread to a player that is staying at Real Madrid. We have 2 strikers that scored 1 goal all season between them and we are scratching around for youngsters from Real Madrid who aren't available 😂😂
If The Athletic reported the story then we're definitely speaking to Real, but that doesn't mean we'll succeed. Lots of journalists chat nonsense.

This part is key:
"Sources with knowledge of the situation indicated Madrid had decided months ago that Garcia would leave this summer — but the process was put on hold after Mourinho's arrival as the new head coach wanted to see the striker in pre-season. The Portuguese liked the player but is not able to guarantee a prominent role in the team next season as it stands, leaving the choice on his future up to Garcia."
So Moaninho didn't say he doesn't want him, more that he can't guarantee much game time.

Well Real Madrid have said he's not for sale, so sadly that's that.

Deal off... back to the drawing board...
We will have to wait another four weeks for a signing.

He played for Spain at youth level ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
Can you add the seven Spanish gentlemen who form Arbeloa's training, fitness and analytics team?
That beefs up the number significantly.

Any chance you can post the text of it in English. Not on that X bollox
It sez;
José Mourinho is a huge admirer of Gonzalo García and wants to keep him, but—as reported by @MarioCortegana—he is Fulham's top target to bolster their attack.
The English club is prepared to invest a significant sum to sign him outright, although Real Madrid would retain a percentage of his rights in any case.
