Yesterday's performance was not one that deserved Boo's.we were on top for most of the game. I believe the tactics were wrong but that was down to the manager not the players, even though mistakes were made. Football is not an exact science. Booing will not improve any players confidence. Supporters who boo need to grow up and learn to encourage our team
Booing is a symptom. The fans dont make us play suicidal football that will clearly get us relegated. I expect the booing was less for the players and more for the manager.
Booing is counterproductive. Nothing positive can come from booing your own team. If it continues the players will be fearful of playing at home and performances will suffer. We've surely all seen the toxic behaviour of supporters at West Ham and how that has carried over onto the playing field.
Booing isn't ever great, but I think it's especially crazy to start booing this early into a new tenure.
Things obviously need to improve but we've only just started the season, the current players are still adjusting to the new roles, and the newest signings have only just arrived.

And spurs in particular.
I think the booing was a result of a number of things. We are all nervous of the change. A worry that Arbeloa isn't getting it right. Throwing away a lead twice to not even get a point and worst of all the absolutely shambolic nature of the goals. No doubt about it that repeats of all of that will see us down and can fully understand the fans frustration.
However I am worried that it will be hugely counterproductive and the players will not respond well and a cycle will start. Arbeloa needs to pick them up come up with a plan and show everyone that the attacking flair can be balanced with some form of solidity. No doubt we could dismantle some teams this season but a hammering by Liverpool and United will, I fear, be fatal to morale. If Arbeloa goes, then I fear for our Spaniards who joined to be with their mentor.
I think the booing lends itself to show the Manager/club that things need a rethink going forward tactics wise. That's clearly true.. so therefore helpful.
The issue is that the players will take it personally when they are probably just the "messenger" so to speak. That can create bad blood between players and Manager and make it harder for the Manager to turn things around.
This is why they get paid the big bucks.. when it goes well it's all bottles of champagne, WAGs, and trips to the Maldives.. but when it's going badly it's boos.
I have never jeered my team.. I do groan a lot but that is a reflex action.
I don't think the fans boing can get us relegated. What will get us relegated is not having a team with an organised defence. Playing in such a kamikaze fashion can only end one way.
It's a shame for the players, they have no chance except to rebel...the manager? some people will say it's too soon to judge but the total lack of any defending means his days just have to be numbered unless he wakes up and smells the proverbial coffee. He has two get out of jail cards when losing to Liverpool and Manchester United as would seem inevitable, but after that, who knows.

Unless we lose each one 5 or even 3 nil.
Booing is for children or for when you take children to a pantomime. Not somethng that grown men should be doing.
I'm fine with booing the ref or anyone Argentinian but yeah, not our own players, especially 3 games into new management after a game where we were robbed (albeit we essentially left the front door unlocked)

totally agree. the problem could become worse. Then players loose +onfidence and make even more costly mistakes or even play safe scared to make a mistake. Then we have no spirit in the team and start losing every game. That's what gets you relegated. I thought we played quite well for most of yesterday. The booing was not necessary
To a large extent we get what we give, and I think if we want to see a little class, it'd help to show a little class.
If you're not supporting your team through adversity what kind of fan is that?

100% this
Bunch of entitled idiots booing a team with new young players adjusting to a new system
You have to be a serious level of idiot to think that such behaviour is conducive to improving our chances and helping our team settle together.
If you booed at the weekend ,get a grip. We absolutely have had some sloppy poor defensive moments but not like we just watched a team devoid of ideas and attacking intent. Also were robbed of a penalty tbh and you got people immediately jumping on the teams backs 3 games in to a 38 games eason. Counter productive to put it mildly
Lead twice, have a toenail offside go our way, have most possession, and playing at home. Lose.
Have a look how often that happens in the Prem. Rare as hen's teeth.
It deserved a polite boo.
I certainly didn't boo, but I consider us a relatively tolerant and fair fanbase. I just think it's two performances at the cottage that has seen some of the most shambolic defending I've seen in my time and I don't mind the crowd voicing their displeasure at that. This was a pretty poor Palace side and we made it so easy.
I don't understand why Iwobi was booed, I didn't like that. Nor with AP in the past.
I doubt whether many who have followed us through thick and thin over the last 50 years were booing. The supporters who did should have been around in the 80's and 90s when things really were dismal, repeated relegations, dismal displays, genuinely no hope.
We have a new manager, many new faces, older players unsure of the future. I think we have the makings of a good team, yes a little physically lightweight in some areas but we'll work through that. There are more positives than negatives at the moment but let's see where we are at Christmas, we'll certainly see what we need by then.
The boos are symptomatic of the instant gratification age we live in, lot's of babies throwing the rattle out of the pram. It may not be perfect but surely give it 10 games and see where we are and see where we are.
Maybe we should all hum the Benny Hill show theme music. Thats where it looked like our defending was straight out of.
The supporters have every right to let Arbeloa and the board of directors know at the final whistle that that level of performance is not acceptable,
Arbeloa needed to hear those boo's he needed to know that the supporters aren't happy, he can now either change or he can stick to his guns, if he adopts that approach then he is walking on very thin ice.
All the boo boys aren't valued supporters. They should go and support Chelsea. Wouldn't be missed

I was around in those dark days, and those players got booed, a lot, almost every week. If anything those lads didnt deserve that. They weren't getting the 50k a week, the millionaire lifestyle, the state of the art training facilities, all the nutrition, physio, sports psychology supports. But they never complained , got on with it. Its the lot of the professional footballer, wherever they go. So, don't feel too sorry for the mega rich bright young things. If they don't like the fans voicing their frustration, they could always pack it in, get a different job.
I don't think you need to boo to show dissatisfaction. Leaving the ground immediately after(or even before) the final whistle will have a similar effect.
The players, maybe not all of them, came over to the Hammy End at the end despite the booing. They were clapped by some, including me. If you didn't want to clap just walk out, the exits were open.
I wouldn't ever boo our players, I don't think that is helpful for anyone but I having watched the game I can completely understand the level of frustration felt by the fans. However I think that should be directed at AA. I am far from convinced he is the manager we need and as I said on another thread it is fine being offensively minded if you win a game by the odd goal but not if you lose it by the same margin. Some of our defending yesterday was nothing short of slapstick.
Booing is boorish. Only saps and simpletons resort to booing. Even booing the ref or opposing players, really boorish. And booing your own club is just pathetic behavior.
Now, can such behavior influence or, as the thread topic suggests, get us relegated? I think not. Professional athletes have to have thick skin. They appreciate and welcome the cheers and the paychecks they receive, and they also have to accept the jeers, booing, bad press when things aren't going well. It's all part of the gig. I don't do social media, so I don't know or understand the implications of players deleting posts on their social media accounts, but I suspect it doesn't mean too much. Besides, players are probably best served avoiding social media and not following fan forums with all the tripe that shows up when the team/players are tanking. Funny thing, I've heard some pro athletes actually say they deserved the boos, they don't blame the fans, they deserved the boos for such a poor show. It's now up to the players to turn the boos to cheers with better performances.
Booing your own team is certainly not helpful. Nothing positive to gain from so doing. But players should be able to accept the bad, with the good. Thick skin should have the boos running like water off a ducks' back. If they do impact a players psyche, well then, that player isn't very strong.
The idiots booing Alvaro are the same clowns I suspect that wanted Silva out. Empty vessels make the most noise sadly.

I got pretty heated about this last season or the season before, I cant remember. But its like fighting the tide. Too many idiots out there. The boo boys will continue im afraid.
Since early 1970s i have never booed team off in the shirt, also i really liked the positive attacking Style of Fulham i know the downside. But think h we will sort it.
The only downside is Kevin and Tete incidents,as if he gets a players revolt can see TK siding with them and he will be
History.
Challenged a ponytailed ****** haired kid with a fluffy beard who was booing the team at the end of last season.
He claimed that as a paying punter it was his right to boo whoever wanted.
That seems to be the norm for entitled little w⚓️'s like him.
I may not be optimistic about the AA experiment but I desperately want it to succeed. Booing the players or the manager is beyond stupid, especially after just three games.
The best way to stop the poor fan reaction is for the players and the manager to do what they are paid vast amounts of money to do!
Players and not the manager are the ones who are mainly at fault when things go wrong but always get off lightly
Maybe its the cynic in me but I've always wondered if some footballers are really genuine with their clapping to their supporters, whether its as they come onto the pitch or going over at the end of a game to applaud. In some cases is it just going through the motions????
Nonsense.

Have you ever been at the Cottage when the place is noisy and everyone cheering the team? If the crowd can lift the team then they can certainly bring them down.
I don't boo our team.
However, maybe the booing and the negativity helped AA to look at what he was doing. The team had no shape in the first 3 games and he responded well in the pre match interview.
I just want to see us play with a more balanced approach at home and then we can consider the first 3 games as a blip and we can get on with the season.

I see the first three games as a learning curve with AA seeing what the players he.has can do. We weren't outclassed in those games and lost by the odd goal. Someone said something about fine margins, can't remember who though.

truth in this post .
Some of our 'fans' need to own up to their hysterical behavior (behaviour). It has been embarrassing to see, caused me to create my first user name in almost 20 years. New systems take time for players to truly understand.

Except he already started adapting the system in the game vs Palace with his substitutes towards end of that game when he adjusted the shape. We had a few absolute marish freak moments like garcias that cost us and a penalty that never was, but the basis of what we're trying to do makes sense if done properly.
Not having this idea the boo boys are to thank for making him realise something he wouldn't have otherwise, like losing 3 games wasn't enough 😂 The guys played football at the top level his whole career...real madrid fans on twitter were saying how ridiculous it was to accuse him of being stubborn or unable or unwilling to adapt - citing all the different approaches and formation adjustments he made at Madrid in his time there.
The team has and had a shape it's supposed to play - the plan has been clear...it just wasn't being executed properly and for sure needed refining and adjustment and perfecting as well as the right personnel to play it.. Clearly now being able to push Iwobi back forward and bring in Affengruber are essential components of this system functioning better.
It's a very different approach . We know how we're MEANT to be playing but it's taking some time to execute in game...high wing backs on overlap means our CMs/DMs need to drop back and defend when they do, as well as wingers tucking in when the full back advances. The issue was this wasn't happening effectively.
If some here (not person Im replying to) participated in heckling 3 games into a new system and are trying to justify it now, sorry, but no. And absolutely such environments this early are not the way to encourage a team and can absolutely contribute to the demise of a team and feeling around the club. If they weren't showing effort or strolling about not arsed, getting battered with no sign of attacking intent, maybe I'd be more sympathetic... but that wasn't and isn't the case.

What you're describing at the end there, is basically how we played under Marco. I think the difference this year is that King has vastly improved, making us more dynamic. And from yesterday I think the addition of Affenburger and Charles next to Berge also help us play more progressively. But the way we played against Liverpool systemwise is not that far off from how Marco set us up. I think just with slight tweaks and the allowance for players to be a little more attacking minded is exactly what we needed after Marco, without a wholesale change of system.

Silva played the system completely lopsided. Everything was geared around attacking on the left side of the pitch. (or when it did end up with Wilson- cutting in to curl one) He pushed Robinson high when in attack and that was the focal point of our attack, but our fullbacks were no where near as advanced at the start of build-up play under Silva. We are far more balanced now in terms of
where we attack from, and go through the centre of the pitch also more than under Marco... Our 8 LM and RM also rotate around eachother far more and our system out of possession with high press very different. In attack it's much more fluid with King given more freedom to go out into wide areas and rotate round the other players around him.
It's not a complete abandonment in terms of numbers of players in their supposed position, but the rotation within that system both in attack and defence much more varied.
Silva just became - get ball to Robinson, form triangles on left while right side stayed back to cover. Or chuck to Raul and hope he can flick on to Wilson who cuts in and shoots. Our right width was completely lacking. This is why we had comments from Timmy saying "we now have been given license to kill"
This has been the source of much discussion and frustration for Castagne who's spoken publically on it before- and the reason why Timmy has become the starter now - because that's more his preferred game than Kenny's. Tete was favoured under silva as he is a defensive powerhouse tasked with staying mostly back
One interesting thought is, would King have started any games so far under Silva? I kind of think not, but who knows, obviously we don't see the team in training every day...
King of the Cottage requires only one thing to complete his game. He needs to put his boot through the ball when shooting. It's the follow through that gives the power. For those that are old enough Bobby Charlton was an expert at that.
