A very good analysis from Danny.

Yes , video analysis showed hoe are defence was left in no mans land
for all 3 goals and the disallowed one .
43% of their attacks came dowwn the left hanside.Players too far up the pitch.
We have players new to a system, others new to the club and a talented man as our manager.
When or if it clicks we will be watching a team that will be a joy to watch.
If it doesn't, and we continue to play as we do then it's still going to be entertaining..
Im not worried yet.
Danny's take on the defensive issues...
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/videos/c5y5qpnjgglo
Danny Murphy laid into Arbeloa, and quite right too.
"Arbeloa wants to press, he's talked about it before [...] the problem is when teams play through and you're playing on the halfway line you've got to have centre halves who are really quick and have good recovery. [...]
"They're all over the place, Castagne ends up... not even playing as centre half, really, Andersen's at right back, there's big gaps in the back line, loads of space for Pino to get the cross in, nobody closing him down. [...]
"This is a great example of the manager's messaging to win the ball back quick. That's not like Castagne, who's an experienced international, he's dived out of position, left Andersen isolated and there's the goal. [...]
"When there's a turnover and a transition, they're not man for man, they're overloads: Pino and Castagne and Mitchell there, Castagne's got 2 v 1, there's nothing he can do, mainly 'cause the centre halves are out of position, they're vertical, not horizontal, that gap's too big [...] then you see the gap in the midfield, the distance from King [...] that's too much, and all of a sudden there's chaos. [...]
"They're not managing the game well enough. [...] Castagne, I don't think he sees Chilwell [...] Robinson switches off, that's poor play, that's basics."
Some of our fans have already made up their minds and no amount of analysis, even from a former Fulham hero, will change their minds. The pitchforks are being sharpened and they want AA gone.

Honest question. Really, I'm not being facetious. But where does this "talented man as our manager" narrative come from? Can you point to any success he has had in his short managerial career? On what basis do you make the judgement that he is talented? Does managing Real for 4 months automatically make him talented? And before that he was only with the Madrid academy for 7 months? I don't understand why so many on this board think he's this tactical genius or something. There's no evidence of it.

Has he said he should be sacked? If what he is highlighting is areas we need to change then that is correct. If AA does that and it works out then great but I feel some fans want him gone regardless.

Well he's a talented footballer who played at the highest level (the highest).
He was successful with the R'Madrid youngsters,in fact so good they let him have a go at the main gig. So yes he is talented where football is concerned.

How do you quantify that he was successful with the Madrid youngsters? He was in that job for a heartbeat. Florentino Perez clearly rates him, but that has nothing to do with us. And we shouldn't be basing managerial appointments on which of his former Madrid players Perez is fond of.
The man was a defender. You'd think after 2+ decades of playing at the highest level, he'd have a modicum of knowledge on how to set up a defence and that defence would be his priority. This season is going to be a disaster.

I would question if you ever watch the Madrid academy or U21's
so seriously doubt you are in a position to judge his performance. Just accept he is talented unless of course you are a better judge of the man's credentials than Perez.

It wasn't meant to be. Just an obvious observation.
Well the weekend is done and dusted and as things stand we know AA has to tighten the defence. The new signings might be an instant fit or the lessons learned might be implemented but there seems to be a consensus the 'rest of it' shows promise.
Whatever happens now something had to change and it was never going to be easy.
I have read that inexperience is the reason for AA's lack of tactical nous and erratic substitutions but imagine having an experienced Prem manager, a huge outlay on players and still be on less than three points. Glasner, de Zerbi and Lampard were all names touted on here when it became fairly clear Silva was off and Emri hasn't quite got things ticking at Villa as yet. Howe is being mentioned already but, ironically,I think we need to get to the Newcastle game with this set up then stick or twist.

Well I'm a Fulham fan and quite frankly I don't care who Florentino Perez rates. Why do I need to accept that he is a talent on the basis of his relationship with the Madrid chairman? Utter nonsense.
It is too easy to play against our team. With all outfield players pushing up and our fullbacks furthest forward on both sides of the pitch, it takes one long ball to put us in trouble. All the players in the world, and understanding our tactics won't make a difference. I want him to change his ridiculous tactics or go. If he won't change then he might as well go now.
I do not say this lightly. I am also not someone who calls for managers' heads. We are getting relegated with these tactics.

Last Season Marco's record was 15W 7D 16L with the team he built over the period he was here.
I'd argue that in all fairness you've got to allow AA two or three months to get the existing, new players and the coaching staff all to understand the plan.
What's your alternative?
Danny Murphy had such success in his
coaching/ managerial career with uh!
nobody.
Apologies in advance for the rant
So my thoughts on this I have no football credentials other than being a fan
We panicked with the appointment of AA due to our lack of planning and not realising Marco was off when most of us could all see what was happening
Ultimately that's where this all stems from in my opinion a complete lack of understanding and foresight from our board. It is wilful ignorance and negligence end of don't care what arguments people put forward so the board must take a huge portion of the criticism
While I agree we needed a change no due diligence appeared to have been done so
we then appoint a novice because he's been associated with RM (so he must be good yeah)
We signed a few players to appease him and make him think he's at home but again lacked any foresight by panicking and leaving crucial positions needing to be filled on deadline day This left is with no RB to play in AA's system a disgruntled Kenny Tete who when fit any manager should get into this team and we sign a CB not many of us have heard of or even linked with until hours before the window closed. Add in no RW and it was a poor transfer window if we are being honest. And that is without the LDF debacle why is he in the MLS and not at a championship/L1/ European club on loan. That would have been so much better for him same with Zepa who is still here
AAs tactics so far are not suited to the PL and comments in press conferences don't show any signs of him wanting to change his approach
SM posts from players don't look good especially with his track record of losing the dressing room at Madrid
It all adds up to a complete lack of confidence in what is going on at all levels in the club
3 games is a nonsense to be talking about sacking a manager but I've no confidence it will change it looks like he's completely out of his depth with a board who are equally incompetent
Unless there are changes I can't see anything other than that we go down with him in charge
If Eddie Howe wants to come here I'd swap him right now to at least give us a fighting chance
However can't see it happening until it's too late
