Fulham in talks to sign third Real Madrid player before transfer deadline
Real Madrid will not see much movement before the transfer window closes later this week, but there will still be business done – particularly when it comes to La Fabrica. A number of signings and sales have already been made in relation to Castilla, and in the next couple of days, another could be on their way to the Premier League.

Since taking over as Fulham head coach, Alvaro Arbeloa has made it clear that he wants to be reunited with several of his former players at Real Madrid/Castilla. The Premier League side have already signed Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios, and now, a third player could be on his way to Craven Cottage before the transfer deadline.

Earlier in the summer, Manuel Angel was identified as one of the players Arbeloa wanted to sign, and it's now been reported by The Telegraph's Mike McGrath that Fulham have stepped up plans to secure the services of the 22-year-old midfielder.

Angel, whose seven appearances for Real Madrid have all come under Arbeloa, is one of the players that has outgrown Castilla but is not considered good enough for the first team. Thus, it makes a lot of sense for him to be offloaded, and the prospect of being reunited with his former manager is one that the La Fabrica graduate will surely jump at.

Real Madrid are unlikely to command a high fee for Angel, although they will surely look to include a significant sell-on clause and/or buy-back option in any agreement, given this formula is always followed when it comes to departing La Fabrica talents. Fulham are certainly well-placed to win this race, although they are racing against time to ensure that a deal can be done before the summer transfer window closes later this week.

Newcastle United Not Currently Rivalling Fulham For Attacker
Talk Newcastle United are in the mix to sign Fulham target Matias Soule from Roma is wide of the mark, according to journalist Lee Ryder.

Soule has been in demand throughout the summer transfer window, with consistent links with various Premier League sides and he is expected to leave the Stadio Olimpico, but the destination remains undecided.

The 23-year-old still has three years remaining on his Roma contract, but it emerged on Sunday that Fulham are holding 'very complex' talks to try to take him to Craven Cottage.

Newcastle want to further strengthen their squad before the transfer window ends, and it has been suggested that they are also in the picture for Soule, along with Fulham.

Manager Matthias Jaissle registered his first win for the club in the league with a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, but the German is seeking to add more depth to his front line.

Whether Newcastle do end up bringing in another attacker is something that will become clear soon, but suggestions they are in for Soule are wide of the mark.

The Magpies are not currently in the mix to sign Soule from Roma and if the Argentine does move, it is unlikely to be to St James' Park.

A move to Fulham may represent the most likely Premier League route for Soule and all eyes will be on whether Alvaro Arbeola's men can come to an agreement with Roma for his services.

Last term, Soule made 33 Serie A appearances, scoring six goals and providing five assists in the process, to help Roma qualify for the Champions League.

Soule has been capped by Argentina up to Under-20s level, but has so far not broken through into the senior set-up, with there even being talk he could be called up by Italy instead.

He may well be hopeful that another move, with a prominent role in the side, unlocks a senior international call.

INSIDE FUTBOL SAYS:
Matias Soule has been linked with Premier League clubs all summer and several have taken a close look at signing him, yet none have pulled the trigger.

That may well change before the end of the window, but given he has been available all summer, there must be some question marks which come with his signing.

Given Newcastle United do not look to be going for him, if Fulham do get him, then it will be interesting to see if other Premier League sides missed the boat or they saw something which left them unconvinced, and were right to pass on signing him.

Albion Under-18s were beaten by Fulham in their latest U18 Premier League South outing on Saturday.

Chay Thompson's youngsters started the game quickly when Frazer Billings almost took full advantage of a slip-up from the Cottagers' defence; unfortunately for the hosts, Zack Brief made an important stop to keep the score level.

Though the visitors took the lead not long after. Khai Vally despatched a spot-kick to give Fulham the upper hand in the game.

Alfie Round and goalkeeper Will Rutter came to the Baggies' rescue on a couple of occasions, but it wouldn't take long for the visitors to double their advantage.

Kayden Sessegnon was on hand to prod home an inviting delivery for their second, while Bashil Lubega added a third by rounding Rutter and finishing into an empty net.

The fourth brought more of the same disappointment for the young Baggies when Sessegnon rounded off Fulham's scoring - condemning the hosts to defeat.

Preston North End working on loan move for Fulham prospect
Preston North End may have found their Milutin Osmajic replacement, with loan talks ongoing for a young Premier League forward.

Preston North End are in talks with Fulham over a loan move for striker Jonah Kusi-Asare, according to Pete O'Rourke.
It's been a difficult start to the season for Preston North End and Paul Heckingbottom, with the Lancashire club still hunting their first points in the Championship. With just over 24 hours left in the window, everyone at PNE knows just how important reinforcements could be.

One name through the door at Deepdale could be Jonah Kusi-Asare. According to Pete O'Rourke, the Lilywhites are in talks over a loan move for the Fulham forward.

Heckingbottom's side are in the market for a forward after Milutin Osmajic left for Genoa. 19-year-old Kusi-Asare could be the man to replace him for the season, having been in the Bayern Munich squad just over 12 months ago.

Who is Preston North End target Jonah Kusi-Asare?
19-year-old striker Kusi-Asare only made the move to England six months ago. The Sweden youth international joined Fulham on loan from the German giants Bayern Munich initially, before the option to buy was triggered by the Cottagers.

Beginning his career in his native Sweden at AIK, Kusi-Asare was quickly snapped up by Bayern and thrown into their youth system. After strong performances for their second team, the 6ft 5in striker would make two appearances for the first-team.

With chances limited, the youngster joined Fulham for more first-team football. Despite impressing in his all-round play, Kusi-Asare finds options limited again, with a loan to Preston North End potentially being the perfect move to showcase his skills.

Preston North End had to replace Osmajic before the deadline and boss Heckingbottom is going down a different route with Kusi-Asare.

Whilst the Swede represents some of the same physical attributes as the now Genoa forward, his play style is very different. Standing at 6ft 5in, the Swedish front man is much of a target man forward, and a lot more rangy and build to win balls in the box.

What Kusi-Asare will do less of, is make runs off the last defender, preferring to win the ball, play off, and find space in the box. Although unproven, he looks like a talent and gives PNE a new dynamic in attack allowing them more use of long balls and crosses into the box, rather than the narrow attacking football fans had become used to.

Signing Kusi-Asare could go one of two ways. The player has a high ceiling and the change of play could be a masterstroke, or the Fulham prospect could struggle with the physicality of Championship football.

The FFC Rumour Mill: Fulham looking at four signings before the deadline

Well following our 1-0 defeat away at Sunderland one thing is clear, we need bodies in.

Alvaro Arbeloa alluded to this after Sunday's game stating he and the Khans' are working hard to secure deals. Fulham need bodies in and Tony Khan can't help but get excited about a deadline day. This could and should be a frantic few days, here's everyone that's been linked with us ahead of that deadline (spoiler: there's been quite a few).

Incomings
There's been a lot of defensive rumours since Thursday's article so I'll be putting this in order of which I think are possible.

Starting with Ait Boudlal whose once again been mentioned by French media. On Sunday night, it was reported that Fulham had a second offer rejected from Rennes in the region of €35m. A large chunk of change but a player Fulham are clearly desperate to sign, that being said, there are a few alternatives.

Another confirmed bid comes from Ryan Taylor of the Daily Mirror as both Fulham and Crystal Palace have had offers rejected by Brest for 19-year-old defender Raphael Le Guen.

FulhamTransfer has reported that Fulham are exploring a late move for Augsburg defender Chrislain Matsima. The same source also reports an interest in Celta Vigo defender Javi Rodriguez (with Everton also interested) as well as Jake O'Brien from Everton.

TeamTalk have thrown out two current Premier League defenders that Fulham could make a late move for. Kevin Danso from Spurs and the familiar face of Tosin from Chelsea.

Fulham are clearly in the market and seemingly desperate for a centre-back (hence all these rumours) and with a large bid rejected for Ait Boudlal as well as an offer turned down for Le Guen, don't be surprised if you see some more names crop up between now and Tuesday's 11pm deadline.

The second position Fulham are targeting is right-back with this one seemingly drawing closer to a conclusion. Andrei Ratiu is the man that Fulham are after and negotiations are advancing according to Matteo Moretto with a potential fee of €25m. The question of which full-back will depart with Ratiu's impending arrival will be answered later in this article.

Moving into midfield and Spanish reports are claiming that Real Madrid youngster Manuel Angel will join Fulham before Tuesday's deadline. The deal is reportedly accelerating and will be structured in the same way that Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios were.

Other reports suggest that Fulham are looking elsewhere for another midfielder option with Florian Plettenburg claiming both Fulham and Crystal Palace are in direct negotiations with Frankfurt over Swedish international Hugo Larsson. While FootMercato claim Fulham could explore a late move for Djaoui Cisse from Rennes.

The final position Fulham look desperate to fill is at right-wing with long-standing target Matias Soule with Gianluca Di Marzio claiming that Fulham and Roma were in talks over the winger. Other reports in Italy suggest those talks have now gone cold with Soule potentially joining Newcastle United. Another player who has been linked is Ethan Nwaneri whose preference is to remain in the Premier League according to Sky Sports. A deadline day domestic loan perhaps?

Outgoings
Now onto departures and one that looks certain is Kenny Tete. The Dutchman has agreed personal terms with Everton according to Fabrizio Romano with the departure pending an incoming for Fulham. Fulham will receive £9m for Tete who was not in Sunday's squad against Sunderland. A shame that this is the end for Tete but £9m is a good fee for someone whose fitness remains a question mark. A magnificent servant of the club who ultimately doesn't fit the way that Arbeloa wants to play. Go well, Kenny!

SkySportsItaly are reporting that Serie A side Cagliari are exploring a deal to sign Luc De Fougerolles. The report doesn't reveal whether this would be a permanent or a loan. I hope it's a loan and if so, this would be a magnificent deal for the Canadian's development. You'd imagine regardless of a loan or a permanent, this one is pending an arrival coming through the door.

Sky Sports are also reporting a loan is on the cards for Jonah Kusi-Asare with Championship side Preston the likely destination.

Finally, one that is confirmed is from Fulham's academy. Samuel Amissah has joined Portuguese side Estoril on loan until the end of the season. Another good loan for a player who needs minutes.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Newcastle United have now joined the race to sign AS Roma winger Matias Soule, with Sunderland, Everton, Fulham, Brighton & Hove Albion, and AC Milan also monitoring the 23-year-old.

Soule has been on Sunderland's radar for much of the summer, with the Black Cats making an approach in July. That move failed to progress after they were unable to agree terms with Roma, but interest has remained alive.

Newcastle have now entered the picture and could complicate Sunderland's hopes of reviving a deal before Tuesday's deadline. Soule has developed into an increasingly important player since leaving Juventus for AS Roma, but the Serie A club are still reshaping their attack.

AS Roma have considered keeping the Argentina international, although further attacking arrivals could create the conditions for a late sale. That uncertainty has encouraged Premier League clubs to remain alert.

Everton and Fulham among rival suitors
Everton and Fulham have also shown interest in Soule, while Brighton are keeping tabs on his situation. AC Milan have gone a step further by holding talks over a potential move, ensuring Newcastle face significant competition if they decide to formalise their pursuit.

Sunderland, meanwhile, are considering several alternatives and have also held talks for Marseille's Igor Paixao after previously exploring Geny Catamo and Malick Fofana. For Newcastle, Soule would represent another technically gifted option who can operate from wide areas and provide additional attacking variety.

With the deadline approaching and AS Roma still open to reshaping their squad, there is a growing possibility that the Argentine could leave the Italian capital. Soule's situation looks increasingly like one to watch closely in the final hours of the window.

Newcastle's entry adds another serious contender, but this is far from a straightforward race given the number of clubs involved. Much will depend on Roma's own business. Alvaro Arbeloa deserves his flowers from Real Madrid fans, too
Real Madrid's first season with Jose Mourinho back in charge has seen a good start so far, but it will take a lot of this for fans to forget the monstrosity that was the season that finished a few months ago.

It was a season where everything that could go wrong, went wrong. Real Madrid started it off with Xabi Alonso, winning some great matches, including the Clasico against Barcelona. Then, his influence on the team started deteriorating when the whole incident with Vinicius Junior happened.

Soon after that, he was sacked, and Alvaro Arbeloa, who only had half a season to stay in charge of Castilla, had to be brought in to replace Alonso.

It is safe to say Arbeloa did a decent job, and he definitely deserves more respect than waht is given to him.

Arbeloa was thrown into the deep end with some really bad mentalities and habits of these Real Madrid players, and was asked to somehow make it work. He managed to beat Benfica and Manchester City in the knockout stages of the Champions League. He tried his best to incorporate all stars while trying to make them forget about their egos for a second.

Arbeloa then managed to give so many players from Castilla their first minutes for the first team. He gave them opportunities, faith and trust, all of which are desperately required for young players. Real Madrid, as a result, saw the rise of Thiago Pitarch, Manuel Angel, Cesar Palacios and a few others, which was missing from Real Madrid in previous years.

Arbeloa did not have it nailed down. He was not perfect, but he definitely deserved his flowers for helping these young players and managing a terribly disoriented locker room filled with bust-ups and unhealthy habits.

For a manager with no prior experience of handling stars, Arbeloa did a fine job. He was not able to win anything. He wasn't able to get Real Madrid that far into the knockout stages, but he tried hard in a really bad situation, while also making sure that some of the young players at the club got the opportunities others have missed out on.

Now, Arbeloa is at Fulham, and is still helping Real Madrid out. He has signed two players from the club - Gonzalo Garcia and academy talent Palacios - while also trying to sign Manuel Angel before the end of the transfer window.

He is actively giving these talents the minutes they require to succeed in the most competitive league in the world, and it is something that will help Real Madrid, if they ever decide to bring them back down the line.

Arbeloa may not have been the greatest manager to have ever walked at Valdebebas, but he certainly deserves respect for handling such a horrid time at the club as well as he could.

Confirmed: Fulham reward left-footed Nigerian midfielder with new deal after first team debut
With a statement on their official website, Fulham have announced that left-footed Nigerian midfielder Chibby Nwoko has signed a new contract with the Premier League club.

Nwoko will now remain at Fulham until at least June 2028 after signing a two-year deal, with the club holding an option to extend his stay for the 2028-29 campaign.

The new contract comes after the 20-year-old recently made his senior debut in the Carabao Cup.

Nwoko came off the bench for the final 22 minutes of Fulham's 3-0 victory over AFC Wimbledon at Craven Cottage on August 27.

Last season, Nwoko gained valuable first-team experience during a loan spell at Forest Green Rovers, making 20 appearances and contributing one goal and one assist.

He has also made an impressive start to the 2026-27 campaign, providing two assists in Fulham's 4-3 Premier League 2 victory over Burnley.

Commenting on his new contract, Nwoko said: "It feels amazing to sign a new contract. With the new Manager here, I want to keep making an impression on him and hopefully get more opportunities with the First Team.

"I want to play men's football again, so whether that's here or with another club on loan, I want to keep developing."

Nwoko has been with Fulham since U13 level, having joined the club from neighbours Chelsea.

They are ready to offer a loan with a conditional obligation to buy which will depend on their Premier League survival. They too have initiated discussions for the deal, causing a bit of excitement in Rome about the attacker's departure.

This would be crucial for the Giallorossi, who will then be able to push for Luiz Henrique or Jamie Lewelling.

Favourable transfer possible
The situation is at a point where Soule's exit will unlock a lot of moves in Europe. It has been clear that his agent is aware of the situation and has been attempting to find new clubs.

That is why Fulham and Sunderland can seek a favourable transfer. They can capitalise on Roma's desperation to sell and even iron out initial loan moves.

Newcastle entered talks for the former Frosinone man before Tuesday's deadline but have decided to proceed only with Matias Fernandez-Pardo, while Sunderland were in the running but have also backed out of a deal, which would have amounted to around £30m.

However, Roma don't want to sanction a sale at this stage in the transfer window barring a huge bid, and manager Gian Piero Gasperini has dismissed the rumours linking him elsewhere: "I have never known of any offer; there wasn't one and nor has there ever been all summer long. For me, he's playing [against Lecce], so I don't chase after the news. There was never anything concrete for him, and on his side either, there was never any different idea."

New contract for Nwoko
The Club is delighted to announce that Chibby Nwoko has put pen to paper on a new contract at Fulham.

Nwoko, who made his First Team debut in last week's Carabao Cup victory over AFC Wimbledon, has signed a new deal which keeps him at the Club until the summer of 2028, with a Club option of a further year.


"It feels amazing to sign a new contract," Nwoko told fulhamfc.com.

"With the new Manager here, I want to keep making an impression on him and hopefully get more opportunities with the First Team.

"I want to play men's football again, so whether that's here or with another club on loan, I want to keep developing."

At Fulham since the Under-13s stage, Nwoko made 13 appearances for our U21s side last season before heading out on loan.

The 20-year-old received his first taste of senior football, spending the second half of the campaign at Forest Green Rovers, where he started 17 of 20 league matches for the National League side, helping Rovers reach the Play-Offs.

He returned to Motspur Park in the summer and travelled with the First Team to Portugal for their pre-season camp in the Algarve. The midfielder also came off the bench in a 1-0 win over Stuttgart at Craven Cottage.

Fulham 5-0 Plymouth Argyle
Fulham FC Women continued our perfect start to the FA WNL Southern Premier Division with a commanding 5-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle at Motspur Park.

Rianna Dean and Charlie Estcourt both opened their Fulham accounts with their first goals since joining the club this summer, with Charlie going on to score twice. Anna Grey and Sophie Gillies also found the net, as the victory made it three wins from three and extended our unbeaten league run to 50 games, stretching back to April 2024.

We started brightly and had plenty of the ball, with Olivia Dale's early cross narrowly missing Dean before Plymouth enjoyed a brief spell of possession.

Our pressure paid off in the 10th minute when Dale's ball into the box found Dean, who rose highest to head beyond the plymouth goalkeeper, Olivia Giles, and score her first competitive goal for Fulham.

We doubled our advantage in the 16th minute when Estcourt was first to a loose ball after a fumble from Giles, tapping into the empty net to open her Fulham account.

Just two minutes later, we had a third. Gillies' effort on target was spilled by the visiting 'keeper and Grey was quickest to react, finishing beyond her reach.

After the third, we remained in control, moving the ball well and forcing Plymouth to sit in a low block. Gillies continued to test the Plymouth defensive line and goalkeeper with her runs down the right wing, while Izzy Milne went close with a long-range effort shortly after from a corner set piece play.

Estcourt added her second goal in the 41st minute, reacting quickest once again, fighting through a crowded box and arriving first to a loose ball to give us a 4-0 lead at the break.

We needed just two minutes into added time to add a fifth as Dale delivered another excellent cross into the box, finding Gillies' run and allowing her to tap home the goal she was working towards the entire half.

We continued to control the game after the break, with Milne testing the Plymouth goalkeeper from a free-kick after Dean had been brought down just outside the box.

Gillies then came close to adding another, meeting Grey's cross but seeing her effort hit the side netting.

Plymouth defended a number of our attacks as the second half progressed, with Grey's pass forcing a corner in the 71st minute before Estcourt's delivery was headed behind for another.

Leila Lister came close to adding a sixth in the 80th minute when she reacted quickest to a mis-punched clearance from Giles, but her effort struck the side netting.

The final whistle confirmed a convincing 5-0 victory and our 50th consecutive league game without defeat. It is a run which stretches all the way back to April 2024 and continues with three wins from three in the Southern Premier Division.

Fulham Under-21s made it back-to-back wins in PL2 with a 4-0 victory at Newcastle United.

Our Young Whites have had no problems finding the back of the net in the first few games of the season, but we struck the perfect balance here, with a clean sheet to boot.

Dan Casey and Jayden Quashie were both alive in the box in the first half, reacting quickest to loose balls to put us ahead.

Quashie doubled his tally immediately after the interval, before Trialist Jose Sani scored for a third straight game with seven minutes to play.

Michael Allen saved a penalty late on to cap off a complete away day display.

Newcastle proved tricky opponents at Whitley Park last season, winning 3-0 in this fixture back in February, and we had an early scare as the dangerous Trevan Sanusi rattled the crossbar with a thunderous effort.

But we quickly responded as Casey handed us the lead after 11 minutes. Macaulay Zepa cut inside onto his left foot and saw a shot cannon back off the post, but Casey was well placed to score the follow up.

With bags of energy and pace, Sanusi was a real threat down the left, and as he surged away again, Allen was out well to make a stop at the winger's feet.

But we had our own winger who was causing issues. Zepa, who only had a short journey to Newcastle having been named in the First Team squad at Sunderland on Sunday, created the second goal.

The 18-year-old took Dylan Charlton down the outside, flashing a shot across goal which was saved by George Mair, with the ball falling to Quashie to roll a strike calmly into the bottom corner.

Alfie White has returned to the side having missed the first couple of games through injury – and was back to his all-action self in midfield. A lung-busting run through the centre of the park resulted in White taking a shot from range, which was beaten away by Mair.

Dan Thomas' side were in a strong position at the break – and looked to have three points wrapped up almost immediately after the interval.

Again, Zepa was involved, feeding Sani down the right, and he pulled the ball back into a dangerous area for Quashie to finish with aplomb.

Sani was almost provider for a second time, holding the ball up and setting it for Casey, but he was denied a brace by a brave Henry Johnson block.

Sani turned goalscorer with seven minutes to play. He drilled the ball into the far corner after being picked out by Aidan Evans in the box.

It looked as though a slight dampener may be put on the evening when the hosts were awarded a penalty for an adjudged trip in the box from Seth Chingwaro.

But Allen, so impressive since his return from his ACL injury, had different ideas, springing to his left to deny Matheos Ferreira from 12 yards.

The evening could have become even better as Tom Olyott curled a shot towards the far corner, but Mair beat away the effort with a strong hand.

With deadline day approaching, interest in FC Augsburg's Chrislain Matsima has resurfaced, according to Sky Germany.

The Bavarian club looked to have fended off interest in the Frenchman, but now it appears Fulham FC are monitoring the defender.

Everton are sweating over their deadline-day move for Fulham right-back Kenny Tete due to problems with the London club's attempts to land his replacement, TEAMtalk understands.

It was suggested just days ago that Tomori is prepared to dig his heels in and remain at AC Milan if he is not convinced by any of the offers on his table.

That's according to French outlet AS, via Goal, who say that Fulham are now advancing towards signing the 22-year-old, who is another player who Arbeloa knows well from his time managing in the Spanish capital.

The report says that Angel's move to Almeria has collapsed, which looks to have given Fulham an opportunity to swoop in and snatch the Spain U20 international. Dortmund prevailed 2-0 on the day, with Konstantelias scoring his side's second: a glorious right-footed effort from just inside the box.

Prior to this heightened interest, the youngster was reportedly considering a loan move to Fulham, prioritising a stay in the Premier League. This will no longer happen.

The Brazilian has since departed for Saudi Arabia, and Nwaneri is now Bundesliga-bound, with Arteta's side hoping that the 19-year-old is able to develop further with Dortmund.

The youngster spent the second half of the 2025/26 season on loan with Marseille in Ligue 1, scoring twice, and assisting once, in nine French top-flight appearances.

Nwaneri also scored against Dortmund for Arsenal in pre-season, during a 3-2 loss in the Emirates Cup — and converted his penalty in the post-match shootout.

Since making his Premier League debut for the North London club in 2022, aged just 15, Nwaneri has failed to break into a side that has competed for the English top-flight title in four successive seasons.

He has made 51 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 10 and assisting two, with Mikel Arteta confessing in August that he would like the 19-year-old to stay, but that he needs to receive further opportunities.

Marca report that Fulham submitted their €25m (£21.7m) offer in writing on Monday afternoon. That figure matches Ratiu's release clause. However, Fulham want to pay it in instalments.

Rayo president Raul Martin Presa is demanding something different. He wants the full €25m (£21.7m) paid immediately and isn't willing to negotiate the payment structure. And Fulham aren't prepared to do that at this stage.

AS explain that leaves the Premier League club with a difficult choice. To activate the clause without Rayo agreeing to a deal, Fulham would have to deposit the entire €25m (£21.7m) with LaLiga in one payment. Otherwise, they need Presa to engage in negotiations.

That hasn't happened. AS say the president isn't giving Fulham a yes or a no and isn't even taking Ratiu's calls.

Of course there is some frustration for Fulham given how they got to this point. Ratiu's agents informed Rayo of the interest on Saturday and told them Fulham were prepared to reach the clause figure.

Marca say the Spanish club wanted to see an official offer before doing anything. Fulham then delivered exactly that on Monday.

Rayo have since reactivated the right-back alternatives they had lined up in case Ratiu departed.

Ratiu fears another deal will collapse
The concern now is that Fulham could simply run out of patience. Local outlets say the €25m (£21.7m) would give Rayo useful funds for other additions. Yet they warn Fulham could walk away if the current situation continues.

Ratiu has already seen that happen once. AS say Nottingham Forest previously offered €25m (£21.7m) in instalments for him. Rayo didn't respond to that proposal either.

Wolverhampton also tried for him last summer. Their €18m (£15.6m) offer went nowhere because Rayo demanded his clause. Ratiu now fears his Fulham move could suffer the same fate.

Fulham have at least reached the €25m (£21.7m) figure this time. The problem is getting Rayo to accept how they want to pay it.

With the clock ticking, that leaves Fulham needing Presa to change his position or find a way to make the full payment in one go.

The newspaper believe Fulham are currently in the lead for the defender. Milan are in the background and are 'far behind' in the chase.

This could be mainly because Lecce demand no less than €25m to sell the Portuguese. This price is more favourable for the London side, with Lecce also having identified a replacement for their young centre-back.

Transfer dominos in full swing
Fulham would be unlikely to sign both players and the situations of both Tomori and Gabriel are connected. If Arbeloa's side push for the Rossoneri outcast, it will hand Milan the chance to sign the Lecce talent.

But it is clear that the 21-year-old would offer better value. He has a higher ceiling and his career is going in the right direction. The same can't be said for Tomori, who has declined in the last two seasons.

That is why Fulham should prioritise a move for Gabriel, even if he costs a bit more.

Ratiu had been hoping to start a new chapter in his career. Lopez says the Romania international wanted a new experience, specifically the chance to play in the Premier League and live in London.

Presa's position has prevented that so far and there is little expectation of him changing it before the deadline.

Fulham also appear to have reached their limit. Lopez says the Cottagers believe they have already "offered and waited enough" during their attempts to get Ratiu out of Rayo.

That's significant given the situation earlier on deadline day, when there was still some hope the two clubs could find a solution.

Eduardo Burgos, also reporting for AS, is even more definitive. He says Ratiu will stay at Rayo this season unless there is a "radical turnaround".

According to the journalist, Presa is blocking the defender's departure despite Fulham being willing to push the boat out to sign him.

That has left Ratiu seriously unhappy with his president. Lopez describes his anger with Presa as considerable, going beyond the disappointment which had already surrounded the situation.

The player had made his preference clear. He wanted Fulham and the opportunity to move to England. Now the expectation in Spain is that he will have to remain at Rayo instead.

Fulham, meanwhile, don't appear minded to keep waiting or improve what they have already put forward. A dramatic late change could still alter things, but AS now consider that highly unlikely.

As things stand, Presa has held firm, Fulham have had enough, and Ratiu looks set to be the unhappy party left behind in Madrid.

Will Real Madrid Regret Selling Young Trio to Alvaro Arbeloa?
Three Real Madrid Castilla products followed their former boss to Craven Cottage this summer.

Real Madrid are not expecting any incoming transfers on Deadline Day, but they are still making some noise before the window shuts—and of course former boss and new Fulham manager Álvaro Arbeloa is at the center of the action.

The 15-time European champions have reportedly sanctioned a move for Castilla gem Manuel Ángel to Craven Cottage. The Athletic report the 22-year-old midfielder is in London to complete a medical before reuniting with Arbeloa in the Premier League.

Ángel will join fellow Castilla products Gonzalo García and César Palacios at Fulham. The three players opted to follow Arbeloa to west London in the hopes of accelerating their careers after it became obvious they were not in José Mourinho's plans back in Madrid.

Los Blancos are expected to bank around $4.6 million (€4 million) for Ángel. Combined with the $58 million (€50 million) from selling Gonzalo and Palacios, Real Madrid raked in nearly $63 million (€54 million) just from those three academy exits, adding to an already record-breaking summer of outgoing sales.

It was great business from the club, but will there be long-term implications of letting three emerging young talents leave the Bernabéu?

Real Madrid's Complex Midfield Predicament
At first glance, it seems rather counterproductive for a team in desperate need of midfield solutions to sell two promising, homegrown midfielders. Last season, Palacios made seven first-team appearances and 32 for Castilla, scoring 15 goals along the way.

Ángel also earned seven first-team cameos in 2025–26, awarded his senior debut by Arbeloa, as was Palacios. The two both logged promising minutes and came highly touted, so much so that Palacios has already started Fulham's first two Premier League matches of the season.

There is no doubt either player—or both—could have one day became a mainstay in Real Madrid's midfield, much like fellow Castilla graduate Federico Valverde. But that jump was never going to happen this season, even after the team failed to sign Rodri.

Mourinho already has Valverde, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Eduardo Camavinga, Bernardo Silva and Arda Güler at his disposal. Plus, there's Castilla gem Thiago Pitarch, whose first-team breakthrough last season earned him a place in Mourinho's squad.

Realistically, there was no room for Ángel and Palacios at the Bernabéu. Mourinho was never going to use either player with any sort of regularity, and that fact became painfully obvious when the team signed 19-year-old midfielder Sergio Martínez from Racing Santander to join the Castilla ranks.

It makes complete sense Real Madrid instead cashed in on the two transfers and let the academy players reunite with Arbeloa. No matter what issues come about in Mourinho's midfield, Ángel and Palacios were never going to be the answers.

Gonzalo Might Just Be the One Who Got Away
Unlike Ángel and Palacios, Gonzalo had a strong place in Real Madrid's squad. The striker already showed his skill in a white shirt when he scored four goals at the Club World Cup and then eight more last season despite logging wildly inconsistent minutes.

Gonzalo even did enough to ship Endrick out on loan to Lyon, fully commanding the role as Kylian Mbappé's backup. Yet the Brazilian's return this summer pushed Gonzalo out the door and right into the arms of Arbeloa.

It came as no surprise to Real Madrid fans that the striker scored on his Fulham debut against Chelsea and then bagged another goal in the team's 3–0 Carabao Cup win over Wimbledon. Gonzalo is a pure No. 9 with great positioning, clinical finishing and instincts you simply cannot teach.

It's highly plausible there comes a time in the next few years that the 15-time European champions regret letting the young Spaniard go, especially if he continues to explode in England. But the fee Fulham was willing to pay for his signature was too good to pass up considering he likely would have spent more time on the bench than on the pitch at the Bernabéu.

Los Blancos quickly signed Gonzalo's replacement in Carlos Espí, who scored a last-gasp winner in his debut against Espanyol. Mourinho also has Endrick at his disposal once the Brazilian recovers from a muscle injury.

Real Madrid have plenty of depth up top even without Gonzalo still in the dressing room. But in a few years' time, the club could have another Achraf Hakimi situation on its hands.

Defender Rejects Fulham Move As West Ham Possibility Floated
AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori has opted against moving to Fulham on deadline day, but West Ham United could be an option in the background.
 
The 28-year-old has fallen outside Ruben Amorim's plans at the San Siro, a situation that prompted Newcastle United and Aston Villa to explore a move last month, although neither pursuit came to fruition.
 
A return to his homeland remained a possibility with Fulham entering the picture, while Tomori is currently in London with his representatives to discuss the prospect of a deadline day move.

Tomori has been considering Fulham's proposal, but according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, he has decided to say no.

It is unclear why the defender has rejected the chance to move to Craven Cottage, but there could still be an option in England for him.

According to Fulham insider Dave Kidd, West Ham 'may be interested in Tomori'.

The Hammers are in the market to bolster their defensive options before the window closes, with centre-back a particular focus.

However, it remains to be seen whether Tomori would entertain dropping into Championship football with the east London outfit remains a key question.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side are already set to welcome a centre-back in Morato from Nottingham Forest, while they have opted to shelve their pursuit of Wout Faes.

With the clock running down, West Ham have very little time to assess whether there is enough encouragement around Tomori to keep the possibility alive.

The 28-year-old is final year of his contract with the Serie A giants and if he stays with AC Millan then he could agree pre-contract deal with clubs during the winter transfer window. 

However, with the Rossoneri having frozen him out, he faces playing no football until the new year.

AC Milan would prefer to cash in on him this summer instead of losing him on free which could work to West Ham's advantage to strike a deal for the English defender.
