Genuine question, what would be the biggest surprise next week,
A Fulham win or a West Ham win ?
Will be a tough test for us, they will fancy it.
Our first team beats them but being the cup we don't know which side will be played, so its a bit early to be able to say anything I think.

I would not expect to lose against the Hammers
I expect their only goal this season is to get promoted & secure a return to the top table £ms.
West Ham will play a weakened side. We should put the first team out. Need a win. End of.

They have done well to keep their squad together.
Whoever wins, I'd like to see Arbeloa play with some defensive nouse, rather than go for all out attack again. This will give players time to adapt to a sensible way of playing ahead of Liverpool.
If he goes hell for leather and beats West Ham convincingly- I fear that is how he'll keep trying to play in the league.

True to a certain extent, but 5 of their top 10 starters last season have gone- Wan Bissaka, Todibo, Summerville, Fernandes and Diouf. Bit part players like Callum WIlson, Potts also gone. To be fair to them, getting £180m for those players out was a master stroke.

I'll tell you what, if it was a league game and we heard prior that those players were out along with their best defender Axel Disai ,we would quite rightly fancy our chances wouldn't we?

We have a superior squad. They are a Championship team. Now, I know that doesn't mean we are guaranteed to win but this is a very winnable game.

I view Cup games at this point to be nothing more than training ground type of games, and wouldn't risk injury to any of our starters. My feeling is the concentration should be staying in this league, and if we lose out in playing a handful of Cup games through the course of the season, I'm fine with that, so be it.....

Point taken Block. Still, I really don't care a wit about Cup games at this point, as I see staying in this league as the primary focus. And I'm not writing off Liverpool and ManU games as zero sum. Still have some hope for some defensive adjustments and fingers crossed for results in those games.

As much as I'd like a cup run, Premier League is the clear focus this season. I don't think we should rotate the whole squad but as a minimum starting Larsson and Affengruber, as they may be needed as starters soon.

It will be Cuenca - Andersen and probably Larsson and Reed in midfield. Tete, Muniz, Kevin and Smith Rowe will play as well. Largely B team i think.
